Common Questions and Answers about Morphine and heart rate

Avatar f tn I had the same thing happening the pattern and all and it was blood sugar being too high. You develop insulin resistance and the heart cannot access the energy from the blood. So your heart "rests" every few beats to compensate. Find someone with a meter and check it before eating or drinking anything that day. If its high go to the Dr and get some meds. It will clear up in a matter of hours.
Avatar n tn Other meds include Coumadin, Lipitor, Coreg, Aspirin, 7.5mg Morphine and 20mg Cymbalta (for post herpetic neuralgia) - currently tapering off the morphine. She still has a 20% ejection rate, the same as when the pacer was placed. It seems that the significant breathing difficulty started after the latest hospitalization (I’m guessing that the fluid replacement contributed.) Are there any other surgical options available, or even meds? Would the use of an oxygen tank help?
237039 tn?1264258057 The danger or risk associated with a heart attack may be the result of decreased blood pressure and a slow down in the heart rate and that could add negative factors to an already stressed heart under some circumstances. It seems it is not considered a risk for serious side effects when vitals are monitored in hospital setting.
1204155 tn?1265634192 There are a number of ways a Doctor can help lower your Heart Rate and I have heard of that one. I can also have a tendancy for a fast heart rate but much faster than yours. When mine gets to around 170 or higher, I must bare down as if I were to have a bowl movement. This will generally lower the heart rate. If not, then medical attention is required. Doctors are trained for these types of problems. Did your heart rate come down? Did your Doctor know about the neck injury?
Avatar n tn Also sorry about your experience. When you go into labor this time you should tell them about what happened last time. Just let them know whatever concerns you have and they will try making it a comfortable experience this time. Try not to worry.
911829 tn?1242849183 I know you must be really scared. I am glad you came for advice. Look up the Thomas Recipie. It might help. I will be praying for you, girl.
Avatar f tn (2) this in turm mean the alveoli surface per unit-time is decreased (because of the lowered breathing rate) and to maintain the same level of oxygen the heart-rate tends to increase (3) methadone is a systemic vasodilator, and controlled differential vasodilation is essential to maintaining homeostasis. As an example, when you go from a sitting to a standing position the vasculature in the legs contracts quickly to maintain proper oxygenation.
Avatar f tn t check my chart. My heart rate was still high and they kept me overnight in the hospital. They gave me some heart medicine lopressor and I recieved a shot in my stomach. They said it was some kind of blood thinner.I woke up the next day and a heart doctor said my heart was good and all the tests came back good. They were going to release me. Another nurse came in and was going to give me more lopressor and another shot in my stomach.I had to stop her too.
Avatar f tn If you have other health problems, like heart problems, then it could be risky to try quit cold turkey. My heart rate shot up to over 140, even though I take meds to keep my heart rate under control. Opiates suppress your heart rate as well, so when you quit taking them it will go up, and if your doc had adjusted your heart pills while you were taking the opiates, they may have to be re-adjusted.
2095551 tn?1333122531 EMTs use it as a first line treatment for heart attack patients as it quickly alleviates pain and reduces blood pressure by dilating blood vessels to alleviate pressure off the heart. I am not sure if Raynaud's causes any pain but if so, it seems like morphine would be a win-win for you.
Avatar f tn He finally woke up today when they turned off the morphine. He was breathing hard (30-36 breathes per minute) and his heart rate went up to 150-160 and at one point it went up to 202 for a second. He was also having v-tach and his oxygen was on 100%. Oxygen saturation dropped to 82-85. They put the morphine back on. And they added Versed sedation again. Feels like we're going backwards again.
Avatar f tn Well that's dumb morphine slows your heart rate down so I don't understand why they would even offer that or risk it
Avatar n tn s took too much morphine and was having pin like sensations in his arms, legs and face. He was really agitated, pin point pupils and heart rate was fast. He wanted to know if any vitiams or something could help him with taking the symptoms away faster then just time.
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
Avatar m tn She sometimes has a rapid heart rate and shortness of breath when she has to poop but this is usually occurs once a day or two. Her stools are not hard. There are times when she strains to poop but does not have a rapid heart rate and shortness of breath. Our cardiologist has prescribed propranolol, penicillin V, morphine and synflorix vaccine for her. My question is: 1. Will these drugs make her heart better and consequently cause the VSD to heal? 2.
Avatar f tn dont wait till uterus gets bigger..then its harder and gallbladder can erupt and thats toxic to u and baby!!!
Avatar m tn I think you already gave yourself your own answer........no food, caffeine, stress and a dentist appt.? Ouch!!! Keep an eye on it and my heart doc always says if you can feel your heart listen to it and if you need to make the call. Atypically we shouldn't ever feel our hearts unless we stress them thru exercise or the post you made above....you sound like a normal human to me and a lucky lucky person but......
Avatar f tn t stop your heart rate from elevating when you change positions. Regular exercise may help regulate your heart rate (in SOME people with dysautonomia) a little bit but alone it likely won't ever stop the problem. I was told that I was just deconditioned before I was first diagnosed many years ago as well.
Avatar m tn I have seen at least 8 Neuro Surgeons since and the only thing they can offer is a Pain Stimulator or Morphine Pump. I am currently on Morphine Sulphate 60 Mg (3) times a day and Fentanyl which I won't even get into that. Two weeks ago I saw the last possible Surgeon from the #2 Hospital and could only offer me same. John take all the injections you have to but surgery should be your last resort. I was told by a Neuro Surgeon that the success rate for Spinal Surgery is 60%.
611606 tn?1315517767 Patel explained to me that when I have extream pain and lack of sleep, that my heart rate should go up. He said I need to be concerned if it stays low, He also said my cholesterol has finally started coming down... It was 256 and is now 196... For me this is Great Numbers... So no Worries... I am OK today, and that is all that counts "Today" Now I have to get ready for the Debates...
1271743 tn?1320892461 If you are taking Morphine for a couple of months and the doctor changes you to Methadone, will the Methadone prevent withdrawal symptoms normally experienced from stopping the Morphine?
1882524 tn?1320721345 If my dr had told me back then what this would be like, this absolute terror feeling and heart pain, high blood pressure 153/108 and 140 pulse rate......I would have said no, lets find something else. I didn't do that over 10 years ago. I was thankful for the pain relief until it stopped working. When it stopped working and another dr upped the doseage it only made things worst. I have to survive this. I have two college age children. I love them with all my heart.
194555 tn?1264286923 He was due to have a chemo tablet on friday just gone (week after injections) But they have not given it to him as they can not get his temp stable, and find the cause of infection. During this time his heart rate is up to 160bpm, when they checked it last-night it was 60 then shot up to 160. He started injections for his heart (before he was on warfin, perhaps still same but injected into his tummy?
1472677 tn?1330175915 He is sick with a fever, stomach, high heart rate, congestion and in a lot of pain. I cannot stop him from cold turkey but I can try and help him as much as I can. I love this man and he is not alone.....
Avatar f tn and after evaluating my blood work - which actually came out fine except for a borderline cholesterol 200 and checking me and my BP (which is still high 160/100) he told me that due to having Hypertension since a long time ago - more than 15 years now , i have a somehow a big heart and being so uncontrolled is the main cause of the tachycardia and i cant exactly remember if he said its atrial or venticular tachycardia and he gave me logimax and cordarone 2 pills each everyday , he didnt tell
Avatar f tn I still feel nervous and my heart rate gets high and I take beta blockers twice or three times a day. I have not taken my 112 mcg of synthroid since last Saturday.
Avatar n tn The next work out was very light cardio and strenght training. My heart rate went up to 190 and stayed weel above my target heart rate the entire workout. Even when I was on the floor it stayed elevated! THe ekg and heart monitor showed nothing out of the ordinary. I really like to work out but it makes me feel terrible while I am trying to do it. What could be the problem? Any suggestions?
