1531001 tn?1292034237 Your heart and mind has to be open and willing to let this new love into your heart and home. Especially with a rescue dog! I still get teary over Jake...thinking back to last Christmas and some of the last pictures I took of him with some silly Christmas lights I wrapped around him..he was so mad he wouldn't even move! I found much comfort from this website in their Candlelight ceremony http://www.petloss.com/ May you find some peace.........
Avatar n tn m sure your vet did things properly, and your dog passed away from the euthanasia solution.
Avatar m tn She has lost the ability to hold her bladder and bowel movements. She can no longer get up from a laying position unless you lift her rear end and help her stand. She can no longer come up steps after going out to the bathroom so someone has to work the rear while she uses her front legs. Am struggling with what to do. She still eats (not as much as she used to), sleeps a lot and even though she is taken out to the bathroom regularly she still has a lot of accidents.
Avatar f tn I took her to the vet on Nov 11th, as the bloating was significant by then. He gave her Furosemide, Midazolam, Morphine and Acepromazine shots, put her in an oxygen cage for about 8 hours, and increased (yet again) dosages of meds. Her murmur level was 6 of 6 by then. The following day (Nov 12th) she seemed a little better, but by Nov 13th she was bloated again. I took her to the vet again, who drained the fluids from her belly and said that she should be ok for 3-5 days.
611606 tn?1315517767 Hi, sorry to hear about your beautiful Smokie. Now that he is 15 and he's lived a good life, you as his owner need to judge based on his quality of life on weather he needs to be put to sleep or not. I am subscribed to a magazine called Catage. I recently received an article called Euthanasia: When Is the Right Time? I think it's my time to share it with you..
Avatar f tn They had a last cup of coffee and everything was fine. They said goodbye to their parents and brother and all was serene. They waved — and that was that." Under a 2002 law, Belgians are allowed to end their own lives if a doctor judges an individual has made his or her wishes clear and is suffering unbearable pain. The case of the twins was unusual because the two men were not approaching the end of their natural lives nor were they terminally ill.
Avatar n tn My father died a month ago and Buddy is all I have but do not want him to suffer. It is difficult for me to make the right decision which is probably euthanasia. I welcome any and all input.
Avatar n tn But my own fear (if it were me in your position) would be getting it wrong and making things much worse. If for instance it caused vomiting while your dog was half unconscious, he would choke to death in the most awful way, and might feel it. If someone else replies -perhaps with some medical knowledge or experience -and says that they know it is safe, then that's different. But my own feeling is please do try to get him to a vet to do this.
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?

Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
Avatar f tn I'm duec euthanasia girl Jan. 8th. But January 22 is my son' s birthday. It's a great day to be born!
1751415 tn?1315069443 Hello! I wanted to thank you for the information on Morphine. I neglected to mention that it was not the hospice nurse but the nurse from the nursing home. We will mention this. I know that they use a Fentanyl (hope I'm spelling it correctly) patch and morphine by mouth. They were giving him the patch with Vicodin but I guess because his pain was increasing they switched to Morphine. We are due to have a conference this week. Again, thank you!
Avatar f tn I would be on the safe side and go get checked out. Morphine is a really strong drug especially if your pregnant.hope it all turns out good.
Avatar f tn Still have four more herniated discs from degenerate disc and also stenosis. Lots of pain but 150mg Morphine a day does the trick. Willing to give antidepressant a try......
Avatar m tn Morphine is a terrible one to quit ct....and I doubt that the Doc would want to prescribe enough Norco's to do the job...make certain the taper is long and slow....nausea and vomiting are solid w/d symptoms. Stay well hydrated unless you like your fluid I.V. - most of the MS prescribed outpatient these days is MSContin - morphine sulfate continuos release.
Avatar f tn He was very nice and helpful. He gave me morphine extended release 30mg tables and I need to take those 3x a day. I asked him about pregnancy and this medication. He said that there is always a chance of compilations. He said he has seen several patients that have gotten pregnant on this medication, some have tapered off of it and some continued to stay in this medication.
1148698 tn?1261715542 Hi..I'm new here and hoping that someone might be able to answer this question. Can Elavil be used as an effective means to releive morphine withdrawl symtoms? I'm about to go down that road and I know the agony of withdrawl from morphine and don't want to go through it again...or at least as bad as it was before. I have decreased my morphine intake from 150mg a day down to 90mg within two days.
Avatar f tn Ultrasound showed me at 5 weeks. When I was 5 weeks I had a migraine and the er dr gave me morphine even after confirming the pregnancy. Could I be having a miscarriage and could the morphine have caused it? I don't have any pain just bleeding more than spotting.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. My dog has been diagnosed with heart failure last October. It was staged 5 when it was diagnosed and his condition has been kept under control with medicines. Recently, we found out that he has kidney failure as well. A day later, pancreatitis was added to his list of medical condition. He was hospitalized for 4 days and we brought him home yesterday against the vet's advice as I could see his time his near and I do not wish for him to die in a cage. Currently, he has no energy.
Avatar m tn a combo of morphine, and any other drug the hospital gave him
Avatar n tn he has severe pain throughout his body but mainly his back and legs but the morphine seemed to heighten the symptoms and only slightly take the pain away. we were together 2 and a half years and i was his life really i.e. meant the world to him.
