1645944 tn?1305243337 In the past few years, I have begun having a histamine reaction to Morphine and Dilaudid, which knocks out Demerol by association. When I received it by IV in the hospital, I broke out in a rash on my chest, felt like I couldn't breathe - like a weight was on my chest (even though my pulse ox was 100%), couldn't entirely move my arms and legs, and couldn't talk. So, there go the narcotics. Ummm, in two days they are gonna cut my head open, HELP?!
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
654183 tn?1225309036 My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.
Avatar n tn my brother is on his death bed dying from cancer and we are wondering if he can be detoxing from his dose of methadone after eight years of been off drugs , he is getting high doses of morphine now but still he is very aggiatate and no one is telling us whats going on
Avatar m tn I have read about all kinds of DOC's on this site, but few about morphine. Could someone please advise me about this particular drug? Like: What is the half life, how hard are the physical withdrawals, how long do they last, etc.? I'm asking because someone is on here (was on here) that was on morphine and percocet. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
Avatar n tn my mother had a stroke 10 years ago and had a pacemaker put in as a result of low blood pressure.she recently had her pacemaker check-up(annually) and they put her on morphine(4 days) even though she is in no pain.
1808595 tn?1316359530 They're not going to give you morphine in the hospital!!! If you go to an inpatient detox, they'll give you things to help ease withdrawals and they'll monitor your blood pressure and make sure you're hydrated, but no one is going to give you IV narcotics or narcotics in pill form. It doesn't solve the problem. You need to decide what you're going to do and make a plan. YOu can go inpatient to detox; you can go CT at home, or you can taper at home.
Avatar f tn Will a urine test know what class 2 schedule drugs are being taken whether an oxy or vicodin? I have a script for 10 mg vicodin but ran out and friend let ke take a 5mg oxy for my pain till script coupd be refilled...i then took a urine test..both meds re a class 2 schedule so will the urine test know the difference?
Avatar m tn Hey, as a current HEAVY morphine addict i know how u feel. my doctor says "pain is inevitable, suffering isn't" and i completely agree with that, but, read my post if u wan tto hear my story, i know when my mother had her 2nd back surgery they had her on the morphine system where u click a button and stuff and she was just super nausea and they said she had an allergy to it so they gave her dilauded or w/e but later we learned it was just her diabetes.
Avatar n tn One of the best parts of getting off these drugs is how we do get our lives back and all the positive changes that come. What type of treatment are you doing after? Do you mean some type of aftercare too?
Avatar n tn I think lilkim is on the right track but I would tend to think it would be from the combination of the drugs. The Morphine is more apt to cause stomach upset, especially if your not use to taking that amount. I would definitly call the Doctor and tell him that you've been vomiting with the meds and see if he can't lower the dose for you. He might just give you something different for the pain as Doctors do not like to hear that you've been vomiting.
Avatar f tn not exactly..oxy in theory is a bit stronger than hydro..and sub is a different type of narcotic than the other 2..but conversoin charts do compare the strength of sub to other narcotics..but it is not really the effect they r comparing//but the strength...i do believe there is a conversion chart in avisg's journal...
Avatar n tn Hi yes it is normal behavior for Morphine, when you first start it your on top of the world then comes irritation and depression and even nightmares for some. How much is he on? How long? and dose he want to quit?
Avatar f tn Took an awful long time to figure that I was SENSITIVE to morphine/codeine. After operations I went nuts with nausea and ITCHING...that dang oxygen thing up my nose!! I told them FINALLY about this that I finally had to figure out on my own and got on different anesthesia. WOW. What a difference!! Allergies imply something altogether different and one CAN develop an allergy to drugs such as morphine and THAT YOU don't want happening.
535089 tn?1400673519 I am a person that morphine does not work well for at all. I get much better pain relief from drugs that one would usually consider to not be as strong as morphine. So many of these issues really vary based on the individual.
Avatar f tn TN pain is usually controlled by anti-convulsant drugs such as Tegretol, Gabapentin, or Trileptal among others. Morphine is usually prescribed for Trigeminal Neuropathic pain -- similar but a more constant type of pain. If your TN is caused by the tumors, removing them may resolve the pain for you. But your doctors would be able to answer that question.
886779 tn?1253644204 How much morphine are you using and what are they giving it to you for. If you are trying to withdraw from morphine permanently, plan on feeling like death for at least the first few weeks. I was told to go to a detox facility and that I couldn't break the addiction on my own. Well, after 8 years of having 16 mg morphine shots for cluster migraines and neck problems, I had had enough of it, and I wanted to be free from having to go to the doctor every single day of my life for pain control.
Avatar f tn m gonna get the guts to ask the question. I just turned 32 weeks. My state tests newborns for drugs. I finally got off everything two days ago, but i'm still afraid the baby will have something in her system. She is the reason i cleaned up. I don't want to lose her. I was taking morphine and somas. And like i said i've been off for 2 days now and haven't looked back. Will those drugs show up in her system considering i don't take them anymore and don't plan on it either?
Avatar m tn Even when I shattered my leg skiing and I was in the hospital on a MorphinePatient button drip, it did nothing. Does anyone have this problem of Morphine drugs not having ANY affect on pain for them? I don't even feel the side affects and I am still going through the DT's from the Methadone. At least the Methadone kept my pain at bay so I could function.
Avatar f tn My mother is currently being weaned from Morphine that she was prescribed for back pain for many months. Do any drugs prescribed for Morphine withdrawal cause slurred speech? When I speak to my mom on the phone, she sounds like a drunk person every time I talk to her. This has been going on for weeks now. She swears she's not drinking alcohol and says it's the drugs she's been taking for the withdrawal. Any info is greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
Avatar m tn I have become physically dependent on MS Contin which is the same type of med as oxycontin only Morphine is the narcotic instead of oxcycondone. I was prescribed this as a pain control medication for 2 years at which time they diagnosed my condition which required surgery. After surgery I now feel I don't need this strong pain med any longer and my other pain can be handled by a weaker pain med like percocet.
