1280753 tn?1367757932 it's been 4 weeks and i am about ready to snap. ear, throat, sinus, bronchitis, intestinal; one infection after another. i was on moxyfloxicin for 10 days and it didn't help much. now it feels like the flu, and i got a flu shot in october. my WBC is 2.8 , ANC 2134 , Absolute Lymphocytes are 389 (which is real low) , HGB is 11.3. i want my life back. i can take the normal sides from INF and RIBA, but all this other stuff is taking it's toll.
Avatar m tn But the doctor mentioned that my white blood cell count is slightly higher than normal ( WBC count taken from the swabs, not from my blood work) and mentioned that there might be an infection so she prescribed Avelox (Moxifloxacin), 4 x 400mg once daily. The background is, I am Chinese male, been with my girlfriend for about a year and both of us have been loyal and we were both asymptomatic before this event.
Avatar f tn You see, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, and Moxifloxacin are all in the same class of antibiotics and bacteria creates resistance to classes of antibiotics, not individual antibiotics.
Avatar m tn The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?
Avatar m tn If you meant to say that you took Moxifloxacin, and you still have symptoms, it just means that you have multi drug resistance MG. Yes, there are STD’s in this country that are not known about AND MG is the culprit behind many undiagnosable urethritis/prostatitis issues. This is way more common than the doctors even know about. I’m not saying this to scare you, I’m saying this. because it’s the truth.
Avatar f tn If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia 6 weeks ago. I was on oral antibiotics for 2 days, then admitted with an IV drip for 3 days (levifloxacin, as I'm allergic to penicillin-based drugs) then given a 5 day course of oral clarithromyacin. I rested for 2 more weeks after finishing the antibiotics but was still coughing yellow mucus and feeling tired with moderate/mild activity.
Avatar m tn This is a complex situation; you're not going to be able to get definite answers on line, either in this forum or anywhere else. I'll just say that if you had a positive test for M genitalium, then you had the infection at that time. However, it doesn't necessarily mean it was the cause of your symptoms. And if your symptoms are continuing, it isn't necessarily because M genitalium is still there; the only way to know is to have another test for it.
Avatar m tn So you were tested for oral M. genitalium? 10 days of Moxifloxacin should be enough to eradicate the M. genitalium. in about 95% of strains. Have you checked if you are running a fever? Since you traveled could you have acquired a parasite? Also, did they do a urine culture on you? It would be good to get your kidneys checked as well (Bun, Creatinine blood tests) done to make sure they are functioning well. Be sure to drink enough water. You cuold have a eye infection.
Avatar f tn However, as I now know there are multiple ones out there that have never been tested for. He had pain with urination and came up positive for mycoplasma genitallium. I have done doxy and azithromycin and still came up positive for mycoplasma genitallium and ureaplasma. my partner and I are finishing up 14 days on Moxi and I am still having cramping. My partner is still having testicular pain. So I’m guessing this didn’t work either.
Avatar f tn It was also recently that my test results from a swab culture came positive for mycoplasma when in the past urine tests always said i was negative for all STDs. When my test results kept coming back negative the doctor told me it was fine to have sex with my partner. My partner also tested negative for everything and so after i finished the antibiotic treatments i waited a week before having sex.
Avatar m tn After this encounter, I began having symptoms after 10 days or so including sore throat, post-nasal drip, neck lymph nodes swollen, general fatigue (feels like low-grade fever but when temparature is checked, it is 97 to 99). Went to see a couple of doctors and they think it is sinus infection - so went on two anti-biotic treatments (Augmentin 10 days - which did not work, then Avelox 14 days). Just finished the Avelox course, but still having some post nasal drip and sore throat.
Avatar m tn if the problem persists or recurs, give the alternate drug plus metronidazole (Flagyl) or tinidazole (Tindamax) to cover trichomonas; and for still more recurrences, moxifloxacin, apparently the best drug for M. genitalium. If your treatments have been different than this, discuss it with your doctor. Some cases at this stage may be due to prostatitis. Infection due to unusual bacteria may need to be checked out.
Avatar f tn If symptoms continue, take 14 days minimum of Moxifloxacin. That is the only real hope of killing the infection.
177275 tn?1511755244 The FDA previously warned of adverse events associated with a compounded triamcinolone and moxifloxacin product for intravitreal injection, and of two serious adverse eventsassociated with a compounded curcumin emulsion product for injection that was being used for various conditions. More information about today's announcement is available on the FDA website.
Avatar m tn I had been on it once before almost a year ago for upper resp infection, (and worked great for that). I checked this AM for the first time in about 2 weeks, I noticed a very small amount of a more white-ish milky discharged, (however I don't continue to have a noticeable discharge throughout the day). It did not hurt when I urinated first when I woke up either.
Avatar f tn Cure rates with moxifloxacin are 100% According to some info I’ve found, and is used after Doxy and az. So id press to get moxifloxacin. moxifloxacin 400 mg daily for 7 to 14 days is the preferred antibiotic regimen.
Avatar m tn There are a couple other antibiotics that can be prescribed if NGU is persistent, Erythromycine or Moxifloxacin. However, I would only use Moxifloxacin as a last resort, as it can have some very harsh and lasting side effects. In addition, if it's fungal related (Trich) they can also treat you with an alternative regimen of metronizadole. Return to your doctor and discuss persistent NGU with him and CDC guidelines for testing and treating: http://www.cdc.

Avatar f tn I recently tested positive for Ureaplasma Urealyticum and Mycoplasma Hominis, my symptoms are - Frequent Urination. - Painful bladder that comes and goes - Pain in Groin Area - Tickle in throat that provokes a cough and mostly aggravated with dry Air. i have tried many different Antibiotics (Minocycline, Doxycycline, Zitromax) Anyone familiar with this painful infection ? Help ??
Avatar m tn I cannot imagine it is worth the time and expense to travel internationally to get some new drug for it. And while moxifloxacin resistance may be common in some parts of Australia, it appears to be effective in most geographic areas. As for any drug not being "allowed" for treatment of certain infections, that reflects a misunderstanding.
7892775 tn?1395673991 s a sinus infection without seeing doctor. I get a sinus infection this time every year and sometimes an ear infection with it. I was so hoping that maybe I would have some luck and not get one this year. I would call my other doctor and ask them to just call me a prescription in for an antibiotic but they won't do it because I'm pregnant and says to get permission from obgyn on what I can have. This really ***** I feel horrible.
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with what I thought was a sinus infection for the past week. Today was the first day I had relief from unrelenting facial pain without the need of painkillers. I was blowing out of lot of bloody mucus throughout the week, and today I blew out something from my nose that had the same feel of latex skin (link to a picture of it is provided below).
