Avatar n tn What I did was quit cold turkey and then went to the er, after 24 hours without a pill, and requested a clonodine tabs, Ativan, and Somas (with my condition, I needed the Somas, I get restless legs. They are non addictive, I don't know why everyone says they are.) But at least request clonodine and ativan. Those are the two most important drugs to get you off of these. Somas may also help with the pain from withdrawals, so you could suggest that.
419309 tn?1326506891 My husband started showing distress and pain yesterday evening, and we added liquid morphine to lorazepam every 4 hours. Shortly after 5am this morning he started thrashing and groaning in terrible discomfort, gasping for breath, struggling as if fighting an unseen enemy. hospice nurses recommended we double his pain and anxiety medication... ten minutes later, holding his hand, I looked into my husband's eyes and heard him take his last two breaths just before 6am today.
1808595 tn?1316363130 I was gettting 24 mg of hydro morphine and every two weeks id come down a couple mg, by the time i reached 1mg, i started going through withdrawl, as i wasnt taking what i shouldve been, i havent been getting perscriptions for morphine any more for about a year,i started buying them on the street, i know now that i have an addiction, i moved home to get away from the drugs i could easily find in the city, and now im regreting it because when i go to the hospital they give me adavan's and zoplico
Avatar f tn Your body simply converts Vicodin into morphine, chemically there's little difference in most opiates. Strength and time release is the main difference. You're not at an extremely high dose and morphine is fast acting, so it should leave the body pretty fast also. You're 2 days in, hunker down and wait it out. You'll start feeling better in a few days. Vitamins, minerals, and amino acids help a lot. Immodium is good for the stomach issues and exercise helps with the rls.
Avatar n tn Unlike opiates though, benzodiazepines(xanax, valium, ativan) HAVE to be tapered down when you're ready to stop taking them, benzodiazepine withdrawal is very dangerous. You can take the ativan safely to help with withdrawal symptoms from the morphine and your doctor will safely taper you off when you are ready to stop taking the ativan. Let me ask you this, have you lowered your dose of morphine at all over the past few weeks? xoxo- D.
Avatar f tn when he got home from work and they hydrated her, gave her anti nausea meds (which don't work and never have with cyclical vomiting syndrome), did an ultrasound and then sent her home and told her to eat. No suggestions on what to do to stop the panic attack that she was still in the throws of when they left the ER.
1683709 tn?1370713201 After being on morphine, and various other opiods, for 4 - 5 years from severe chronic back pain, I can't handle the side effects any more. My dr. doesn't think it's a good idea, and says I should try another drug. But right now, i say, enough is enough!! The last 2 nights were hell. I was up all night. Even after smoking pot, taking sleeping pills and ativan I still could not sleep. The restless leg syndrome is very real (total aggravation) it doesn't hurt it just wont let you relax.
Avatar f tn OK so I was oxycodone, and morphine for work accident, and messed up my back. Long story short I decided I wanted to be off. It was pure hell, and I should have told my doc. When seeing her, I was feeling better but no sleep. She gave me 1mg Adivan to take 3 times a day. I did, but could not sleep, so took 4 more at night and nothing maybe a cat nap. I've been on these things for 3 days, and did have a drink with my buddy who just had a baby. -How quick can one get hooked?
Avatar n tn Six weeks ago, I began to have severe panic attacks, increased depression, and heavy anxiety. My doctor had me increase to 40mg celexa and added .5mg of ativan twice daily to help with the panic and anxiety until the celexa increase kicked in. After six and1/2 weeks I haven't noticed a big difference and I was wondering if the ativan is preventing the celexa from working properly.
Avatar f tn I would just sit down and be Honest with her and tell her of your fears and concerns.. That you love her and you do not want her to waste the life she has left in a drug induced stupor.. The last few days of my mom's life she was on so much morphine she was not with us I do not hold this against her as the multiple myeloma was so painful but it never hurts for your mom to hear the concern and love.. I will say a prayer and want to say I'm so sorry you are going through this..
Avatar m tn OK,now I'm starting to worry.I'm taking 4mgs of Ativan before bed and still having these panic attacks.I can take naps during the day no problem when I get a chance, but come nighttime forget it.It's getting to the point where I don't even want to go to bed and thinking of going the other way with ice coffee and an OTC pep pill.My psychiatrist just keeps adding meds,my therapist is just guessing. This has got to stop,I'm going to crack up or worry myself to death.
Avatar f tn New medicines in the past couple of months have been the Fentanyl, 75 mcg., and morphine 30 mg. They switched the morphine out post-op to oxycodone 30 to 45 mg every three hours. (I also take Cymbalta 30 mg. 2 x/day; Clonidine .1mg (which is being given for nerve pain but was originally used, years ago, for high blood pressure.) I take Ambien, 10 mg. as needed, though I try to stick with melatonin (though these nights sleep doesn't come very easily.) and I've been taking Ativan 1 mg.
1157044 tn?1318303724 I was taking 105 mgs of morphine sulfate daily and I wear a 100 mci Fentanyal morphine patch which I change every other day. Just over 6 weeks ago I made the first step-down in the morphine by reducing my daily morphine sulfate dose by 30 mgs. Monday I reduced this dose by another 15 mgs daily. I will be continuing to reduce it until I am off the morphine all together. My neurologist and I agree that I need to get off the morphine and address my pain without it in my system.
1683709 tn?1370713201 I've cut down to 30mg of morphine a day, and I'm ready to come off all together. My pain Dr. gave me tylenol 3, and ativan to help with the detox. I also have medical marijuana, but find I can only smoke it at night, since I don't like to feel stoned during the day. What should I expect detoxing? and will the pain when I first come off be worse at first, since I've been on the drug so long.
429209 tn?1224170189 my wife hated it when I was on that she rather me just on morphine anyday.
Avatar n tn I, like you wanted to spend more time with him awake but in a very short time I realized how much he needed the morphine. I could have never bathed, fed him, talked and laughed and brought him out to look at the beautiful constellations in the autumn sky without it. I'm not sure if it shortened his life but if I thought it stole one hour I would do it all over again. It made our six short weeks more beautiful and easier to accept.
Avatar n tn the best one i can suggest to counterract the effects of morphine withdrawal is ativan which is lorazepam. if you take tomilligrams 5 times a day i believe you will be able to tolerate the pain associated with the whole withdrawal process. if you are to far addicted to tolerate a benzo withdrawal process another drug and method used here in aistralia to de tox heroin and morphine users is a thing called naltrexone.
Avatar n tn We were told that there are no receptors for Haldol in the lungs and the sugar in the morphine could clogged the system. I know it worked and really that was all I cared about. Does anyone have any supporting documentation or experience with Ativan or Haldol via inhalation? I am looking for some supporting evidence that what we did worked besides the clinical results I saw.
221182 tn?1199267267 Now in a word or twenty I am getting off of methadone cold and ativan have done it before but was a lot younger..series of serious back problems has me hooked..getting off of 80mg methadone and 2 mg ativan a day..been on for about 4-5 years this time not looking forward to it, don't have to got some still but in the interest of keeping this short have decided to..Question is do you think in about a couple weeks or so when I start having it all out my system I should try suboxone?
Avatar f tn morphine (2 reasons it helps to slow respirations down if they are working hard to breathe and it facilitatates better oxygen exchange and of course helps with pain if there are issues) lorazepam ( again not being able to breathe can cause anxiety and Ativan helps with the anixiety and restlessness) Atropine eye drops (given orally can decrease the amount of secretions being coughed up and decrease any gurgling). Other comfort meds such as something for nausea and fever are also used.

579258 tn?1250652943 While it was originally thought to be scar tissue, it changes size and is getting larger and was just diagnosed as a hernia and needs repair. Now .. the quiz is .. how to get this done without insurance! Am wearing a binder now and hoping it settles down with the binder and some Ibuprofen. If it gets extremely painful I know to go to the emergency room despite the insurance situation. Would just like to hear some POSITIVE thoughts .. about life, friends and perseverence ..

Avatar n tn I was paranoid and taking 8 mg every 3 hours and 3 mg of ativan daily. I wanted to die and spent my days sobbing and rocvking on the couch,. I went to my local ER and they did not know how to taper me off the dilaudid. I went to Lahey clini where an ER doc gave me the name of a doc who speicialized in this and within 3 days at a hospital was detoxed. This was Mid October. Now I am suffering from severe abdominal and sever back pain. I went to a pain clinic.
Avatar f tn , makes me wonder what the answer is too. I'm just off morphine-I'm doing day 4-and that's been the worst part of the night-as soon as I lay down and start relaxing, my legs start jumping. My doc says that maybe it's the nerves beginning to give messages again after the injury. I had disk repair on L4L5. (I don't think I believe his conclusion). I've read that iron deficiency causes restless legs too.
1412606 tn?1282885729 I have severe chronic pain and I met with a maternal fetal specialist/high risk OB before trying to conceive. I was on morphine, methadone and a few other nerve meds. and I also have a spinal cord stimulator.
Avatar n tn My partner takes percocets and oxycontin as well as ativan. I want to have a baby but his sex drive has decreased and I'm worried that when we finally do have sex, that his sperm may be affected by the pills.
Avatar f tn Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means that when its molecule binds to a receptor, it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine. Buprenorphine also has very high binding to the opioid receptors such that the opioid receptor antagonists (e.g.
Avatar f tn The reason people think they're bad is because people like Chris Farley and Jon Belushi mixed the downers morphine and heroin respectively, with cocaine (all injected intravenously). The cocaine wore off before either of the opiates did, which caused respiratory depression that killed both great comedians.
Avatar n tn The anxiety, the crancky and grumpyness and moodswings are all gone and I feel like I have me back. It is good to be back. I can see now exactly how awful I was when I was taking all those Vicodins - awful to my friends, awful to my family, to my coworkers. The list goes on... But I can't shake this feeling that I have switched one drug for another. I began taking subutex for both addiction and pain management.
