Miscarriage or spontaneous abortion

Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage or spontaneous abortion

miscarriage

I'm guessing you had what was called a "spontaneous abortion" (the more common word is "miscarriage") where your body aborted your baby.? This happens when there are abnormalities of the embryo, and these usually can not be prevented. More than likely sex did not cause your miscarriage. Did you already have the doctor confirm your pregnancy, or did you just take a HPT?
Well the term "abortion" is originally used to term "miscarriage". The word abortion has been twisted and turned into the ugly thing we now know. I don't have a problem with the word, I have a problem with the actions! If you have a m/c, the doctor actually writes "Spontaneous Abortion" on your file, which is the technical term for a loss before 20 weeks. It is considered "Stillborn" if it happens after 20 weeks. GA, you're exactly right!
most failed pregnancy spontaneously abort in 2 weeks. That said, there is a small risk of incomplete abortion. 2) Misoprostol induction: this is medication (tablets) usually placed vaginal that causes uterine contractions and thus induces an abortion. Again, there is small risk of incomplete abortion (i.e., retained tissue) 3) Dilation and evacuation: this is a minor surgical procedure to empty the uterus of the pregnancy tissue.
i am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant. i spontaneously bled for a matter of seconds. leaving a brownish mark on my underwear. i went to the dr and they did two u/s saying their is a embryo sac but it is too small...and cannot detect a baby...they e.r diagnoised em as "thretened abortion" what does that mean??? could i be misscarrying...or is there something wrong???
abortion is a horrible word and most health care people or insurance people will phrase it differently. I work in the medical field and we do call them abortions. Either missed or spontaneous. Well, those are the natural ones. I still hate the word, especially with 3 under my belt. :( Sorry for your loss, I did not take the pill but wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss and know that you are strong and will be ready again soon.
By maintaining the womb lining, dydrogesterone is also useful in helping prevent miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) in women who have suffered repeated miscarriages or who may miscarry. Dydrogesterone is usually taken on selected days during the menstrual cycle, depending upon the disorder that is being treated. What is it used for?
Clysta- medical term for miscarriage is abortion. Most people in Europe and other countries use the word abortion to mean miscarriage. Original poster- it can take 6-12 months to conceive. Because you were sick with a serious virus and have been on antibiotics your body most likely needs to recuperate. It has been long enough that your body may be getting back on track and conception could take place soon.
He's talking about a miscarriage. They are also called "abortions" because your bosy aborts the pregnancy because something is wrong. I am sorry for you. I wish your dr could have explained it better to you. Any other questions just ask. Hope that helps a little.
hit the fan because not only did we think she had an abortion but wanted to be pregnant again. then was it greenpixie? who thought perhaps the poster meant miscarrage, spontaneous abortion and apparently that was the case..a miscarriage. i am surprised greenpixie caught that because the post could not have been more clearly stated.."i got an abortion on.." so how else were we supposed to take it?
FYI the Term Abortion is considered an expelling of the products of conception.. a miscarriage is called a spontaneous abortion.. a D&C is a procedure for a missed abortion. anyway.. The discharge after a D&C is normal for up to 2-3 weeks. I had a D&C back in january and it took me 2 weeks to stop spotting. I was 10 weeks along at the time of my loss. I am very sorry for your loss.. I hope you can feel better soon..
Good point about the terminology. A Spontaneous Abortion is the medical term for a miscarriage and that may very well be the case.
5 weeks and the baby died at 9.5 weeks! if the baby is dead it is called a spontaneous abortion thats just there medical terms!!... That means the baby died on its own! it is completely different then going to a clinic and having a baby with a heart beat aborted! And I had a D&C with both of mine and I wasn't to have sex for a week after surgery!! you should really call your dr and ask him how long you should wait! Since you took the pill he might make you wait longer!
She appears in fine health, good appetite, bright eyes and healthy coat, happy in disposition. Could she have spontaneously aborted for some reason? Of course we want to get her fixed when we have some extra money.
spontaneous miscarriage, induced miscarriage (with a medication called misoprostol) or dilation and curettage. You should be seen by an ob/gyn to confirm the status of the pregnancy and then discuss with you the options on how to proceed. Best regards, Dr.
If it's sac with fluid there is a possibility that it's a blithed ovum, it usually ends up being a spontaneous abortion meaning it ends up in miscarriage. Unfortunately it happens eventually, that was me a few years ago but my dr gave me the option of doing a d&c or waiting and it takes care of itself, so I waited and it happen to miscarriage sadly.
The Recurrent Miscarriage (REMIS) Study investigated whether paternal mononuclear cell immunization improves the rate of successful pregnancies. (2) Women who had had three or more spontaneous abortions of unknown cause were enrolled in a double-blind, multicenter, randomized clinical trial. 91 were assigned to immunization with paternal mononuclear cells (treatment) and 92 to immunization with sterile saline (control).
Cramping and vaginal bleeding are the most common symptoms noticed with spontaneous abortion. The cramping and bleeding may be very mild, moderate, or severe. There is no particular pattern as to how long the symptoms will last. Vaginal bleeding during early pregnancy is often referred to as a "threatened abortion.
I`m so sorry for your lost. I have passed throught that. I had misscarriage at 14 weeks but it was spontanous abortion and 2 days after the D&C my milk came. It was verry painfull. Beside the drugs (bromocriptin - inhibitor of prolactin) I must to put warm rags on my breast and extract my milk manually. You must do this to prevent mastitis. Try to forget the trisomy, and believe that the next time everything gonna be ok. Your logo is `everything4reason` and I believe in that.
I glanced at my chart, and it said INCPLT SPON AB. Which I am taking this as meaning Incomplete Spontaneous Abortion. They have not offered ultra sound, or anything to determine if everything has left my body. I am confused, and worried. I called another OB/GYN and they said they should of done an ultrasound.....when they found out I was pregnant and didn't know when I concieved. Sorry you may have to look at previous posts to understand my situation....
I was unable to locate any information concerning spontaneous abortion in women with a history of chemotherapy for breast cancer. Most of the research concerning pregnancy in breast cancer focuses on the mother's risk of recurrence and survival or on the issue of infertility with regard to premature menopause and conception.
Anything before 13 weeks is called an early miscarriage or spontaneous abortion. Anything after 13 weeks but before 20 weeks is called a late miscarriage. Anything after 20 weeks, when the fetus is considered "viable" and able to live outside the womb (with a lot of help) is called pre-term bith. Generally if all is normal with the mother, you're safER after the first trimester ends at week 13. I had an amnio but they found abnormalities in one of my sonograms. I'm also 32.
I have seen numbers like 60-70% of pregnancies spontaneously abort. The majority of these miscarriages are caused by chromosomal issues. I have seen at least one study that found that miscarriage rates for IVF pregnancies are not affected by underlying infertility in the recipient, but are correlated with the age of the egg/donor. What does all of this mean? I'm not sure. But it suggests that your odds of miscarrying are equal to the odds of a 22 year old woman.
He immediatly started talking to me about miscarriage. After two HCG test, it confirmed I was self aborting/miscarriage. I stared bleeding/miscarriaged on 12/15/05 and feel like it is my period. Would I consider this the first day of my period? We plan on trying immediatly too. I wish you luck.
I have had similar symptoms post spontaneous abortion. Did you ever get results to explain yours? And have they resolved at all?
It's known to cause spontaneous abortion. However, since then, I have had my thyroid removed and take replacement hormones, and my levels are all great. I had a chemical miscarriage (#3 if you're keeping count) back in March. Just this past August, I became pregnant again, and my fiance and I were thrilled - we hadn't been trying, but hadn't been preventing either. He has wanted a baby for a long time, and I have just recently gotten ready.
It can be a daunting thing to think about getting pregnant after miscarriage because of the fear of a second recurrence. A miscarriage, referred to by doctors as a spontaneous abortion, is the loss of a pregnancy before around twenty weeks. It is believed (according to the American Society of Reproductive Medicine) that as many as twenty five percent of known pregnancies will miscarry. This rate may be even higher as many women will miscarry before they are even aware of the pregnancy.
Hi, Here are two studies that researched male alcohol intake and correlations to spontaneous abortion (i.e., miscarriage). STUDY #1 Caffeine, Alcohol, and Psychological Stress and In Vitro Fetilization Publication Date: 02 Sep 2009. Reproductive Biology Insights Author: Hillary Klonoff-Cohen. Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, University of California, San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive MC 0607, La Jolla, CA 92093-0607. http://www.la-press.
I been in the hospital twice, an the first time they told me I had a spontaneous miscarriage, I go see my dr the next day he ran test an said I didn't, I go back to the hospital they tell me they not sure I could have had a miscarry but not sure so I'm back in forth now getting blood working wondering what's going to happen next. So good luck hope everything works out for you. I know the frustration. I'm going threw it to.
They say I should miscarry. I have had two previous miscarriages. One was spontaneous the other one the baby died inside. I've read that the docs shouldn't go just by the HCG levels. That 85% of women will rise in levels, that means 15% of us will not be "normal" but will still have a normal pregnancy. I am appalled that I was told that I would miscarry when it's something that 15% of us women experience.
