Common Questions and Answers about Mobic narcotic

mobic

Avatar m tn errrr I can be a little self destructive. Going back on a narcotic is not an option. My doctor was impressed that I was able to just stop cold turkey when he wanted me to wean. A few days ago, I decided I was in too much physical pain and started researching non-narcotic pain killers. My pain doctor prescribed Lyrica about a year ago, but I wanted to stick to my Hydro/Tram/Benzo cocktail at that time.
513154 tn?1340225289 Tramadol is not classified as a narcotic, however, it is as close to narcotic as any other narcotic, so if you are looking for a non-habit forming drug or something with less side effect from a narcotic, Ultram/tramadol may not be the route to take. NSAID have been shown to be effective with osteoarthritis.
Avatar m tn Yes you can take Mobic with a narcotic pain med. Mobic is a NSAID, and has the same risks as other NSAIDS. In high doses it can cause some kidney issues, the vicodin has tylenol in it and can cause some liver issues in high doses. But they are safe to take together. Typically what you want to watch for is multiple NSAIDS, or Multiple meds with tylenol.
1699107 tn?1307306696 Ask for something besides a narcotic. (and NO to tramadol!) There are other things that they can try! You don't want to get back on that junk, do you?
498385 tn?1362449404 Does anybody know of a non narcotic pain killer that can help me with my back problems.??There is one I take and I forget the name but it leaves me with a sick tummy.....I have degenerative disc disease and scoliosis, etc and some days I feel like screaming! I don't want to awaken the monster of my addiction again !!! EVER Thanks.
Avatar f tn I dont necessarily need those kinds of meds, i just need something that works better. Is there a non narcotic that people have seen to work better than neurontin. Im actually off narcotics since January and actually would like it to stay that way because im finally clear headed and withdrawls are gone completely. Im happy to be off and narcotic free but the pain is so intense that i figured that there was no where else to turn other than Percocet again.
518798 tn?1295212279 i actually had to be on mobic for a while. its generic name is meloxicam..its a nonsteriodal anti inflammitory. i am no longer taking it, but its good and works well.
Avatar n tn Thanks for responding. I have been put on Mobic for a knee problem, which has now resolved. I hoping that my pain Dr. will agree to let me stop the narcotic pain meds and try to use the Mobic and epidurals. I really don't know what is worse-the steroids in the epidurals or staying on Percocet. It would be OK if I really felt it was helping, but I don't. I had a sciatica flare up about 3 months ago, and had to go on Oxycontin 20mg for a few weeks.
Avatar m tn When there is nothing else someone can take, narcotics is better than living in severe pain for some people. Some people are allergic, or it does nothing for them so they turn to narcotics. I think the warm shower in the morning and stretches are very good! I've heard around that certain foods can aggravate fibro. caffeine, gluton, fake sugars, msg. I don't know of any other non narcotic meds, but if you don't want to take narcotics, I would look into more natural healing.
Avatar f tn Nope never heard of using mobic for wd However it might help with the aches and pains .
Avatar n tn I was in the same boat as you. Tramadol IS a narcotic, and you can get addicted to it. I had to change doctors and my new doctor told me that tramadol is a narcotic, is very addictive, and does not help pain much and has too many side effects, including seizures. In May of 2008, Sweden moved it onto their controlled substances list as a narcotic. It stimulates the same MU receptors as narcotics do. I would dump it and try something else. Half a tablet won't do much for you...
Avatar m tn My doctor wrote me a script for Mobic to help with some nerve pain. Im wondering if anyone knows if its similar to tramadol at all, Im hoping not, but anyone who has any helpful info please let me know. I cant start back on opiates again for the pain and Ive heard too many bad stories about tramadol to even consider it as an alternative. Also if anyone knows of anything that helps nerve pain, Im open for any suggestions. Hope everyone is well, thanks.
Avatar f tn Have you tried antiinflammatories for regular pain and toradol for bad pain? Many of the medication they prescribe for fibromyalgia is non narcotic , but I can't recall the names off hand. I know many are on nuerotin for pain, but not sure it thats addicting. I know I was not much help, but wanted to tap in to say CONGRATS on all those clean years. Hope you get some long term relief.
Avatar n tn My provider told me I have a little of Osteo arthritis and has prescribed me Mobic for the pain. Now, since like a month ago, I have been feeling like big pulses on my legs, buttock, arms, neck, face, back and stomack at times. It does not last too long but, i do have then through out the whole day. It is somewhat worrying me. Does anyone know why this is happening or what lab test can I get done?
Avatar f tn Hi all, Hope everyone had a Merry Chrismas? I would like to post a question...I am going to my MD today due to my severe knee and feet pain...I want to discus taking either Cymbalta or Lyrica for the horrible pain I've been in which was ONE of the reasons I took pain meds and became and addict from... Now Im waling much more frequently and maintaining my Yoga but the pain has increased causing me to loose ALLOT of sleep which makes me very irritable....
Avatar f tn Today a Doctor gave me a script for Mobic, for wrist pain that I have had for the past month from repative work,my Urate levels are at 52 just over limit.Im on Asprin and fluid tablets which can raise these levels. A specialist doctor I saw says it is gout I don't believe it is...I'm unsure about taking the Mobic though for my wrist ??
1311475 tn?1274198780 I should not be in withdrawal since I have tapered myself down to the 60 mg and have been at that dose for quite some time. I was given an NSAID called Mobic to reduce the pain from withdrawal symptoms but have other side effects from that, like withdrawal symptoms when I take it, I for one did not see any of these symptoms that I'm having as a side effect on the drugs information pamphlet or research that I've done on the medication.
467797 tn?1216211257 Both the xray and MRI showed no inflammation in my lower spine but yet I am in constant pain. I am unable to take anti-inflammatories and narcotic pain relievers because I have Ulcerative Colitis. If the MRI showed that I have no inflammation does that mean that it ISN'T sacroiliitis then?
Avatar n tn I would say the anti-inflammatory effect that you used to have, it gone. I would guess, and not being sure, that a narcotic would work less effectively than another anti-inflammatory type since that would be the issue. I would suggest talking to a pharmacist about an OTC anti-inflammatory to see what you can do - as well as search for anti-inflammatory foods etc to see if any of that helps?
1935252 tn?1329757119 Thanks for your post -- I'm 12 days clean and facing knee surgery and I had the same question -- I went to the orthopedic just today and turned down Vic for a non narcotic -- Mobic, in any event I'm waiting for my MRI and results but I'm facing the same fear as you. In any event If I am given the pills I have a trusted person in waiting (my wife) to administer them when or if needed but I will try to avoid it all together if possible.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Sure, we can add Mobic/Meloxicam to the Pain Tracker for you. In the meantime, please use NSAIDs, since meloxicam is a type of NSAID and this is already available on the tracker.
Avatar f tn Hi... I was diagnosed with ostearthritis & fibromyalgia a few years ago...and have been taking mobic since then, which has worked. About a month ago, the mobic didn't seem to be working as well.. my hands were hurting a lot at work... so I went back to my dr & he changed my medicine to relafen for the osteoarthritis & lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Although the lyrica seems to work, I'm not liking the side effects, puffy hands & feet & eye twitching...
Avatar m tn m on day 25 norco free and working with my pain management doctor on non narcotic relief. I thought this maybe a good choice but the insurance company disagreed. Any opinions on arthritis relief options. I have liver issues and I'm tested every 6 months. I also have stenosis, 2 bulging discs and one that has been detached. I do commercial refrigeration and the arthritis is in my back, knees and hands.
975514 tn?1324997938 I am curious to know for those of you who have only been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (no other coexisting diseases such as Lupus or Lyme disease), do you get pain relief from any NSAID medications like ibuprofen, Aleve, or any other prescription NSAIDs like Mobic or Voltaren?
Avatar f tn I was just prescribed mobic and I just wondered if it's afdictive
Avatar n tn I have had 18 pt visits (traction now up to 32 lbs.. does provide relief temporary,(24hr) also take mobic.. recently prescribed a home traction unit.. confused as if this is right treatment..
493368 tn?1209757681 Mobic 15mgs has worked very well for my severe ankle tibial tendonitis and moderate arthritis coupled with physical therapy which helped restore my range of motion which was 60% lost at the time of therapy. However, the tendonitis can not be helped any furthe (I wear orthotics _ high top sneakrs and a splint brace to sleep at night) The mobic helps the arthritis alot for me & I've been on it 1.5yrs with normal blood labs.
