808898 tn?1241544940 My understanding is, if it is one of those random abnormalities, then no amount of medicine or treatment will stop the miscarriage. Perhaps that was the case with you. Not that it makes you feel any better. But maybe knowing that it was inevitable will help you move on and continue with your plans. Will they test the tissue to find out if it was an abnormality??
Avatar f tn Hello, Progesterone is very important for implantation to take place and its deficiency can cause difficulty in conception. Even if implantation occurs low progesterone levels can lead to miscarriage. It is best to treat this condition as soon as possible. The common treatment options are progesterone creams, gels, vaginal suppositories or shots. It is best to visit a gynecologist and discuss the treatment options. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar n tn There is a condition called luteal phase defect (low progesterone) which has long been suspected to be associated with recurrent miscarriages. Treatment is progesterone medication. The problem is, there is no proof that luteal phase defect exists, or that adding progesterone helps. At any rate, after six miscarriages, if all testing has come back normal, it probably cannot hurt to use progesterone, regardless of any blood progesterone level. Good luck!
Avatar f tn m 34 weeks now with a healthy baby girl. But the progesterone does not prevent a miscarriage if the pregnancy is non viable. Most women only need pprogesterone support until 12 weeks. There isnt anything you can do to prevent a miscarriage if it happens it happens I wish I could tell you different but I've been there. If you would like to somehow add me as a friend or message me I would be happy to answer questions based on my experience.

Avatar f tn I had 3 consecutive miscarriages in the last year and a half. The pattern was the same in all three case, lower progesterone levels. After the first miscarriage , I was asked to take baby aspirin and prometrium with the subsequent pregnancy. I anyway miscarried. I was referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. He checked for genetic disorders in both me and my husband. He did the clomid challenge test , checked for abnormalities in the uterine wall , checked thyroid level , blood sugar.
Avatar f tn in my opinion, if you had low progesterone then once you are pregnant you should take the progesterone supplement and that should be it. nothing else before or during the pregnancy. i recently miscarried myself and i am so sorry for your losses.
Avatar f tn I usually get tired from it and a little sore but I never been nauseated from it. But everyone is different I guess?
Avatar f tn Good morning, I'm 41 years old and I'm 5weeks and 5 days today. My last LMP was 10/6/13.. I had to miscarriage back to back one in 2012 and another Jan Yesterday had a doctor's appointment to verify pregnancy and my doctor put me on Progesterone 100mg by mouth once in the morning and once at night. However I have read some women prefer to place the oral medications in their vagina is this safe and is this better to take like this OVER mouth?
Avatar m tn HI, Elevated progesterone levels help in maintenance of the early pregnancy and also reduce the chances of a miscarriage. You may continue the treatment and monitoring in consultation with your Doctor. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn after all this the doctor did an ensamination which i came out pregnant -but with really low hcg. and low progesterone. which the doctor gave me vagina progesterone and didnt help, becasue i had a miscarriage at the second day of finding out i was pregnant. after the last try last year on june. i gave up. with no luck of becoming pregnant by myself. know i went to a different doctor and he put me on clomid citrate, estrogen, and prochieve 8%. what are my chances of becoming pregnant this time.
20922415 tn?1661860103 Furthermore, low progesterone levels increase the risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy. Experts, therefore, recommend that in these cases progesterone should be given to support the pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I had to miscarriages due to low progesterone. I took progesterone pills with my second child, and with this pregnancy. I am 35 weeks. I hope this gives you a little bit hope.
Avatar f tn As your doctors may have told you, there have not been any studies done showing that prometrium (progesterone supplements) PREVENT a miscarriage. But, it did make me feel more secure for those 3 weeks. I did have low-normal progesterone levels during the first 9w6d of pregnancy, and I obviously didn't miscarry. My doctors just wanted to use it to make sure that they stayed within the norm during that period when the placenta begins to take over. But, your levels sound very normal...

358971 tn?1330888975 with some people their periods come while taking progesterone.. even though i naturally have low progesterone AF stays away until 3 days after stopping the progesterone each time.. so it just depends how your body reacts to it! I have heard the answer brand HPT's are ok, but never heard much about the OPKs.,.... i think i used clear blue or someting like that.. but only 7 came to the box, it took me two boxes the first cycle to figure out with O happens, which can get expensive!
Avatar n tn I was given progesterone after my first miscarriage. My OB told me that in "older" moms to be, low progesterone can be a large factor in miscarriage, particularly in a case like mine where there were no issues with the tissue. I have been taking it as soon as I receive a positive, but this month will be starting it just after ovulation. Not all OB's and RE's believe it works, but it certainly can't hurt anything. You can ask your Dr.
