699217 tn?1323438700 I'll do my best..... Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.
Avatar n tn However, if he is not suicidal and has a prolonged history of morphine/opiate abuse, shows mild,if any, symptoms of intoxification and is otherwise "normal" then he should be fine. Whilst 300 mgs of morphine is considerable for someone who is opiate naive, it is relatively routine for the experienced addict. Anyways, like i said, based on the information you provided, i am left to fill the cavernous blanks with speculative assumptions and wild guesses.
Avatar f tn When I started I was on 125mcg Fentynal patches every 72 hours and Morphine Sulphate 30mg 1x per day. 30mg was too much for me at once so I bite it in half and take it every 12 hours unless I don't need it. I also began seeing a gentle spine care chiropractor during all this and it has changed my life! I was shocked that a "doctor" would just throw medications like Fentynal at me for years without offering me ALL possible options for recovery!
Avatar m tn Aloha all, I forgot to add that I went off the morphine once before and on the third day after I started having WD's and took some more morphine, wish I would have just stayed off and would probably be OK by now.
Avatar f tn Suboxone is the brand name for a medication consisting of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means that when its molecule binds to a receptor, it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine.
740917 tn?1268247536 Most pain meds are prescribed every 4-6 hrs. anyway. The Morphine is a very strong medication and can make you very sleepy or depress your breathing. For this reason, you really need a Docs approval for an increaase. I think what you need is a breakthrough pain med. Something you can take every 4 hrs. that isn't as strong as the current med you on. Ask you Doc about that. It might give you the comfort level your looking for.
Avatar n tn Although 12 hrs have passed, but still clinical examination from a doctor is mandatory to rule out any morphine overdose. Morphine overdose occurs when a person intentionally or accidentally takes too much of the medicine. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn m not really sure. I had some kind of pain medication because I had to wait awhile for my epidural to arrive. Anyways they injected it into my iv. I felt like I was completely drunk. The nurse said it would take the edge off the pain and she was right. I still hurt but it was manageable. The epidural works great usually. Your legs will be numb but usually you feel little to no pain from contractions.
Avatar f tn morphine pumps do help a lot of people deal with cronic pain, myself being one of those, I have had mine for 3 yrs now, and I am just starting to have my first problem, swollen calfs, ankles, feet, and iching, same areas, so a change is needed of the medication, morphine, and no these pumps don't cure anything, that's not what they do, they help fight pain and hopfully lets you live a little better life, I am thankfull for 3 yrs of improved pain relief instead of all the pain without it,
Avatar n tn He received 10 mg morphine in the ambulance, then 6 mg dilaudid, 4 mg zofran, and 1 mg ativan in about an hour. He weighs 190 lbs and is 6 feet tall. He suffered cardiopulmonary arrest. Could this combination of drugs have been the culprit? He received narcan and cpr and was resuscitated, thankfully. Some docs believe it was narcotic induced and others say it was a vagel down. Can you explain this?

Avatar f tn I am on very strong pain meds for my lupus & fibro (morphine & demerol) which I take daily regardless if I'm in that level of pain or not..the morphine that is, the demerol is for break thru pain only (this was directed by both my family doctor as well as my rheumatologist). I suspect maybe this regimen is causing other serious health issues. The past 3 days I have had lupus flare type symptoms....

Avatar n tn I'm sorry I'm late finding this post and I hope by now you've either started feeling better, or have sought medical attention. More than likely what you're experiencing (experienced) was a case of low blood sugar. As I'm sure you know, the Glyburide-Metformin helps to lower the blood sugar of someone who has diabetes. If you take it and don't have diabetes, it can cause an unsafe drop in your blood sugar.
Avatar n tn Good Lord, what was that doctor thinking with that huge boost? That is NOT how thyroid med adjustment is done. That said, I don't think it would cause a spinal lesion. That's coincidental. But it would definitely cause those hyperthyroid symptoms you were experiencing. I'd think that any sensory symptoms from thyroid imbalance would resolve with restoration of appropriate levels.
