I take morphine sulfate for breakthrough pain. I'm just at a loss at what to do anymore.
I had a LONG talk with my doctor after she put me on morphine for the pain. I explained to her, that I am not here for the drugs, just a few shots to alleviate some of the pain and finally she has agreed to trigger point injections. (She claims I have had my steroid shots for the year) I will take anything for the pain and the morphine helps but the drugs only work on the perception in the mind. My pain is in my hip and does not stop!
I don't know how long the appointment will take for a second oppion but I know I wont get this before 1st May so what the hell do I do. I am currently taking neurontin 1800mg per day for the nerves and 30mg of morphine for the pain. I would like to know if anyone out there is suffering with the same problems, and what are you doing to cope with them. Thank you very much...
These have not given any relief, in fact one of the anti-seisure meds sent me to the emerg. Presently, I am on sr morphine and for the awful days oxycodone. I try to keep the pain meds to a minimum, but some days you just have to give in. I understand the frustration and am flabber-ghasted that there is no other type of relief out there, I could understand chronic pain like this in a much older body, but this can be so tiresome.
Chiropractic took care of the scoliosis caused pains for a while and now seems to have no good effect on minimizing the pain - not even for the sciatica on the left side. Any one out there who has the knowledge about the right conversions - I would appreciate very much your wisdom on this.
After I had my daughter the pain only got worse. I've been on methadone for a year now for pain. My MRI shows that its not my back, which I insist to my doctor its my hip. I keep being told that theres nothing to be done, but I dont want to be on pain meds anymore. I spend everyday of my life in horrible pain. When I bend over I loose the strength in my left leg. If I dont take my pain meds I cant get out of bed, because Im screaming in agony.
My hip is killing me but I won't take a pill pain so it has made me think of when I was in basic training and they had given me a shot in the butt for the pain. It didnt make me feel any different but boy did it help with the pain. I am wondering if anyone has heard of it? I am not sure if they use it in private medicane or not. Thanks!
I would say that for that much medication, they may have been on them for some time. I've got 3 sources of pain (DDD Cervical Radiculopathy, Patella Femoral Syndrome/Chrondomalacia and Sciatica/Back pain) and after 2 years of opiate medication am now at 90mg of Morphine a day down from 180 due to rotation. If their pain is that bad, they need something done....badly. Surgery? Conservative treatment? I don't know.
I have honestly wondered if I could do as well, on the relaxing/sleeping front, with some good single malt scotch , but for now I have started 3 times a week 'pain management yoga' class that has stretched out the sciatica related muscles that become so inflamed. Again thanks for your comment and support.
baby was in NICU for 4weeks(I believe)-may have been a bit longer, and sent home with prescription for liquid morphine and was safely detoxed. Mom was still addicted because of her prescribing DR and CPS took ALL THREE of her children anyway...............now mind you, Mom ended up taking Dr. to court, went through rehab, etc..etc...and she finally got kids back. This happened 6 or 7 years ago. In the end: -DR passed away about 3 years ago from Hodgekins lymphoma....
I have been told that this medicine is good for Chronic Pain. I know it is also for use with people that have seizures. Could someone tell me how Neurontin has helped or hurt them. I have been taking it at night 300mg small dose for sleep and Chronic Pain. I dont want to go to a higher dosage until I research more. My doctor says this is a good helpful medicine. I just want to get more input. Thank you very much for your help. Shelly.
Hey guys. I'm starting to see a new PM doctor for the first time in 2 days. I'm excited, and nervous at the same time. Long story short, I have at least 2 herniated disks, and DDD, and 2 or 3 bulging disks in the lumbar area. I've had every Dr, physical therapy, epidurals, etc. After all of this, and 4 years later, I'm in more pain than ever and having sciatica too. Can't sit/ stand for more than a few minutes. Finally I'm seeing a PM doctor and wondering what he will do to help.
Buprenex is used as an injectible for pain control for post op pain as opposed to morphine. It has a lot of similar qualities as morphine. You should only have a couple of days of w/ds with Bup whereas Meth will linger on awhile. They use Bup also as a detox from meth. But from what I have read, not vice versa. You will be a lot less uncomfortable the Bup route, IMHO, only.
Gabapentin has been helpful for the sciatica though. I used to take Tramadol a couple of years ago...I took it for about 3 years...fizzled out after 1 year. It wouldn't make a dent in my pain now given the new damage so I know how much the Tramadol "helps". Anyways, do let us know how your appointment went!
im am trying to stop my pain meds. im on methadone and morphine, and i have been on oxys/percocets for over a year. is there anyone that can talk to me and help me with this, i just feel really bad. my name is barbara. from modesto ca.
I started using it because of severe sciatica type leg pains and I used it for most of the time I was doing Peg and Riba. When that treatment was over I weened myself off of it. This time (Infergen and Riba) he prescribed it right up front. My legs and back were really hurting this morning so when I got up I took one and now I'm ok. Just a thought, since plain old ibuprofen or acetominaphen didn't work for me.
If it wasn't for that, I'd still be in bed on a heating pad, and crawling to the bathroom. My husband's mother went down a month ago with Sciatica, and I was pushing for the Lyrica. They gave it to her, and did an Epidural, and after 6 weeks, she's getting around, and using a walker when she needs one. If you have Sciatica, you have to try Lyrica. It works. So does Esgic Plus for migraines. Good luck to all. Hope I helped someone.
For 10 years I have experienced a discomfort in my right upper side in the exact place the biopsy was taken. I've always felt like they hit a nerve and just left the burning feeling there. I seems to have deminished since starting treatment in November (odd) I do have periods of right shoulder pain the goes from my shoulder joint to the base of my neck. This came with the treatment I believe. Biggest pain issue for me is hip joints, knee joints and ankles and toes.
Hi, Thanks for writing in. Pain in the thigh leg and foot can be due to nerve compression. Does it go all the way upto your toes? If yes the possibility is sciatica. I would suggest you to take rest apply cold packs to your back and take B complex supplements. You can also do some back and legs exercises and take OTC anti-inflammtories. If your symptoms do not improve please consult your PCP about it.
So FINALLY I'm set to go in for spinal injections on Dec 1st for this back pain I've been having for the last 3 years. Xrays and all that don't show anything, not even MRI's show anything and they haven't ever shown anything to account for my pain. The pain mgmt Dr. thinks that I had a muscle injury when I fell that for some reason hasn't ever healed as it should and 3 years later I still deal with chronic lower back pain just to the right of my spine.
I'm 25 weeks and 4 days and have been having severe upper back pain, rib pain and hip pain for a few weeks now. Nothing seems to make it better except laying down I am just wondering if this is normal and if there is anything wrong with this?
hi, I sure can relate...I've had the sciatica for at least 12 years..trying to remember back.. finally abt 6 yrs ago a doctor put me on a medication that was a God send..do you take meds for this? the sciatica was under control with the meds but eventually however that was only treating the symtoms and not the under lying cause, an MRI 3 yrs ago dx'd DDD with herniated disks. So my symtoms grew alot worse over the years until I had full blown neuropathy to my legs mainly the left..
She was taking a low dosage of morphine for pain, but had not taken it when she went to the dentist the next day. But still, the morphine was in her system when the dentist began his dental work. He damaged a nerve on the side of her face which caused permanent sagging because she didn't feel anything. I'd try talking to your doctor about things again.....if he doesn't seem understanding, go to someone else.
Also, many women during labor receive morphine in the hospital by injection to help with the pain from contractions until it is time for the epidural. I had about 3-4 morphine shots in the hospital during labor.
I have a bulging disc, sciatica, and there is an issue at the bottom of my spine where the nerves go through the hole (bottom left, we all have the two holes at the bottom of our spines), the hole is almost closed up. To make a long story short, I am addicted to pain killers, Percocet mostly. Today I took 2 Kadian 30 mg morphine pills, the last at 8 PM. I have four 8 mg Suboxone and am not sure when to take it.
I know my sciatica started in that area so that could be the reason for your pain.
I've been inspired by a lot of them and now it's my time. I have been on painkillers for over 2 1/2 years from morphine, morphine sulfate, norcos, fentanyl and now it's oxy's. I have a lot of back problems (several disc herniations, permanent nerve damage, athritis and sciatica) and I'm only 28 today. I decided for my birthday this year that I would put an end to this addiction. I've been through plenty of w/d's in the past as I used to be addicted to heroin.
i woke up on oct 24 2008 with severe rib epigastric pain and couldn't breathe i was hyperventilating i went to the er was given morphine and send home. i do have fibromyalgia, sciatica, costocondritis, depression, anxiety and a history of numerous surgeries i have had as a child parathyroidectomy, polyps removed from colon x 2.
