647120 tn?1256601651 s experience been with methodone, Fentanyl patch, or morphine MS (extended release capsules) for chronic pain? I finally got to a pain manager who seems to be a good fit, and she wants me to reduce my use of Klonopin before starting me on one of these drugs. They all sound so heavy-duty I'm a little nervous about it. I tired of the roller coaster of leg on 200mg of Tramadol, 600 mg of Neurontin, 1500 mg Robaxin, and 118mg of Effexor XR (trying to get to 150mg) a day.
Avatar f tn Hi Christie, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us but sorry to hear about your mothers chronic back pain. You did not indicate if your Mom is elderly and you are caring for her or if she is independant and not a senior citizen. Also who is this nurse? Is she a friend of yours or is she routinely involved in your mother's care? In other words does he know your mother well?
647120 tn?1256601651 When I started seeing a pain manager for chronic leg pain last fall, she said it was nerve pain without doing any diagnostics. She put me on morphine, and I've had ups and downs with it. Now I am considering going back to square one by weening off of morphine and seeing what my pain level is. It is almost a year since I had L4-5 spinal fusion, and I hate the side effects, costs, and stigma that go with taking this class of drugs. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?
Avatar f tn Also, have your regular doctor write up a medical report documenting his reasons for not prescribing methadone as treatment for your chronic pain and bring this documentation to your appointment with your insurance dr. I agree it is an uphill battle but don't give up and please keep us posted.
784419 tn?1236261756 After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?
Avatar m tn if you have been on it for a long time then your body will sometimes get used to it and will need it more often. it is withdrawl symptems from the morphine. if you are in chronic pain and your meds are wearing off then you need to talk to your dr... you should keep a constant dose in your system so that you are constantly going thru withdrawls and feeling those symptoms along with your pain. it is no fun to constantly be going thru that...
Avatar f tn When the problem does not resolve despite adequate IT morphine dose adjustments, then the IT trial has to be abandoned including all prospects of permanent IT pump implantation Studies show that drug pumps (intrathecal drug delivery systems) may increase pain relief and comfort for people with severe chronic pain.1-5 Talk with your doctor about the benefits, risks, and responsibilities involved with using a drug pump for chronic pain.
Avatar f tn anyone here I have been on Oxycontin 20mgs 2 times daily plus neurontin 900mgs 3 times daily, for chronic pain due to 3 failure operations on my neck spine, herniated discs you name it I have it including the knees and legs but recently placed on durgestics tran c 75mg patch also oralmorph for breakthrough pain reading this ladyies story and your comments it seems you all have been a great help to her. Could you advise me has my doctor done the right thing for me.
Avatar n tn I am going to the Dr who implanted it, to see what my next option is after alot of research it seems i am in line for a pain pump.
Avatar n tn HI All, I am posting this pain question over here as this forum has more Sub user's. I was on the fentyl 75 mcg patch and oxy 15mg x2 a day (ya right) for breakthrough. I got caught breaking my contract in fullblown w/d's and out of med's early. The patch shortage was legit as I lost two in my bed during a heat/himid wave last month. anyways.. I am down to half a 12.5mcg patch and I am uncomfortable with losing the opiates in my body and brain. But it's not crazy bad.
Avatar n tn I continue to do a great job and produce fantastic products. My managers know about my chronic pain and are very accepting of the pain medications I take as they don't affect my job performance and they know that I am responsible with my meds. I am on 60 mg of morphine and 20-30 mg of oxycodone within percocet. I honestly think that you shouldn't bring up your pain meds at an interview unless asked.
Avatar f tn Morphine is inappropriate for chronic back pain. The pain is generally due to glial cell inflamation which does not respond to morphine. I have been on prescription morphine for level-ten pain for a severe injury and my withdrawal involved a craving and all sorts of aches and pains. Rather than feeling "high" I needed the morphine to feel "normal". There were lots of muscular aches. But it wasn't too bad. It's doable.
Avatar f tn I have been in Pain Management now for five years. Gone from Vicodin to Morphine, from Morphine to Spinal Stimulator & Vicodin. With failed stimulator (for what ever reason) back on Morphine and Morphine mg getting higher & higher. I have reciently been placed on Morphine patch. When put on the patch, will your body go through withdrawals symptoms? I dont feel ill in any way, I feel depressed and worthless...
17076549 tn?1453508475 m no expert, but I think that a prescription for tylenol-3 is a joke and an insult for someone who needs 60 mg daily of morphine to cope with the level of pain I experience without it. My Primary doctor finally said he would get me a referral to a pain management specialist. But after a few weeks without hearing anything I called his office and was told, oops, he forgot to put in the referral, but would do so now!
1029507 tn?1287714315 i just talked to my llmd nurse she told me when i come down we will talk about morphine for my pain, right now i take Oxycontin for pain she said that is just a short term help, she said that morphine works for chronic pain.
Avatar m tn The future looks bleak for those of us with chronic pain. It feels like we have lost the fight to have our real, non malignant pain treated with meds that help us face another day.
Avatar f tn Thanks, I have only had chronic pain for about two years now. Its been so hard to adjust. I do not like pain medications and often feel like a slave or zombie to my pain meds. Just like I cannot be free. Its gotten much worse in pregnancy and am often up a few times a night for a few hours laying around in agonizing pain just begging for it to subside to get rest so I can take care of my other girls. It hard to cope.
Avatar m tn My wife, who takes morphine sulfate ER and oxycodone IR for chronic pain. She does a urine test every month. For the first time in several years, 10+, her results showed a positive result for codeine, 107 ng/mL. I found an article that said a small amount of codeine may show up in patients taking high doses of morphine due to possible impurities in manufacturing. Is this correct? Has anyone else run in to this??
886779 tn?1253644204 this works really well from morphine, i was on 30mg of morphine tablets twice daily for pain relief and had also had enough..i found out my local GP was doing this rapid detox from opiate drugs in his surgery it cost around 5 k and took one day only..he injected me with a few strong drugs to help with the withdrawals then used narcane to put me into full withdrawal..after 2 hours he installed a 6 month Naltrexone Implant into my lower abdomen..this drug is an antagonist to opiate use..
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either. I was just started on Lyrica and have noticed a slight decrease in pain but I still have flares that are unbearable. I wish I could offer you suggestions but so far, I'm in the same boat as you.
Avatar n tn He is also on a internal pain pump which dispenses morphine for the original malady of chronic pain. He is really out of it. Like he has dementia. We dont know what to do. He is too weak for interferon and will probably need a liver sooner or later. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing or know what I am talking about.
Avatar f tn i have taken morphine 60mg long acting and morphine 30mg short acting for over 10 years, recently my doctor switched me to oxycotin 60mg & roxycotin 30mg bacause the morphine wasnt helping so much anymore and i am experiencing withdraws now. Why???? Does my dose need to be increased or should i ask my dr to give me 5 roxycodone a day instead of 3 times a day?
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic pain for some time and my doctor put me on oxycontin but to find out about side effects that indicate that it is an addictive anti-anxiety pill, ask my doctor switch me find out painkiller as it existed in findrxonline vicodin and Side effects were minor.
Avatar f tn The best suggestion I have for someone with long term chronic pain (such as my wife had, she was on pain meds for 10 years, accidentally died from them) is read chapter 1 of the book "The Brain's Way of Healing: Remarkable Discoveries and Recoveries from the Frontiers of Neuroplasticity" by Norman Doidge, M.D.
1448748 tn?1312956208 The surgery was the first thing I have ever had to have pain medicine for sure for. I could not do it. Now that I am home I take Oxycodone for pain and Baclofen for my muscle relaxer. The muscle relaxer is really the one that makes the difference. That is where my pain is coming from but I can only take it every 8 hours. I would discuss your options prior if you can. I would not recommend morphine but that was based on my experience and everyone is different.
