Hi there! I was just prescribed meloxicam 15mg for arthritis along with prilosec for acid reflux. I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? If so, how long does it take? Thanks very much!
My doctor said it's Costochondritis and gave me Meloxicam 15mg and said to take one with dinner each day. Does anyone have any experience with Costochondritis and/or Meloxicam?
I have switched to Mobic (brand name for Meloxicam) NSAID. 15mg pill. Took first one last night. So far ok with Synthroid that I took an hour ago. Only thing is that not much pain relief ??? but I wonder if it "builds up" in my system .... I am hoping that it is going to work as taking it once a day is nice vs. 3X for the other one with side effects of dizziness/tired with the Synthroid. Being time-released is nice even dosing 24hrs long.
50 mg and yea motrin 800 doesn't work for me either and is rough on my stomach but mobic(that's the non generic name for meloxicam) is only 15mg and doesn't bother my stomach.
I was given a cortisone injection and I've felt about 80% decreased pain since, and haven't needed any pain killers at all. Mobic (Meloxicam) has worked much better than IBUprofen, and I only need to take 15mg once per day, and so far have yet to feel any side effects after 3 months! Anyhow, I find that when I wake up in the morning, my hip (the actual ball joint, not S.I.) feels..."off"... I don't know how to explain it, not painful, just not right.
Then I weaned off them, and all the symptoms returned. I am now back on, but only at 15mg strength. I have the worst headache in the world today, have taken seven Tylenol in 10 hours, three Ibuprofren and I just want to bang my head against a brick wall. How long does this last? What do I do next???? Is this related to stress, exhaustion, chronic fatigue? I definitely don't have mono, I was tested for that.
I currently take 40mg of Oxycontin 4 times a day and 15mg of oxycodone (up to 4 times) as needed per day for breakthrough and he asks me during every visit how I am handling things etc....so we have built our trust and I have never not been able to fill a request, have a test done, do a drug screen in those 8 years so we have a mutual trust and he is in tune with me. So if your relationship is one of straightforwardness you should have no problems...
