modafinil long term effects

any advice or experiences that could help me understand would be really helpful please. My brother has started university to study architecture this year and due to the huge amount of nights he had to work, started going on modafinil. Now that the year is finished and he's not taking it however, he has become aggressive, irrational and rude. Does anyone know if this is because of the modafinil or if there's a link.

This can maybe only happen in heavy doses (above 350mg) because the drug is a weak D2 agonist and re uptake inhibitor and using at heavy doses has to many side effects and let to mention its very expensive to abuse this drug. Some experience anti depressant effects when they take there first few doses- but it goes away and never comes back. Its not labeled as a stimulant - but father a wakefulness promoting agent. And truly bad withdraw only appears with chronic high doses.

BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..

I'm recovering from an abscessed tooth. Mine developed 3 weeks ago and 2 days lator I had to have an Endodonist drain it on an emergency basis because the swelling was already moving up to my eye. I was told to get the tooth extracted because of my medical condition (Type 1 Diabetic). After I got it drained my dentist put me on 4,000mg of Amoxicillin a day becasue I had to get rid of the infection and the swelling had to continue to go down before he extracted the tooth.

My question that has been difficult to find an answer to, relates to long term effects. I have not been able to find at least an approximate length of time or dosages that can lead to eventual liver cancer in the future. I am currently 26 years old, in relatively good shape physically, do not drink or have any other vices that may exacerbate the vicodin effects on my liver, but am still concerned.
