237039 tn?1264258057 I have been given Morphine in the hospitals during my heart attacks, and most recently was given Morphine quite frequently. I was told last April, the reason they were giving me Morphine at short intervals is because it "oxygenates" the heart. As long as I had the chest pains they were administering the Morphine at 30 minute intervals. I protested the frequent use, but was told it was for that reason I was being given that much.
Avatar m tn They will also give me clonidine for panic attacks, phenobarbital for anti seizures, IV fluids and zofran for nausea and I will be hooked up at all times to a heart monitor. Oh yeah and I also have multiple sclerosis. Have any of you got off your meds this way.? I'm supposed to be in the hospital about a week and then ill be on AutoZone if it works for pain. Otherwise ill have to try a morphine pain pump.
Avatar m tn m investigating Botox. Triptans are medically ruled out for me as I have heart issues. Again, thanks for your advice.
Avatar n tn My father is 91 - is having silent heart attacks. He is unable to talk now, and is twitching more all over - near the end. They gave him Adavan? to relax the muscles, along with morphine under the tongue to relax the heart walls. My question is - is the twitching due to lack of potassium or lack of oxygen?
Avatar m tn I have many medical issues that started at 16. I feel like I'm in the matrix the red pill or the blue pill. if I had known at 16 my life would consist of 37 medications in five shots a day I would've found a different path. My problem is someone stole my medicine I haven't had The morphine or the Percocet for a week and I am going through withdrawal. I have never gone through this before. My doctor cannot refill because of my insurance. But I have 12 days before I can have a refill.
Avatar f tn This can have serious and deadly consequences. The withdrawal can cause you to have seizures and heart attacks. Have you talked to both your pain management and ob/gyn about replacing your morphine with Methadone? Methadone is prescribed for moderate to severe pain but is also and opiate blocker.
Avatar f tn im 25 years old and a smoker for many years. there is no heart disease that runs in my family that im aware of. but at my age can i still have a heart attack...lately i get constant pain up and down my arms and into my shoulders then center of my chest hurts and it feels heavy but not real bad it kinda feels like heart burn. the pain in my arms will only be in one arm at a time. the past 2 days the pain in arm and chest comes and goes..
Avatar m tn I am a 48 year old white male, and I have already had a total of 5 heart attacks (all within the last 5 tears). At first my doctoer thought it was due to my low HDL, as it has been lower that 28 for the last 5 years. But after my last attack, about 3 months ago, the doctors are now thinking that my body is trying to reject the 3 stents the have pkaced in me. This last attack was pretty serious, and we are planning to have a defibri;ator implanted later this month.
Avatar f tn Gallbladder issues are common in pregnancy. I've had 6 attacks through out my pregnancy the latest was last night. I've gone to the hospital for two of the attacks and had to take morphine. It ***** but my baby is more important to me then risking surgary. I have to have it out after giving birth. Research the safe foods. I do find it weird that your doctor gave you that diagnoses based on back pain though.
Avatar n tn Other meds include Coumadin, Lipitor, Coreg, Aspirin, 7.5mg Morphine and 20mg Cymbalta (for post herpetic neuralgia) - currently tapering off the morphine. She still has a 20% ejection rate, the same as when the pacer was placed. It seems that the significant breathing difficulty started after the latest hospitalization (I’m guessing that the fluid replacement contributed.) Are there any other surgical options available, or even meds? Would the use of an oxygen tank help?
Avatar f tn I was able to shorten attacks by implementing controlled breathing exercises. Good luck with your attacks hon. You have my sympathy!
1882524 tn?1320721345 I have a question about any natural methods, or methods I can ask my dr help with, to make withdrawing from morphine 60 mg a day for chronic pain easier. I know the hell I am in for, I've been in and out of withdrawal every time my dr is late on refilling my prescription which has happened 7 times in 1 year. I go through 3 days of withdrawal and the worst pain of my life with severe migraines once the withdrawal hits.
Avatar n tn I'm 14 weeks pregnant. Second baby. Iv had alot of gallbladder attacks at least 3 a week. They can't take it out apparently so I'm stuck suffering until I have the baby. The doctors give me morphine and gravol. Has any other moms gone thru this and is everything okay with the baby?
Avatar f tn Morphine may also be used to treat pain associated with cancer, heart attacks, sickle cell disease and other medical conditions. This type of morphine is for people who need pain medicine for more than a few days. These capsules and tablets are especially designed to release morphine over a period of time. Do not share this medicine with anyone else. Federal law prohibits the transfer of morphine to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed.
Avatar n tn My younger brother has been complaining of what we thought panic attacks for almost 6 years. He’s been rushed to emerg several times, has to wait too long and the symptoms pass by the time he is seen. His chest feels constricted, SOB, flushing, sometimes it feels as if his heart stops completely for a moment. Then his heart races and beats so strongly you can see it from the outside.
Avatar m tn I have had spinal fusion on L5/S1 in 2002, then a Morphine Pump in 2004. I have been taking oral Soma, Hydrocodone, and Xanax for years. I was able to taper totally off of the Hydro and Soma (it was HELL), but the Xanax was impossible for me to discontinue. I never used what I was prescribed (3 @ 1mg day) but I couldn't quit taking it totally. I had to take 1/2 of one pill a day just to survive the panic attacks.
Avatar f tn Have heart disease in the family, my dad very early, he has since died. I have had heart palpitations for years, since mt 20's, and they know I have mitralve valve prolapse, but that is so common. It doesn't seem to concern the insurance dr. My input sheet listed my blood pressure meds, and he did say methadone would bring my blood pressure down, but didn't even talk about the fact I am on meds NOW.
1430743 tn?1302740667 Thursday night i had a much more severe attack and ended up at the ER again. They gave me morphine and sent me home with morphine orally. So here i am writing to see if im the only one in the situation. I have tried managing my food but i have always loved food and finding it very hard. I haven't eaten fried food at all. but i still get attacks. Im soooo depressed over this. My poor DH has to lose sleep along with me in the ER.
Avatar m tn I thought I just had a GB problem and in recovery I was in excruitating pain from the morphine. We all thought it was just just gas or the surgery pains. When they stopped the morphine I felt 100 times better. It was causing horrible pain in my stomach and back from the spasms it causes in the sphincter of oddi. I later found out when I was diagnosed that I can no longer have any narcotics because of this syndrome.
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
Avatar m tn I know exactly how you feel! I'm glad you found this place too, I just found it today! I have panic attacks & ended up in the ER twice within 3 days 5 years ago. Finally the ER nurse identified that I was having panic attacks & called my doc herself to get me Xanax because the medication they prescribed me the day before would take atleast 1-2 weeks to work!
Avatar f tn and the panic attacks can be managable with the right treatment.... as for the sleeping/ waking problem i know exactly what this is.... when you wake and you can see and hear but not move its called sleep paralisis. it is VERYcommon. and also is more common while taking opiods because it take the brain a minute to respond to the body and opiods can delay this process. it is also very common in to those who have panic disorder to fear death espeially after a traumatic experience.
Avatar f tn For heart attacks to be occurring, there should be evidence with a troponin level blood test to confirm this. If his troponin levels are not elevated, then the pain could be related to something else. Do you know what his EF is from an echo scan? This will basically tell you how efficiently his heart is pumping blood.
Avatar f tn I just found out my mom n sister r chewing morphine patches. I am really scared for them. Does anyone know what it does n how u act if u chew them they have been actin really diffrent lately is that why?
Avatar f tn I've never had a panic attack but from what I've read, it's quite normal for the heart rate to increase during one. The closest thing I can compare it to is driving along, almost getting hit by another car. Talk about panic. And what happens? Your heart rate increases. So that's quite normal. I have PSVT so my heart rate jumps from 65 to 195 in a heart beat and races along for awhile. Then drops back to normal again in a heart beat.
