Avatar n tn Other meds include Coumadin, Lipitor, Coreg, Aspirin, 7.5mg Morphine and 20mg Cymbalta (for post herpetic neuralgia) - currently tapering off the morphine. She still has a 20% ejection rate, the same as when the pacer was placed. It seems that the significant breathing difficulty started after the latest hospitalization (I’m guessing that the fluid replacement contributed.) Are there any other surgical options available, or even meds? Would the use of an oxygen tank help?
Avatar f tn Lmbo well that gives me something to look.foward too..
Avatar f tn Thank you for info. She has refused morphine thus far. Was left for her to use for pain and breathing, but she won't use it.
Avatar f tn I'm a young teenager and I was over dosed with morphine after a surgery on my ankle. And ever since then I've had a problem with my breathing. I'll be doing something normal and I'll go to take a deep breath and a sudden pain sharply darts the middle of my back more to the upper part. This only started happening after my over dose. As well as my breathing suddenly gets shallow easily.
Avatar f tn People that have been on opiates for a long time can ingest a dose that would kill someone who has never used the drug. Then if they stop for a while, their tolerance goes down. Morphine is a terrible trip, with nausea and discomfort and constipation. Not something to desire for recreation.

Morphine is NOT the best choice for all pain. Oh yes, the CT contrast, yuk!! Yes, had to drink this myself and have given it to numerous patients; it is awful. Unfortunately, it is needed for better views of the abdomen. How are you feeling now?
Avatar f tn Oh no, sorry to hear about your dog. Is the fast breathing an new situation? It sounds like you were at the vet recently? Why do they say this is happening? What about your dog's tongue color? Is it pink or darker? A darkish color might be a sign that she isn't getting enough oxygen. But if she had gastritis, she may just take a bit of time to feel better./ Try bland food like boiled hamburger and rice. And really, what is most important is hydration. Is she drinking water?

Because Naloxone has a higher affinity for the receptors than Morphine, the Naloxone will generally win out, replacing much of the Morphine at the receptor sites. Within 1-3 minutes of a sufficient Naloxone injection (2-4 mg), a patient who has OD'd on Morphine will generally wake up, usually quite agitated.

Avatar f tn I was recently perscribed morphine for my fibromyalgia and spurs on my spine. My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.
Avatar f tn m 40 weeks and 3 days, my cervix is not opened and the doctors think because I have not been getting sleep cause of contraction pain...I want to know if getting morphine is okay for baby?? Any did effects? And will my labor start after i wake up??
Avatar f tn This has been going on for more than 5 years and other than going to the ER for a shot of morphine, noting stops the pain or prevents it from getting worse when it starts. It wakes me when I am sleeping, happens when I am on the computer, sitting watching TV, driving the car, playing bingo or almost anything that I am doing. Each time the pain hits, it feels like a ice pick stabbing me in the SAME spot each and every time.
Avatar m tn Hi Adam, Please pardon my tardy Welcome to our Pain Management Community. I'm sorry to hear about your increased medical issues since April. The literature states, "You should not take morphine if you have severe asthma or breathing problems." Indeed Morphine is known to trigger asthma in some ppl. Actually morphine can trigger an attack because of histamine release. Histamine is a potent bronchocontrictor thus has the potential to induce an asthma attack.
Avatar f tn Breathing thru contractions helped me! & I also found walking worked for me rather then laying in the bed the whole time! I guess I have a high tolerance for pain! I did not have any pain meds when I was in labor. I heard the morphine can slow the baby's heart beat down! But like all other drugs der are always risks!
Avatar n tn I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant and was in so much pain with back muscle spasms that I went to the ER the other night. Once I was there the pain progressed to my upper abdomen causing difficulty breathing and I kept puking maybe from the pain. I'm allergic to morphine so the only pain meds they gave me was a percocet which I puked up about an hour later. I have since stopped puking but I still have pain I think this baby is laying on my diaphragm. Anyone have any advice?
