Avatar n tn I'm 26 years and my problem is light sensitivity. My eyes are burning when I try to watch TV, computer or when is strong sunlight. In 2004 I had a lasik surgery for medium myopia and before that I had contact lenses. Now I wear glasses for small myopia and astigmatism. I had this problem before the lasik surgery but it was rarely, after the lasik it became permanent. I've seen many doctors and the only cause they could find was dry eye.
Avatar m tn Hi I have a problem with fluorescents and the issue is the type of light with the frequency and wave length. My problem is it gives me axentiy and makes my mind and whole body stress out I also lose train of thought and I can't think under them them. I been to Irene. And that didn't help plus I didn't want to have my world in colour. I did find a pair of sunglasses that works tho but to be honest everyone just makes you feel weird in the office wearing them.
Avatar f tn I have been having this strange symptom for about 3 weeks now & it's driving me nuts! I went to the eye doctor and the GP, both who told me I checked out fine. Bloodwork was run & the whole 9 yards. I'm 22 years old, for the record & in very good shape. Basically what I'm experiencing are some issues that seem to be related to light sensitivity.
Avatar m tn after 1 month my light sensitivity is still very bad. eye color has changed from dark brown to blue around the edges of the iris. I see the change, my friends see the change in color , but my surgeon says they are the same.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with light sensitivity and dry eyes since July 2013. I went to a corneal specialists who put plugs in both eyes, upper and lower ducts, which has helped with the dry eyes to some degree. However, the light sensitivity has been an ongoing problem. The corneal specialist I saw said there was nothing else he could do for me to help with the light sensitivity.
Avatar m tn They fit you b check your vision for glasses. You should get a dialated exam. Sensitivity to light can be caused by different things. A new inset of floaters needs to be addressed. How old are u because some ppl as they get older get floaters. I have the beginning if a cataract so I'm very sensitive to light. I also have hundreds of floaters caused by a retinal detachment I had fixed in 2006. Just get flecked out. It'll put your kind at ease and if it's something they can fix it.
Avatar f tn My eyes have always been sensitive to the light, but the sensitivity seems to be increasing. This is with the heat sensitivity is really disappointing since I really do love summer. I have so much work to do in the yard but I seem to try to get it done very early in the morning or later in the evening when it is almost dark. It is getting harder and harder to be outside in bright sunlight and even certain types of indoor lights are starting to bother me.
4943237 tn?1428991095 m remembering correctly you mentioned the sudden temporary deafness as well, and now with this light sensitivity I wanted to pass along this webiste. Have you seen a vestibular specialist as well? This is a good site. People don't often realize how delicate our vestibular system is - disruptions can affect our eyes, balance and so much more fwiw - http://vestibular.
Avatar m tn I thought it might be that since florescent light is more dispersed across the light spectrum I think. As a gas and not a filiment light your eyes are trying to adjust constantly to the changing gas.
Avatar f tn It is possible that contact lenses can cause irritation to the eyes; however, the light sensitivity along with the floaters sound suspicious for inflammation inside the eye. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar n tn 5 days later my eyes became sensitive to light where I needed to sit in the dark for 4 weeks. They put me on migrane medicine, which helped, but did not stop the light sensitivity. I have been tested for epilepsy, all eye medical conditions, MRI's, MRA's. They have determined I have high blood pressure which "spikes"on occassion. I have had every blood test in the world and all comes back fine. I do have hypothryroidism (for about 15 years).
Avatar m tn The appropriate approach to experiencing light sensitivity is to undergo a thorough neurological evaluation. There are many etiologies, however light sensitivity is a hallmark for a developing stroke secondary to a slow bleed within the brain.
Avatar m tn Good afternoon. During the past 3 days i have developed certain light sensitivity. These are the symptoms i have: - After turning off the lights to go to sleep, i can still "see" light. Its like being flashed with a camera in the dark. This "light retention" last several seconds. This never happened to me before because when i used to turn off the lights to go to sleep that same flash of light only lasted 2 seconds or so.
Avatar n tn I took Montelukast (Singulair) for about one month and began having extreme nightmares and panic attacks. I stopped the montelukast immediately, and the nightmares stopped. But the panic attacks continue. I know others have had similar reactions, but I wonder if anyone has found out how to make the effects go away? I have been off the medication for over 3 months now.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your thoughts, John. I'll do some research on your suggestions and then hopefully I'll be able to try both options at the opticians. An update: I continued to wear sunglasses today and I'm convinced that the sensitivity is caused by light and not dryness as I originally thought. Maybe somebody reading this that suffers with eye sensitivity could try the same to see if it helps at all.
Avatar m tn It would move around nose causing more light sensitivity to cheek to upper lip which would cause less light sensitivity by that time then back to nose which would cause light sensitivity to get worse till it would move to upper lip again. This is what is making me think it is swelling causing this and my brain is thinking it is inflammation instead of injury.
Avatar n tn Over a period of a couple days I came to realize I am experiencing extreme light sensitivity in this eye. I have read that the Crystalens is so clear that light sensitivity is experienced by some people temporarily. I just wonder if my lazy eye is even more sensitive to the light because it didn't work well for 50+ years. As severe as the sensitivity is, I will tolerate it if I think it is only temporary.

Avatar n tn RE: Eye sensitivity to light. Thank you for your comments. The procedure done was laser iridectomy. I did not receive any post surgery care instructions. The following day I returned to my doctor, he examined my eyes and other than slight tearing my eyes were fine. I returned home and went on as usual. Watched TV, read, and cooked. Could these things have resulted in my extreme eye sensitivity now? Did I strain my eyes?
