Avatar f tn Serum albumin is produced by the liver, occurs dissolved in blood plasma and is the most abundant blood protein in mammals. Albumin is essential for maintaining the oncotic pressure needed for proper distribution of body fluids between blood vessels and body tissues. The reference range for albumin concentrations in serum is approximately 3.5 - 5.0 g/dl So, also for albumin you are within normal range.

Avatar m tn With nutrition we can only take in 5-10% of our daily cholesterol need, the rest is produced by our organism itself. However other dangerous factors in food can affect the production of ACHA quite seriously such as additives, preservatives, stabilizers, coloring, antibiotics, hormone products eaten by livestock or fruits and vegetables sprayed by fertilizers and pesticides.
Avatar n tn Now, my understanding was that all T3 (bound and unbound) is produced from Free T4. Well, you can see that my Free T4 is 1.41 ng/dL, and that my Total T3 (bound and unbound) is 106 ng/dL. Obviously, the amount of Total T3 is far greater than the amount of Free T4. So, is all T3 (bound and unbound) produced from Free T4? Or is there another source of T3? Thank you for any info.
Avatar f tn Additionally, consumption of the oil blend coupled with high blood pressure medication produced even more optimal results among average aged men and women. Fatty acids and antioxidants found in the oils are likely helping to reduce blood pressure. High cholesterol among test subjects also saw a decline, with a 26 percent decrease in LDL's (bad cholesterol) and a 9.5 percent increase in HDL's (good cholesterol).
Avatar m tn 6, LDL is 122.1, Triglycerides is 98 and VLDL cholesterol is 19.7. Is my cholesterol level normal or slightly high? can i take omega 3 tablets? is Nutrelite Omega 3 good?
Avatar n tn There are all kinds of statins out there, as ed said, you have to find out which one you tolerate. I have been on them for many years as I was unable to lower my LDL with diet and exercise alone. They have worked well and I have had no side effects, but everyone is different. Most of these can be replaced by the generic Simvastatin. It's cheap and is the basis of many of the meds out there.
Avatar f tn The ratio of LDL and HDL is calculated by dividing the total cholesterol by HDL. For example if the cholesterol is 180 and HDL 82 then the cholesterol ratio is 2.2. An inappropriate ratio leads to increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
362971 tn?1201987034 All the doctors seem to think that my low cholesterol is great. Total cholesterol is 110. Triglycerides are 43. HDL is 48 and LDL is 53. But I remember my Cholesterol being about 150 around 15 years ago when I probably had less Liver damage. I am GT 3 which causes Fatty Liver. I thought I read on a post that HR said something about a comprimised Liver not making enough Cholesterol.
Avatar m tn No, not really. Cholesterol is produced by your body based on what it needs with only 10% coming from what you eat so at most malabsorption would only affect that 10%.
Avatar f tn Generally, if a condom is worn there is no risk unless it gets broken. Also, usually if there is no blood such as from bleeding gums, teeth, sores on the penis, or in the mouth you may be okay from HIV at least. But since you could have had damage, if no condom was worn and if you don't know his STD status you may want to get checked for that too about 10-15 days from exposure then in about 30 days. This is for your protection.
Avatar m tn Chlorogenic acid raises the synthesis of adiponectin, a hormone, which is produced by fat tissues. This adiponectin suppresses fat tissue development and promotes energy expenditure, burning fat in the human body. The amalgamation of adiponectin and leptin (a hormone secreted by fat tissues) helps increase insulin resistance. Chlorogenic acid acts as an antioxidant, and neutralises free radicals, which damage the cells in your body.
Avatar f tn Bile, which helps your body digest fats, cannot be produced without cholesterol. Cholesterol is also a vital component of many hormones. Aldosterone is one such hormone, and helps to control the balance of minerals, one of them being magnesium. Aldosterone needs magnesium to be produced and it also regulates magnesium's balance. Cholesterol is also needed in the production of sex hormones, to keep your reproductive system working correctly.
5517861 tn?1369125213 When your thyroid is functioning correctly, the amount of thyroid hormone produced is regulated by another hormone called TSH, for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland. TSH levels move in opposite directions from thyroid hormones. If the thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, the pituitary gland will produce more TSH to try to stimulate the thyroid gland. This is what is happening in your body.
Avatar n tn A microwave oven decays and changes the molecular structure of the food by the process of radiation.
Avatar f tn I am unsure of the effects of thyroid meds on the liver, but I do know that Statin Drugs to treat High Cholesterol do affect the Liver Enzymes and raise them in many people, High Cholesterol is known to be caused by thyroid disease, along with high blood pressure. Alcohol has the same effect on liver enzymes as the statin drugs, The first time I had a Lipid panel done after being prescribed Lipitor , the MD's nurse asked me if I was aheavy drinker?
1765695 tn?1313669583 One supplement works through the liver just like a statin — because it is a statin, a natural one. Mevastatin is produced naturally by red rice yeast. You can add red rice yeast to your diet by picking up a container at the health foods store. (I suggest Nature's Plus Herbal Actives Red Yeast Rice Extended Release 600 mg) Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil and vitamin B3 (niacin), remain the champions of the supplements.
Avatar f tn I'm in the same boat. CT scan of 0. Why the heck would we go on statins? Makes no sense. Especially if you start comparing CT scans. My Triglicerydes are so high my organs should be shutting down. but my CT is pristine. really cool to see the images if you get a chance.
Avatar m tn I do remember watching a fantastic documentary about 4 years ago where 12 volunteers were chosen. The 12 volunteers had a mixture of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, shortness of breath and weight issues. Some were pretty well up on the scale. They were put into an empty ape enclosure and had to live in tents. Each day, they were brought containers of washed, but uncooked chopped fruits, vegetables and nuts. Water was the only drink allowed.
1291107 tn?1272202031 A high intake of saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol produced in the liver and therefore the amount in the blood. A high level of cholesterol in the blood is associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease. The major sources of saturated fat are cooking fats, margarine, fatty meats, full fat milk, cheese, chips, biscuits, pastries and sweets contribute to the cholesterol content of your diet and it is highly recommended to eat less fat and fatty foods.
Avatar m tn “The new ‘normal’ promoted by drug companies is 180. Hammering cholesterol down with statin drugs is the wrong approach.” Causes of Heart Disease The Archives of Internal Medicine has just published the results if its “EPIC” study. Researchers took 23,000 people and studied their risk factors for heart disease. They found that changes in diet reduced heart attack risk by 81 percent. How could such simple changes deliver such amazing results?
594914 tn?1245263684 More specifically, the estradiol and estrone forms are produced in the ovaries, while estriol is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. In women, estrogen circulates in the bloodstream and binds to estrogen receptors on cells in targeted tissues, affecting not only the breast and uterus, but also the brain, bone, liver, heart and other tissues.
