There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
I tried Abilify with my antidepressant. After a few months on Abilify, my anxiety was actually worse. I noticed that the Abilify caused me to be agitated and restless (like I couldn't get confortable or sit still, kind of jittery)
Abilify is really ment more to aid in the treatment of depression than it is anxiety. It's designed to be used as an antidepressant add on drug to give a bit more antidepressant punch rather than an anti-anxiety punch.
Bad idea I think.
After trying different meds, the combo that seemed to work best is 2 mg Abilify w/200 mg. Zoloft, in the morning, with 1 mg. xanax up to 4 times a day as needed. After about 10 months, he is groggy, has short term memory loss, sleeps a lot, and seems to be "out of it" a lot. Is it the Xanax? I am worried sick.
I have been on Zoloft 150mg for about a week and feel more agitated, nervous, anxiety and still depressed so my psychiatrist just added Abilify (5mg) and Remeron along with a thyroid RX to my Zoloft 150mg. I feel this is way too much as I was hoping to change to a different SSRI instead but he didn't feel that would help. I've been taking Ativan .
s a day, 80 mg of celexa, 150 mg of welbutrin sr, 30 mg of abilify, and 1 mg of requip. I would like to be able to go out with my friends and be able to have a few drinks for my birthday but I'm scared of the interaction with all this medication and alcohol. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with PTSD and I was put on xanax 1mg to take 2 1/2 a day. I was experiencing mainly what my psychiatrist called mania where I would be ridiculously irritable and nervous/shaky. While the xanax took care of most of this, at times I still experience a very bad mood and have anger problems, where I fly off the handle at things that wouldn't bother most people to that extreme.
I tried to stop taking zoloft and abilify about three months ago. I tapered off the zoloft and stopped the abilify cold turkey, per doctor's advice. I had mild side effects for the first month and then totally crashed. Needless to say, I called my doctor in desperation and was represcribed both medications. I feel much better, but am still very serious about stopping the medications sooner than later.
to tell you the truth, i don't know what i am. i've been treated for bi-polar, aadd anxiety depression ocd. i've been able to keep all the above under control except the depression, which again i never thought i had till now.
i have been on a lot of different anti depressants. my dr looks for those that help with anxiety. maybe i should try on for just depression. do any of ya'll know one might be?
i have trouble tolerating most all meds. even over the counter.
Once she felt better, she got back on the Adderoll/Zoloft rollercoaster and off the Abilify and Serouquel. She is also bulemic and purges after every meal. She's been to the hospital 3x for extremely low potassium (sweats, palpitations, nasea and diziness). My question is how the Adderol and Zoloft interact with the Bipoar I condition and the bulemia. i have depression and it comes out with crying spells.....i am trying to lower my zoloft because it is was affecting my sex life with my new boyfriend.....
do you have a doctor to talk with? do you have a psychiatrist that knows you well? or the regular doctor that knows you well?
i think if you really are having a hard time functioning then you should at least talk to your doctor.
So my psych put me on Zoloft. The Zoloft made me really tired again all the time. So I stopped taking it. The Wellbutrin has lost it's effect to keep me awake and I'm crashing at 1pm. The Wellbutrin has mostly taken away my feelings of wanting to cry over nothing but I still have rough days. Someone will say something to me and if I was completely happy before and it upset me even a little I will be in a horrible depression for the rest of the day.
My step-daughter is on Strattera, Intuniv, and Zoloft. I have heard many things and was wondering if it was normal for her to be on all three?
Abilify can be used to augment antidepressants such as Lexapro.
I use Lamictal to augment my Pristiq and it works much better than just the Antidepressant alone.
Combining SSRI's or SNRI's with mood stabilizing drugs such as Abilify or Lamictal can often help a lot. Although they do take a good few weeks to kick in.
In the past I have taken just about every drug you mentioned above, but I am supprised that your doctor has never tried you on an SNRI such as Effexor XR or Pristiq.
