I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same. Ask if you can take Benadryl while breastfeeding. It helped SOOO MUCH when I was itchy. I guess I'm allergic to either morphine or demerol too cause the exact same thing happened to me. Anyways, the benadryl helped me, but I wasn't breastfeeding while I was taking it, Elijah was on oxygen in the nursery the first 24 hours, and then I had to give him formula after cause he was a little jaundiced and my milk hadn't come in...

The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................

My understanding is that this study was done for the purpous of drug testing and why in some cases the drug came up negative in tests. However, my pain became worst so I was sent to a pain management doctor who know has me on 15mg OxyContin and 15mg morphine er. We treat our babies with phenobarbital for seizure control and morphine for withdrawal symptoms. The morphine is the one that we wean down every 2 to 3 days depending on baby's tolerance.
