Miscarriage rates maternal age

Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage rates maternal age

miscarriage

Avatar n tn 1% live born rate in 45 year olds with IVF, and 3/4 of all positive beta-HCGs end in miscarriage. There were no pregnancies beyond age 45. Two other studies, one from the UK and one from Israel, showed even more discouraging results - 0% pregnancy rates in women aged 44 and older. Even if you are fortunate enough to get pregnant at age 46, 75%-80% of the time the pregnancy ends in miscarriage.
Avatar n tn If the maternal age is advanced following are taken to be pointers towards chromosomal abnormality like Down's which is trisomy 21-- Sonographic markers include thickness of the nuchal fold, cardiac abnormalities, duodenal atresia, shortened femur, shortened humerus, renal pyelectasis, absence of the nasal bone , a hyperechogenic bowel, and a choroid plexus cyst. None of these markers are specific, and false-positive rates have been reported.
Avatar f tn Scheduled my 20 wk u/s today(yah) on my sheet the nurse printed advanced maternal age for pregnancy!!! Made me feel very old!! Gosh Im only 37!! Very healthy, thank goodness!! Heart rate today was around 154, Im 16 wks. I feel boy? Whats some of ur ladies babies heart rates?
Avatar f tn My midwife told me they just changed the advanced maternal age to 40. Just in the last 2 months. Not sure your age. Anyway, I am 37 and will not be getting the test because I have no history of downs in my family and the worry would drive me crazy.
Avatar f tn Many of the recent studies have focused on paternal age (separate from or in addition to maternal age). I am in that unfortunate boat in that I am trying for a baby with a wonderful, older man. I am 29 and he is 48. We had a miscarriage back in August- I had thought I was 10.5 weeks along and the baby stopped developing at 6.5 weeks. I never had any cramping or bleeding, no idea that this had happened. Now I’m pregnant again- 5.5 weeks.
Avatar f tn All kinds of numbers and miscarriage rates are running around out there after a heart beat is seen, I have seen from 5 to 10% quoted. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and things are going great. Hope this helps, not sure there is an answer.
148588 tn?1465778809 A study by the Roosevelt Institute shows that U.S. states with high poverty rates have maternal death rates 77 percent higher than states with lower levels of poverty. Women with no health insurance are four times more likely to die during pregnancy or in childbirth than women who are insured. What do we do about this? Yes, of course, poor women (and the men who made them pregnant) have to take more personal responsibility for their behavior.
Avatar n tn My Donor was 27 years old. I was wondering about the miscarriage rate for that age and whether there is a difference in rates between Donor Egg and regular IVF? Also, does the rate chnge depending on how far along you are in the pregnancy? Thank you!
416285 tn?1207171916 Thanks. I think I had the triple screen. I'm trying not to panic until the doctor calls. I'll keep you posted.
Avatar n tn And last, is there any reason your daughter is choosing to have an amnio other than her advanced maternal age (risk of DS, etc) and to find out the age of her fetus?
Avatar f tn Hello, it's nice you are so concerned about your mom. I hope everything turns out okay. Please know that early pregnancy is a difficult time to judge many things. It is not uncommon to misjudge what is seen early on so would not lose hope just yet. The next appointment in two weeks will be more telling. She actually 'could' be 5 weeks, no?
Avatar f tn BTW, cramping and stomach issues are not unusual for pregnancy and do not indicate impending miscarriage unless severe or accompanied by other issues such as bleeding. Perhaps all is okay. But with the rate of issues with maternal age, I would not wait to call your doctor. good luck and I'd love to stay in touch and know how this turns out for you!
Avatar n tn t know your age but that would be informative as you are asking about confounding issues. The two confounders are that with increasing age miscarriage rates increase (most commonly due to an increase in chromosomal abnormalities secondary to aging oocytes), and with increasing age the menstrual cycle can begin to vary in length by 7 days or more.
Avatar f tn In the morning I'm scheduled for a CVS because I'm of advanced maternal age. Has anyone had this done before? What should I expect?
Avatar n tn I know I might be a high risk mum at this age. I hv a pretty healthy and adorable daughter aged 3 now. I was advised by gynae to take amniocentesis test at week16th. It does frighten me. What are the chances of getting a bb with down syndrome?
Avatar f tn I'm high risk due to my advance maternal age, I'm 36, And with my first baby I had an accreta, velamentous cord, and an early necrotic calcified grade 3 placenta
218177 tn?1240140219 I'm 45 and writing this in tears. Pregnancy test, negitive. Don't understand everything went great. Transfered 3 healthy eggs, 1 a grade 1 the others grade 2. ICSI done on all three. Should i have had assisted hatching done because of my age? I've heard that improves success rates if your over 40. True? Going in on 6/22 to discuss next try. What can improve my sucess rate? HELP!!
605914 tn?1243622344 Your HCG levels sound perfect. It doesn't matter what the number is but what matters is that they double every 48-72 hours. Your HCG levels were increased times 5! That is WONDERFUL! Congrats on your pregnancy! Sounds like this little one just might make it!!! It's very normal to worry about miscarrying. I've had a miscarriage. After my miscarriage I became pregnant with my youngest daughter (she's 17 months old).
Avatar f tn The textbook answer would be "yes," but really, you are right on the "border" and don't let it freak you out too much. I was 38 when I originally got pregnant (39 now) and was overwhelmed by all the negative stuff I was reading. It almost gave me panic attacks. I wish I had not done that. It also didn't help that all of my u/sounds were labeled "pregnancy type: difficult" even though I have no medical issues at all.
