Morphine and oxycodone together

Common Questions and Answers about Morphine and oxycodone together

There are several different sites (like rxlist and drugs.com) that gather all of the label info and print it together. Drugs that are labeled as potentially causing liver damage are to be completely avoided. Those that are labeled to use with caution in patients with impaired hepatic (liver) function usually refer to the fact that they won't hurt the patient but the patient will not be able to process a full dose and should be prescribed a smaller dose.
I'll keep you posted. Please do the same on your end. Someday you and I will be high 5'ing our victory together!
for example on oxycodone, I would say jump at 7.5 mgs. With Suboxone and Subutex, I have witnessed people taking ( pin head size ) doses (literally micrograms) for a few weeks before they could even think about jumping. Also with Subs the PAWS Craving can last for up to a year or more. again simply because the half life is so da*m long!!! * Hope this helps.
Oxycodone to morphine to hydromorphine to fentanyl to methadone to oxymorphone to morphine to oxycodone to hydromorphine, round and round. Oxycodone is no longer effective for me after a month or two. Talk about tolerance -- mine is amazing. Until oral fentanyl is approved for non-cancer use, I can't use that one anymore either -- I require too many patches. So, I've got a pool of four medications to use for pain, and every year or two, I change partners.
I'm still on this amount of oxycodone and nearing my 31st week of pregnancy. Of course my doc would like me to slowly ween down as i would i MORE THEN ANYTHING, but its been so hard trying, the further along i get the worst my back gets, so trying to take less of my meds is causing extreme pain. I'm so worried about my baby having withdrawals and i just cant help but to think with the amount I'm on (my dosage) that its a guarantee my baby is going to.
the 40mg OxyContin, the presciption is ready for pick-up every month at the pharmacy and I could easily have a weak moment and go and fill the scipt. I'm aware that seeking medical care is best, but given the circumstances (my career for example) I'd like to avoid this at all costs. Does anyone have any experience with oxycodone for approximately the same amount of time I've been taking it? I'm curious to know how long I can expect withdrawl symptoms.
Oxycodone (contained in percocet, roxicodone, oxycontin) is about 2 times the strength of morphine (i.e., 10 mg of morphine equals 5 mg of oxycodone). Therefore, 5 mg of oxycodone is about 16 mg of hydrocodone so oxycodone is about 3 times stronger than hydrocodone. However, geminigirl is right in that everyone is different. I have read that some say hydrocodone works better for their pain than percocet and viceversa. For me, percocet works a lot better for my pain.
My pain management doctor took me off the fentanyl patch after I had complained about feeling "loopy" all the time and breaking out from the patch, He then prescribed morphine 15mg extended release 2 times a day. Anyway, I had a gastric bypass weight loss surgery in 2008 and I remembered the Doctor saying to me that extended release medication will not be effective anymore because of the intestines being cut or shortened.
Maybe you could just stop the morphine all together and just use the percocet. Morphine is more addictive and harder to wd from. Good luck.
] --- I hurt my back again, not terribly (not a trip to the ER) but bad enough I wasn't moving at all for 4 days. A doc-in-the-box got my whole story that I had been taking oxycodone and soma and the normal stuff but hadn't taken it for about 8 weeks. He asked how my pain was and I said, "Worse". He said, "Stupid!" apparently you need to keep the pain at bay or it will cascade. Anyway...
( Me and the boyfriend have een together for 4 years now and have had a horriable last yeear in a hlf! It started out on vicoden, and perks. he started taking them because he has an extra bone in his knee and he has to go get surgey in like 2 months away still, but anywayz he started taking them to get the pain to go away in is knee and then he said he felt pretty good on them as well and he was a partyier so it made him feel better!
I continued to call in for refills as if I were taking the medication as prescribed and received the aforementioned prescriptions. As of today, I still have 60 oxycodone, and 70 of the hydrocodon. The hydrocodon make me much more nauseous than the oxycodone and make me loopy. I have to take 2 of them at a time to get the same pain relief. I still have pain around 6/7. About 4 days ago a friend of mine told me she became dependent on opiates after her surgery and i should be very careful.
Maybe after he gets better and gets his life together you can get back together. Maybe not. You are young and you have a life to live. Its time to move on and let things take there natural way of happening. Do not let him hold you back and dont stay. Get ouyt as soon as you can and dont look back. If he calls answer but once he becomes mean and threantening which he will if you leave pull away. Do not let him hurt you because its not him its the monster inside him.
With the controlled release of the med I'm taking now, things seem to be on an even keel compared to the abrupt ups and downs of the shorter acting narcotics like hydrocodone and oxycodone. As I've said time and again, all I want is a state of equilibrium in my life where everything seems to be safe and secure....and pain free! I suppose that's a lot to ask for as a human being? Somebody said above that they went fifteen years in hell before discovering a med that offered some relief.
ACTIC (FENTAYL LOLLIPOPS) AND THEN SWITCHED TO THE FENTAYL PATCHES, I SWITHCED DOCTORS AND WAS TAKEN OFF FENTAYL THEN LOST MY INSURANCE AND PUT ON METHADONE AND OXYCODONE, I AGAIN SWITCHED DOCTORS AND CURRENTLY ON OXYCADONE 30MG 8 A DAY AS WELL AS XANAX WHICH I AM BEING TAPPERED OFF OF NOW, THEN MY OB WANTS TO TAPPER THE OXYCODONE I DON'T WANT TO HURT MY BABY IN NO WAY BUT AT THE SAME TIME I'M WONDERING WHAT KIND OF SEVERE PAIN I WILL BE IN WHEN I AM OFF OF THE PAIN MEDS, BUT I DON'T WANT MY B
i have had a similar experience with morphine-----it upset my stomach and didn't affect the pain very much! Your doc sounds like she (i hope) is one of the "good" ones willing to listen and wk with you. Mine switched me to oxycodone for breakthru pain and it worked really well----not seasick all day!You might try it. This is a good forum and also the Chronic couch for info and compassion. Let's fire this thing up for a while--0----get current. Get active! Get together!
I got to where I would do a number of 20 roxycotin 30's a day(on a good day) and anywhere to 4-8 opana 40's and 20's together. I became a wreck and couldnt even take notice of have sick I had became untuil the first time I had ever experienced a partial withdrawal of opiate. Therefore I would go out and buy the name of the medicine from other patients and became broke and lost anything I owned, loved, or the good people I knew. My life has became an overbearing journey I cannot handle anymore.
I was on oxycodone for 5 years, I quit taking oxy and suboxone with no withdrawls.
A week out I am still taking both the Oxycodone and the Baclofen at the regularly scheduled times and don't see any hope of that letting up yet until things wear off a bit. Hopefully soon. Good luck and I hope things go well for you and you find the right combination. Don't be afraid to tell them if you need something more. I don't want to scare you but in my experience it was rough.
Well what i did, instead of doing something stupid like calling in my own script, I went to the ER for the first time, and told them I had really bad pain from a slip and fall. Well they gave me a shot with 5mgs of Morphine and sent me home on Percocets. I only got 15 percocets and thats all I wanted. I dont want anything more then that cuz like I said,l am going to my Sub doc on the 1st. I just didnt want to be "sick" till the 1st, so as addicts, you all know how I feel...so I went.
I was on Oxycodone 10-325 and didn't have any problems. And have been on pain management and on Oxycodone since 2011 and never had any problems on them. They have to be made with different components?
In ending, I will keep fighting for my right and all of our rights as chronic pain patients to have the freedom to have pain meds and to have the dosage we need no matter how high it may seem if it helps as live a long and productive life. Let’s stay together and fight these groups who mean to do the right thing but are going about it in the wrong way by hurting us by putting dosage limits on our quest to get pain relief.
I've cut down to 30mg of morphine a day, and I'm ready to come off all together. My pain Dr. gave me tylenol 3, and ativan to help with the detox. I also have medical marijuana, but find I can only smoke it at night, since I don't like to feel stoned during the day. What should I expect detoxing? And will the pain when I first come off be worse at first, since I've been on the drug so long.
I have actually researched the different opioid formulations and the opiates (i.e., morphine, codeine, thebaine) they are derived from. And I found that the oxycodone that is in Percocet is derived from the opiate thebaine which possesses stimulant properties, which is why it makes so many people more alert and awake than drowsy and sleepy. The dose of Percocet that you were taking is well below 4,000 mg a day and in fact is even well below the tentative new maximum dose of 2,600 mg per day.
I am really glad that I found this forum...I am currently in as state of shock over what just took place at my own pain management doctors office. I have herniated lumbar discs which have also caused nerve damage, degenerative disc disease and buldging cervical discs. I have been on morphine for about 4 years, extended release and instant release. Last month the doctor gave ALL patients a urine test and when I got there today he said "we have a problem"...
I plan on doing all of this, as well as taking my liquid morphine for the first few days, and then weaning from that to just the oxycodone, that's the plan at least hopefully it works. I am hoping though someone with more experience with getting off of these patches can offer me better, or more advice. I honestly just have no idea what to expect.
if you have any questions please reply to me i am thinking of you and feel for you and send you all my heart and spirit that you get through this painful period and come out of it happy and together. love always andrew korman. please reply anytime virginia i will always make and have time for a good person such as yourself.
I've taken the oxys and #3s together. You feel almost no pain afterwards and very euphoric. I did take them recreationally I guess you can say, or in my mind for scientific purposes as I only do things like this once for future reference. As I said nothing bothers you much, physical or mental. There is a point though where you might want to vomit your brains out for a minute but the pain does fade. Definitely don't drive on these.
I have been off the buprenorphine for 8 days but I am maintaining at 40mg of oxycodone. I do have a doctor and I'm going to quit the oxycodone in a few hours. I don't smoke or drink and I eat fairly healthy. My current pain level is very low so I want to attempt to become drug free.
