Avatar m tn What you describe is consistent with the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis, including elevation of serum IgE. In terms of what you are allergic to, assessment of allergen specific IgE elevation could be useful to confirm the allergens responsible for your allergic rhinitis. Your allergy condition is commonly referred to as your being Atopic.
Avatar m tn I have dealt with chronic Non-allergic Rhinitis for almost 40 years. I recently found a surprisingly reliable and effective (for me) method of significantly reducing or eliminating the symptoms. Because of the analgesics needed, this approach may not be for everyone. Also, of course, everything below is completely anecdotal as it all applies only to my very limited experience and experimentation.
Avatar f tn Hi I have suffered with Rhinitis for years, but it has got to a really bad stage, Post Nasal Drip is causing me a nightmare, coughing, but worst is the chestiness and coughing up of phlegm, I am currently on Flixonaise spray, Montelukast Soduim Tablets, Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Tablets, Alvesco Inhaler Ciclesonide and now just been prescribed a Ventolin Inhlaler. Went to my GP again last week who prescribed a course of Amoxicill 500 mg for a week, these have made me fell far worse.
Avatar n tn ve never read anything that linked seasonal symptoms to non-allergic rhinitis. So my question is, can things that would normally cause allergic-rhinitis like pollen, dust, and mold also cause non-allergic rhinitis?
Avatar f tn positive 3+ to House Dust mite Samitivej hospital diagnosed it as Allergic Rhinitis and Bangkok hospital has diagnosed it as Allergic Rhinitis. The doctor say that my septum is deviated but not that much to cause a nasal blockage and neither it has caused any obstruction in nose. They advise me that I would have to take only nasal spray such as Avamys and Nasones for a long time.

Avatar n tn Nasal obstruction and rhinitis can be simulated by allergic and non-allergic means. Environmental allergies can lead to nasal symptoms when there is exposure. Non-allergic rhinitis can be stimulated by posture, foods, medications, environmental changes, etc. Studies have shown that nasal patency can decrease with lying down and is sensed more frequently in patients already with allergic rhinitis.

Avatar n tn My allergist says my underlying problem all along has been allergic rhinitis, and she has put me on Nasonex and Astelin, besides given me instructions on 'dust-proofing' my bedroom. I'm an otherwise healthy 30 y/o male with no previous history of allergies or any serious/chronic illness. I recently also had a blood test, which was normal except for slightly elevated Lymphocytes. My question: Can allergic rhinitis present without coughing, runny/congested nose and itchy eyes?
Avatar f tn Hello, Yes definitely chronic cough can be caused by allergic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis is caused by air borne allergens. It can even be mold or dog allergens. Allergic rhinitis is a collection of symptoms, predominantly in the nose and eyes, caused by airborne particles of dust, dander, or plant pollens in people who are allergic to these substances. So the only way to get it ruled out is by allergy testing. Pls contact an allergic specialist and get skin tests like skin ***** test done.
Avatar m tn The eosinophil counts are raised, both absolute and differential. This indicates that there is an allergic activity. But it is difficult to specify the allergens with this result. An allergy specialist can help identify the allergens and may help to desensitize you. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn For the past 6 months I have suffered non allergic rhinitis. I have a weekend lower and upper esophageal sphincter confirmed by a barium swallow exam. Yesterday my nose was burning and it seemed like my stomach acid was reaching my sinuses Is there a link to Non allergic rhinitis and Largeneal Reflux Disease, If so anyone know how to manage it without taking Omeprazole?
Avatar f tn Hi thanks for the reply... Yes, I'm trying to look for an ENT Specialist at our local area. It's not plenty in here. A friend just referred one. But I'm a bit worried and reluctant checking out, my friend has allergic rhinitis but I couldn't see a lot/any of similarities of symptoms from Allergic Rhinitis or Chronic Sinusitis to my condition. The over production of mucus just concerns me alot, but itch and sneezes doesn't occur in my case.
345124 tn?1234483278 So far its working but need to go for allergy shots because these allergies have just progressed over 20+ years from just hay fever to hay fever and allergic rhinitis to hay fever and allergic rhinitis plus now dizziness. This has got to stop!
Avatar m tn There are other possible causes as the doctor mentioned. There are several types of non-allergic rhinitis to be evaluated for. They are generally treated the same way though. Another thought would be GERD. Reflux can cause the same symptoms of allergies and is frequently miss diagnosed as asthma. Be sure to discus this possibility with your doctor as well. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar m tn It is evident from your history that you could most probably be suffering from allergic rhinitis. Symptoms are usually triggered by an allergen. These allergens, when exposed to initiate immune mediated reactions which will result in the symptoms you experience. The allergic history usually runs in families. So, the problem can be tackled at three levels.
