Avatar f tn On a UDS using the GC/MS or LC/MS Opiates UDS the metabolites of Morphine, may show Hydromorphone if on high dose or chronic Morphine . I found another site that stated, "A new study confirm that hydromorphone is a minor metabolite of morphine and appears on urine drug testing (UDT)." This was an older article but still was discussing the results of a Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy GCMS, UDS.
Avatar m tn You are experiencing symptoms of opioid withdrawal -- one of which is hyper (high) algesia (feeling of pain). Hyperalgesia means you're experience increased pain for no apparent reason, other than opiate withdrawal. Opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH)is one of the most understudied aspects of opioid research.
Avatar n tn Per mg, hydromorphone is 8x stronger than morphine. The w/d from hydromorphone is significantly stronger but usually lasts a shorter duration due to a 2.3hr half life.
Avatar m tn MS is not the same as Hydromorphone. Is it MS Contin you're on, or just Morphine Sulphate? Hydromorphone is another name for Dilaudid, which I'm sure you've heard before in hospitals. Dilauidid is usually used as he short acting medication for breakthrough pain, while long acting, ER-extended relief, or 12 hour release pills are typically either of the Morphine or Oxycodine class.
Avatar m tn Hydromorphone and Morphine are two different drugs all together. It's hard to tell which one is making you feel so unmotivated. I take Morphine Sulfate ER with 10mg percocet breakthrough and the only side effects I have are nightmares and constipation. I eat really healthy. I eat oatmeal twice a day with chia seeds and I try and bike a few minutes a day. This gives me more energy then I can deal with.
1042572 tn?1254500587 I am on 4mg hydromorphone 5 times a day for approx. 7 years, not working anymore just making me sick.I want off them but how do I manage this without it effecting my life and job.? I have tried missing a dose as my doc said but I find myself getting quite ill effects. Please help!
Avatar f tn The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people? I stopped taking oxy on my own, & basically brought them to the dr. & said I wasn't taking these. I had had a very very strange week of no sleeping, confusion etc. .. My husband & I figured it out to be the addition of lyrica.
1052851 tn?1307741160 The opiate that I use for my severe migraine pain (I use it only for the most severe migraine pain) is called hydromorphone... again, different from morphine or what you were given in the hospital. It is what they have always given me in the hospital because I cannot tolerate morphine and it works very well for me. But, different hospitals use different medications and different doctors like to prescribe different medications and different patients can tolerate different medications...
Avatar f tn DILAUDID (hydromorphone hydrochloride) is an opiate (a morphine like substance). How much have you been taking? A little more information might be helpful to understand your question. I am glad you found this forum.

541953 tn?1262586226 Hi Scaredmom, I take OpanaER 15mg twice a day. I can't tell you how it holds up to Morphine, because I'm allergic to Morphine, but I do get fairly good pain control. I've heard that It's stronger than Morphine but I have also heard some people argue that it is not. The only thing that I would wonder is if you have anything for breakthrough pain. I find that I do need breakthrough pain meds. Oh and the drug is oxymorphone hcl. Hope that helps and good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I recently found myself in a position where I have no Vs and am unable to obtain any. My doc had given my Adderol for depression and for focusing so I can work. I find that when I'm going through the w/d, the adderol helps with the cravings and other w/d effects, except the sleepless nights, crazy legs and no appetite. I was doing up to 20 Vs a day for chronic back and neck pain from ruptured discs. So many of us have this problem.
Avatar f tn Welcome TTC Actually, clean opiates, once off them and through the w/d don't leave permanent damage. At least I know that is true for plain morphine, oxycodone because it is synthetic I don't know... that is just the body. The emotional, mental aspects can take longer, but I found after 10 years of addiction to morphine, once I was off I felt completely normal after about 6 months... Functional after 1 month. The first 2 weeks off I was very messed up.
Avatar m tn My Pain Management doctor wants to go up on dosage of patch, but I would like to know what other patches are available other than Morphine and Fentanyl.Someone told me there was a hydromorphone patch. If so,please list name and dosages.
Avatar m tn I gave him back all my 100 mg morphine and all my hydromorphone and asked for a lower dosage. He then gave me 30mg twice a day for a week...that was okay...I could deal with it....But now I don't have any of those left. I am okay for about 2 or 3 days and then the withdrawal symptoms get really bad (and I take another 100 mg capsule--I saved about 10 of them)...I am cold(freezing) all the time, terrible bouts of depression, and then I get gross body movements happening..
Avatar f tn on my lab when i was looking it over it said i was negative for hydrocodone and i take strong doses so i am confused on that im fighting to prove my innoce and save my pride and good name, i also grt nubain shots and the person who did up my paper with my perscriptions did not put that on there , and from my under standing hydromorphone and nubane have the sme chemical make up.
Avatar m tn Someone very close to me has been using morphine for over 15 years, and has severe stomach issues that are to this day unresolved. He was hospitalized for 5 days about four years ago, and then for 6 days about half of a year ago. It only happens every so often, but it's really a concern, especially since none of the specialsist, universities, and the nations best health care can figure out what's wrong with him.
Avatar n tn You should talk to your doctor and see what he thinks I personally have tried Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) for over 8 months and it produces effects similar to weak opiates than morphine. I personally had no nausea, and the doctor can titrate increase or decrease the dosage very easily. I've also had personal experience with I.V. morphine since I had cancer and It did cause nausea at high doses 15mg-25mg I.V. but after some time...
