All kinds of numbers and miscarriage rates are running around out there after a heart beat is seen, I have seen from 5 to 10% quoted. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and things are going great. Hope this helps, not sure there is an answer.

My second IUI on clomid, with trigger I got pregnant, but had an early miscarriage. I had pregnancy symptoms from about 1 week after IUI. My third IUI on femara, with trigger, I got pregnant. I am now 6 weeks pregnant and it looks like it's sticking so far. I have had no pregnancy symptoms with this one except for slightly sensitive boobs. Hope this help.

They are planning to give me the shot the same time as the IUI. Is that OK, as most discussion boards seem to suggest IUI 24-36 hours after the hcg shot? Also what are the success rates? All info greatly appreciated.

Im 35 trying to have a baby. On my first IUI I became pregnant, had low progesterone used suppositories, but still miscarried. This was in May and I waited to try again, beginning in July my cycle came with horrible pain, so bad I went to the hospital. they ruled it as unexplainable pain even after a cat scan. In August I decided to try IUI again, on my first visit my doctor saw the endo on an ultrasound.

15-20% per cycle for IUI, 50-60% for IVF.

My dr told me that success rates are around 8% with injectibles (like Follistim) and iui. I would think Clomid would have about the same success rate. If you notice, clinics publish their ivf success rates, but not their iui success rates... That said, I do know someone who got pregnant with iuis twice (on the second try each time). She was on pretty high doses of injectibles (225 follistim). I would ask your dr about his or her success rates. Good luck!

Hi, I have PCOS and was taking Metformin for it. We did 3 cyles of IUI with Clomid. Got pregnant on the 3rd one but unfortunately had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. They did not find a heartbeat on our little angel. My doctor gave me 6 months to rest before going back on fertility treatment but 5 months after that, we conceived naturally. I'm now 19 weeks 2 days pregnant with a baby boy.

I don't understand why you wouldn't be a candidate for IVF if the dr thinks IUI would work. IVF success rates are higher than IUI. Did they give you a reason?

I was on Clomid but asked my RE about Letrozole because I have a friend who got pregnant twice on second round of IUI with Letrozole. RE said it was merely doctor preference. My RE has higher success rates with clomid so that's what he prescribes, but his partner in the same clinic uses Letrozole almost exclusively. I'm sure that wasn't very helpful... but thought I'd share.

Even if you are fortunate enough to get pregnant at age 46, 75%-80% of the time the pregnancy ends in miscarriage. It is likely that, even though you saw a heart beat with your miscarriage, that the pregnancy was genetically abnormal - probably a trisomy. Thus, I would not recommend IVF. IUI is, I believe, equally futile - just cheaper. Sorry to be so pessimistic - I would not recommend IVF with your own eggs or IUI. By far your best bets for a family are adoption or donor egg.

m going to be having my first IUI on Oct.08. I just wanted to know what were the success rates of conceiving on the first time of IUI.

I went in same day and did the iui they told me to come in the next day for another iui. After 2nd iui on Monday 4/30 doctor saw that I had ovulated and made my appointment for 2 weeks 5/14 day after mothers day :-) I am now feeling crampiing and bloated and my boobs are sore. Does anyone know if having double iui increases my chance of getting pregnant? Does having a miscarriage affect the second iui?

Unfortunately, miscarriages do happen to approx one out of five pregnancies, whether or not they occur naturally or as a result of IVF or other fertility treatment. Thus, chances of a second miscarriage are in the 20% range. If you have good quality frozen embryos, you might want to consider that route, or another fresh cycle. I am very optimistic that your chances for a healthy pregnancy are good, based on your age and your response during your IVF cycle in the past. Good luck!

Hi, I was just reading a book on "How to Get Pregnant" by Dr.Sherman Silber. Here's a quote that I thought might provide some info and help you. "But in truth, pregnancy rates with this procedure (IUI) are not great unless accompanied by ovarian stimulation with FSH hormones. Even then the rate is only about 12 percent per cycle.

I am planning to do the IUI Baby, how safe this baby, comparing with normal baby growth.

It took only 3 months with our 3 year old and then 3 months with the miscarriage I had almost 2 years ago. We have done 2 rounds of AI with Chlomid. My OB found my LH level to be twice as high as my FH level nad put me on Metafornin. I have been on that for 3 months, but my RE thinks that I don't need to be on that and I am not overweight. My hubby has a somewhat low sperm count 16-18mil instead of the 20mil they like to see. We're not sure what our next step should be. My Rep.

I think it might help increase sperm count. For the 2nd IUI, i had him take fertiliaid and he had over 100 million as opposed to the first IUI where he had 52 million. good luck and hang in there!
