Avatar n tn Hello, I see that you are having the problem of chronic urticaria. It is defined as urticaria that persists for longer than 6 weeks. In most of the cases of chronic urticaria, the underlying pathology is idiopathic i.e it is not linked to any cause. It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom. Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases, and cancers of the rectum, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.
Avatar m tn my doctor told me to take montelukast sodium with zyrtec. if i take these at night, will they still be as effective the next day? will i still be drowsy all day? Do you have any other ideas for me to use to combat my solar urticaria?
Avatar n tn However if you are not relieved of your symptoms then the possibility of chronic urticaria needs to be ruled out. Avatar f tn Based on limited data, structural defects have been reported in neonates exposed to montelukast in utero; however, a specific pattern and relationship to montelukast has not been established. Healthcare providers should report any prenatal exposures to the montelukast pregnancy registry at (800) 986-8999. Pregnancy Considerations Maternal use of cetirizine (Zyrtec) has not been associated with an increased risk of major malformations.
Avatar f tn Right now she has me on Allegra in the morning, Montelukast Sodium 10mg in the afternoon, and Zyrtec at night. It seems to keep the hives at bay. Not unbearable, but not at all comfortable. When they become severe I go in for a shot of steroid, of course each time this requires a semi expensive co-pay for a specialist visit. At this point, I almost feel like I'm throwing money in a pit and watching it burn.
Avatar m tn i have a right side throat pain for two weeks. i had problem in swallowing saliva, food and drinks. i went to an ENT doctor and he said (after visual exam) tonsillitis in both the side. he prescribed me cefunonyme (250mg) + potassium clavulanate(125mg), levocitrizine (10mg) + montelukast (10mg) , povidone iodine gargle for 10 days course otherwise surgery is required. i have taken medicines for 4 days and 50% improvement is noticed. i am afraid of surgery, what to do in this case?
Avatar n tn Thank you very much for taking time and effort in answering my query. It enlightens me now why montelukast should be taken in a longer term. However, another worry crops up in me and this is with regard to side effects. Considering that this chewable table is prescribed in a longer term, will this not give a negative effect to any organ of the body especially the kidney?
Avatar n tn I took Montelukast (Singulair) for about one month and began having extreme nightmares and panic attacks. I stopped the montelukast immediately, and the nightmares stopped. But the panic attacks continue. I know others have had similar reactions, but I wonder if anyone has found out how to make the effects go away? I have been off the medication for over 3 months now.
Avatar f tn Only thing that works is Montair LC (montelukast) once in 24 hours. It stops my cough, breathlessness. I am not able to stop this medication and have been taking this for almost 3 months now. I have no other symptoms. I am not able to identify my allergy trigger since I cough through out the day, always, every where, though dust, artificial smells aggravate cough. Breathlessness and tightness in chest scare me. Should I check Asthma or COPD or anything else. Pl. advise.
Avatar m tn During the day I do not wheeze and cough, just laying down at night in bed. Should I go see my doctor, or is this something due to change in weather (it has become noticably cooler in this area the past couple days), or something the medication will correct in time? Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn After a few minutes where the sweat eventually builds up the tingling sensation is gone this is because the sweat had already formed I believe. If I was in a warmer climate let say in the summer where my body temperature is warm then I never have this problem. .I also suffer from hives problems which isn’t a problem to what I have here. Does anyone have this problem as I couldn’t find this anywhere online.
Avatar m tn For absolute eosinophil count, a count of more than 500 eosinophils per microliter of blood is generally considered eosinophilia in adults. But you need to take necessary precautions. I suggest you to consult to a skin specialist/ immunologist for further steps of management. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn A complete history with proper evaluation can confirm the cause for urticaria. Treatment depends upon the cause for urticaria. Prevention of the allergen is the most important part of treatment of this condition. Best.
Avatar f tn The only thing I can think of is different climate, being in warm climates? Maybe it’s the sun, all destinations have involved being in the sun yet I have been in the sun more than 3 times in the past 4 yrs, so it can't be that. I eat the basics when it comes to food, i am a bland eater.. .i do not really ever try new foods... Reaction to linens? I really have no clue where to begin.
Avatar f tn Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of hives or urticaria. Urticaria is red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or claritin. You can also apply calamine lotion on the rash. It will help in soothing the skin. A mild corticosteroid cream like dermacort will also help.
