Your dr can convert you to an immediate release/short acting lower dose of morphine to take as needed and perhaps cut out the fentanyl altogether at this point. Then you can use the immediate release morphine to continue your taper until you are finished.

I think that advil works the best for the ones that don't go over a 6/10 pain level BUT i think that advil also causes terrible rebound headaches so I have completely stopped taking it 'cept for very rarely when I am sure that I have an inflamed muscle or something like that or for a fever. As for 9/10 10/10 pain, I think that hydromorphone works the best. It is better than morphine because it doesn't make you feel sick. I wouldn't suggest a high dose.

Although 12 hrs have passed,but still clinical examination from a doctor is mandatory to rule out any morphine overdose. I don't know abt. the patch, it seems like it would prolong the withdrawl. Possibly delay the inevitable but give some relief. Are you withdrawling voluntarily or till your next prescription ? Usually by day 5 a person starts to feel better and alot of the really bad stuff is over. I really do think the fentanly is a bad idea but I know how being addicted goes, we just want it to go away. You are still within (although at strong pain requirements) the dosing range of morphine.....taper the morphine at 20mg per week for a couple weeks.....then do the same at 15mg .......decrease so you do not have strong abdominal cramps......dont go so fast that the w/d's become a problem.................

I still feel a significant amount of pain. I assume I have become tolerant of the medication. I do not want to increase the dose if at all possible. My sister died of a prescribed Morephine overdose. I have a friend that has spinal cancer and is on 10mg Oxycontin 8 times a day and 40mg morphine 6 times a day. Can a baby overdose off of hydrocodone, oxycodone , or Roxycodone through breast milk if the mother takes the right dosage, or slightly more, only once a day and not everyday. Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.

t see it as very toxic. It takes high dose for a long time to actually cause permanent damage with opiates. Pure heroin is not even real toxic to the body or brain, it is the impurities, not the opiates that cause damage, mostly. Unless there is some pre-existing condition that the opiates triggered, there really is no scientific reason you would have done permanent damage with pharmaceutical grade opiates. Just my opinion, of coarse.
