Moxifloxacin and uti

Common Questions and Answers about Moxifloxacin and uti

avelox

Avatar m tn The pain got increasingly worse and 2 days later I went for a checkup. I was given a urinalysis and diagnosed with a UTI. I had a higher than usual white blood count. They did not check for STDs. The doctor prescribed Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride.I began the medication and within 2-3 days the stinging sensation while urinating had decreased. The following Friday July 8th I had conjunctivitis. I read online that this is a possible symptom of chlamydia.
Avatar f tn He had a continuous mild fever, swollen feet, and irritation while passing urine. We suspected UTI and got a urine culture/sensitivity test done on March 18. The report showed growth of E.coli. Since then, he has been prescribed four courses of antibiotics, but his fever is not abating. He was first on Martifur 100 mg, then on ciprofloxacin, then moxifloxacin, and currently on Amikacin 500 (twice daily). He has been given 6 injections already, but the fever shows no signs of abating.
Avatar m tn Pulled out right away and we stopped. 3 days later, i experienced mild urethra irritation(like a chaffing feeling right inside the tip) i got tested 1 week later for EVERYTHING. All turned up neg. I then got retested at 14 days. Again all neg. In the meantime, i took azrithromyocin 1gm, next day, flagyl, then a 2 week dose of doxycycline and one cipro pill. My doc wanted to cover all my bases in case it was an NGU. I still have the mild irritation and rarely have mild relief at times.
Avatar m tn If you meant to say that you took Moxifloxacin, and you still have symptoms, it just means that you have multi drug resistance MG. Yes, there are STD’s in this country that are not known about AND MG is the culprit behind many undiagnosable urethritis/prostatitis issues. This is way more common than the doctors even know about. I’m not saying this to scare you, I’m saying this. because it’s the truth.
Avatar m tn doxycycline, azithromycin and moxifloxacin. The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?
Avatar n tn A recent study was done to show that Myco was only erradicated by 85% of those on the Azithro regiment described, however Avelox ( Moxifloxacin) killed Myco in all cases. Routine is to try described Azithro regimen first and if symtoms still exist Moxifloxacin. Why? I guess so that Myco doesn't become Moxifloxacin resistant. Save the bugs, kill the patient kind of thing. I say take the 400mg a day X 10 day regiment of Moxifloxacin and help yourself.
Avatar f tn Cure rates with moxifloxacin are 100% According to some info I’ve found, and is used after Doxy and az. So id press to get moxifloxacin. moxifloxacin 400 mg daily for 7 to 14 days is the preferred antibiotic regimen.
788075 tn?1366513312 High uric acid Puss in urine Small crystals present He said that he believes it is a minor non-transmittable UTI and prescribed 500mg Cipro / 2 x day/ 5 days. Told me to cut down on red meat intake to lower uric acid. Does this seem accurate? Asking as this clinic is in Iraq and highly questionable. Thanks!
Avatar m tn But the doctor mentioned that my white blood cell count is slightly higher than normal ( WBC count taken from the swabs, not from my blood work) and mentioned that there might be an infection so she prescribed Avelox (Moxifloxacin), 4 x 400mg once daily. The background is, I am Chinese male, been with my girlfriend for about a year and both of us have been loyal and we were both asymptomatic before this event.
Avatar m tn November 22 (103 days after contact, 3 after the end of the treatment with Moxifloxacin and 54 after the one with Bassado) - test: Treponema Ab (Chemiluminescence) less than 0.1 and Vdrl less than 1:2 - NEGATIVE; December 15th - test (126 days after contact and 23 days after the end of treatment with Moxifloxacin): pharyngeal PCR / Hcv Ab both NEGATIVE; Around January 14th I noticed a pink patch in the groin area (to which a very small one was added nearby), itchy and also flaking.
Avatar n tn did you take moxifloxacin?
Avatar m tn I told this doctor because I build a relationship with him over the past couple of years and I saw the article and shared the rest with him. Anyway after 2 weeks on Moxifloxacin and I found how I felt when I ejaculated as I did prior to ever contracting MG. Also, I tested negative for MG but here's the punch, my girlfriend tested positive after specifically asking for it. Yet me positive. Anyway, long story short everything is fine now. Good as new.
Avatar m tn I have tested negative for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, TB and mycloplasma. Symptoms first occured around 3 weeks after having unprotected sex with a female. Symptoms: Pain/stinging when urinating Itchy / Inflamed tip of penis Creamy white discharge from penis (NOT from under the foreskin but from the 'hole' especially in the mornings) (No swollen lymph nodes, testicles are not swollen or painful) Treatment failures so far (in order) 1. Doxycycline - 7 day course 2.
Avatar m tn Be that as it may, with repeated treatments with both doxycycline and azithromycin, you may wish to talk to your doctor about a course of moxifloxacin. Your situation is a difficult one and moxifloxacin has proven to be effective against chlamydia, mycoplasma genitalium and gets into the prostate well. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I recently tested positive for Ureaplasma Urealyticum and Mycoplasma Hominis, my symptoms are - Frequent Urination. - Painful bladder that comes and goes - Pain in Groin Area - Tickle in throat that provokes a cough and mostly aggravated with dry Air. i have tried many different Antibiotics (Minocycline, Doxycycline, Zitromax) Anyone familiar with this painful infection ? Help ??
Avatar f tn He had pain with urination and came up positive for mycoplasma genitallium. I have done doxy and azithromycin and still came up positive for mycoplasma genitallium and ureaplasma. my partner and I are finishing up 14 days on Moxi and I am still having cramping. My partner is still having testicular pain. So I’m guessing this didn’t work either. I would assume my symptoms should be cleared up right after the treatment, right? Anyone have success getting any other medications in the USA?
Avatar m tn When I came it felt so ******* great I thought my prostatitis went away no it got vicious more than ever to i once again sought medical treatment found out my CBP all these years was mg and now everything is cleared up I am still on the moxifloxacin and rifampin as a precaution since I had it for 16 years and the fact I had a really high bacterial load.
177275 tn?1511755244 The FDA previously warned of adverse events associated with a compounded triamcinolone and moxifloxacin product for intravitreal injection, and of two serious adverse eventsassociated with a compounded curcumin emulsion product for injection that was being used for various conditions. More information about today's announcement is available on the FDA website.
Avatar m tn i actually had my follow up visit with my urologist yesterday and I inquired about moxifloxacin and he said that he it is not available in the untied states. my urologist was still unaware of what to do for me so he referred me to the infectious disease department because, as he said, they can do more extensive lab testing. i am beyond frustrated @ this point and i wonder how many men has had a similar problem.
Avatar f tn I’ve taken zithro, doxy, Bactrim, over the summer. And lots of it. And recently I’ve taken cipro and a shot of rocephin. It was also recently that my test results from a swab culture came positive for mycoplasma when in the past urine tests always said i was negative for all STDs. When my test results kept coming back negative the doctor told me it was fine to have sex with my partner.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia 6 weeks ago. I was on oral antibiotics for 2 days, then admitted with an IV drip for 3 days (levifloxacin, as I'm allergic to penicillin-based drugs) then given a 5 day course of oral clarithromyacin. I rested for 2 more weeks after finishing the antibiotics but was still coughing yellow mucus and feeling tired with moderate/mild activity.
Avatar f tn We have been together about year and a half (and he has not had sex with anybody else for about 2,5 years and then with a condom). Could it be that he got it even before that, so maybe 3-4 years ago and it didn’t show? And how is it possible that in november I tested negative for the same thing and we have regular sex? I am pretty sure he hasn’t cheated on me.
Avatar n tn All tests and cultures thus far negative. I have not tried the Rocephin shot yet nor Moxifloxacin. Symptoms started ~5 days after I received unprotected oral sex, firstly an occasional burning and itchy urethra, eventually other things too, but currently I am suffering from occasional burning and aching in urethra/anal area and persistent non itchy rash and feeling of flushed skin with normal temperature. I have had occasional headaches and extreme fatigue bouts.
Avatar m tn My only certain symptom has been unchanged over the 11 weeks and is a swollen urethra. More red and blue than usual and more sore. A bit worse after urination and masturbation. The doctors have prescribed me for nsu...week 1 azithromycin, week 3 metronidizole, week 5 low dose oxytetracycline , 6 weeks nitrofuratoin as at this visit a uti culture came back positive. A retest for a uti one week later was negative but my symptoms were unchanged throughout all treatments.
Avatar m tn After returning to the US, I had tests done again which all came negative, including standard broad spectrum STD testing and even mycoplasma (blood test, not swab) yet symptoms still exist. I have gone through two courses of levofloxacin (30 days) and one course of moxifloxacin (10 days) yet it still persists. The moxifloxacin seemed to have more effectiveness. I've seen several similar posts in this community and hope someone can help or share their experience. Many thanks!
