The complication of posterior lens loss increases after a pars plana vitectomy. There is not longer any vitreous support and the pars plana vitrectomy can at time damage the lens capsule.

I also have a Crystalens after pars plana vitrectomy. Some doctors do not want to put a silicone IOL in an eye after retinal surgery incase silicone oil is needed later for a retinal detachment. My feeling is that eyes that need silicone oil rarely obtain good vision.

The floaters will remain unless you also had a pars plana vitrectomy for the retinal detactmeht, Also, why was an ultrasound done. Was the doctor unable to see the retina completely?

My current doctor who specializes in Uveitis did a Pars Plana Vitrectomy with a gas fluid exchange and a Kenalog injection a little over six months ago due to (from what I understand) a build-up of the white blood cells caused by the Pars Planitis that have elevated my retina and was it bleeding. About a month and a half ago I again had to have another surgery, this time it was a Vitrectomy with another gas fluid exchange due to my retina detaching caused by the first surgery.
i have recently had a pars plana vitrectomy and endolaser surgery for a detatched retina in my left eye and they also left silocone oil in there and ever scince i have been noticing floaters in my right eye though the doctors have said it is fine what are these floaters and will they go away
Hi i have been seeing same black curtain as it was before my retina detachment and i have done my surgery just like four days ago with scleral buckle and TPPV ( Trans pars plana vitrectomy ). i have c3f8 gas in my left eye i am seeing same gray curtain shadow i cant see it clear because i have gas in my eye but i can see it when i close my other eye after surgery and also started flashing of light. I had follow up appointment and doctor say its good but i dont know is this normal.
ERM frequently responds to Lucentis or Avastin. If not consider a pars plana vitrectomy for ERM peel. Complications include retinal detachment and cataract formation.

two years back i had injury in my left eye .. so i undergone ppv (pars plana vitrectomy) . it is successful i got my vision in center point. but still there defect in vision due to retinal damage .. my vision improved to 6/12 with spectacles.. is there any way to improve my vision..... can the damaged retinal cells can be restored ??
will my another eye(right) get affected due to blur vision in my left eye since both eye have different vision levels ??

From the reports of ophthalmologist I came to know that there is a macular hole , vitreous hemorrhage and tears in retina. i had undergone laser surgery for retinal tears and pars plana vitrectomy for macular hole . there is only partial vision in left eye (i.e 6/18 without spectacles and 6/12 with spectacles of power 1.25 cylindrical ) right eye normal vision 6/6 .
is there any possible way to cure the retinal damage in left eye .??
i dont had any problem in eyes before the injury .
It was July 26th when I had the pars plana vitrectomy on the left eye in which the silicone oil was removed. The procedure was done due to a retinal detachment I had in February and March this year. With only little discomfort, I went back to work after the surgery week. However, there were episodes of excruciating pain while I was at work and until now still experiencing it. My doctor indicated the pain is coming from the sutures surrounded on the eye.
There are several methods of fixing a detached retina, including laser photocoagulation, cryotherapy, scleral buckling, pars plana vitrectomy, and pneumatic retinopexy. Technically, each of the procedures can be done independently of one another. had a pars plana vitrectomy/endolaser/gas procedure to repair a localized detached retina in my right eye on 4/28/10.The retina specialist perfoming the surgery said I would not lose any oy my eyesight, but 3 months later I have very limited vision in that eye. The specialist said at my last appointment that everything was fine.When I asked him why my vision is still impaired he said I had a cataract on that eye.
I have a epiretinal membrane (ERM) due to an eye injury, and I would like to get the ERM removed. I have no other eye conditions (e.g. floaters, etc.) I have read that a pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) to aid in removal of an ERM always results (100%) in a cataract. Are there any surgeons in the USA (better yet Southern California) who can perform a ERM removal without a vitrectomy?
I had a pars plana vitrectomy/endolaser/gas procedure to repair a localized detached retina in my right eye on 4/28/10. A subsequent cataract developed and I was seen by a cataract surgeon at that time (8/22/10) I was told I also had a macular pucker this was also confirmed by my retina specialist. My vision after the cataract removal improved to 20/40. My retina specialist prescibed prednislone and xibrom drops BID for the macular pucker.
1) Is it bad to keep using your old prescription glasses 4 months after retinal detachment surgery (Pars Plana Vitrectomy with gas bubble)?
2) Will it harm your eye's recovery after PPV and gas bubble? I need it for my good eye's vision so I am still using my old glasses with the old prescription on the operated eye---I cant see without glasse prior to my surgery.
