Miscarriage d&c side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage d&c side effects

miscarriage

In the past few years, it's become more common for doctors to offer medications to manage a miscarriage when hCG results or ultrasound confirm the diagnosis of missed miscarriage or blighted ovum. This gives women an alternative to D & C or a potentially long wait for a miscarriage to begin naturally.
Hello, After a D&C, there can be few possible side effects .The common ones are cramping, spotting or light bleeding. Bleeding after D and C may last from the day of procedure and can last upto 4 weeks. If you soak more than one pad in one hour it may indicate that you are bleeding excessively. Your normal periods may start 4-6 weeks after the procedure. Consult your doctor for more queries and assistance. Best luck and regards!
I miscarried at 9 weeks the first time and they did a D&C....I had no side effects from it....then got pregnant again....that time I had a pre-mature birth and the baby died later that night......they did a D&C that time because i couldn't naturally deliver the placenta naturally, again I have had no side effects.....after this second one, i went to a specialist who told me the chances of scaring or complications from a D&C are 1 in a million.....
Wow that's alot to deal with. Miscarriage alone is awful enough, and with the added pressure of having the D&C and then a repeat procedure it's head-banging.... Pls remain strong, u will get through this, and u will. I know it's really hard, I had a recent miscarriage and I had the D&C ( Had a Missed Miscarriage) It stull hurts, and am scared to have anther one. I have no children and am 30, so I hope am lucky enough to be a mum oneday.
hey, i just found out yesterday that I am miscarrying too. my clinic really tries to encourage natural miscarriage and uses d&c as a last resort. but there is also a pill that can be taken orally(i think) that will loosen the cervix temporarily in order for everything to come out easier. i won't do the d&c because i don't want any side effects either. i was thinking of going with the natural mc, but i'm starting to lean towards the pill.
I have had two D&C's in the last 6 months, and I can tell you that it can take awhile for your body to "regulate" itself again. 3 months is a bit long, and its good you have gone for medical advice. It is always a possiblility that some tissue was left behind and that is what is causing the clots, nausea, etc. Your bloodwork will tell them if there is HCG left in your system, and they may want to do an ultrasound as well.
I am proof that you can get pregnant right after a D&C. I was 7 weeks 3 days when I mc my precious angel Feb 9, 2013. I had my D&C Feb 12, 2013. I bleed the day of the procedure and that was it. To say I was devistated was an understatement. Every night my husband and I held each other until we went to sleep. On the third night we were intimate with each other. after that, we made love every day never once did we use protection.
I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I've had two myself, one exactly like yours (required a D&C) and one natural miscarriage, so I know how difficult it can be. At 8 weeks along, your hcg levels were probably pretty high, and since they have to come all the way back down to below 5 before your cycles can start back over, it can sometimes take a little while before you get your next period.
Hello friends, I've been following these boards for a while now while I was going through my own MC looking for any and all info that would help me with my own decision of which option to choose with my recent missed miscarriage - and though you don't know me - I want to thank all of you strong, dedicated women that were of help to me when I thought I could no longer pull through... your stories helped endlessly.
Today I was 9w3d pregnant, had an u/s and there was no heartbeat. They believe the baby died two weeks ago. I have not had any spotting/bleeding so I"m having a suction d&c this afternoon...i don't know what to do, im numb. this was my 4th pregnancy and we have 1 beautiful daughter, 3 miscarriages. Why us again!?!?!? Seriously again!?! Hasn't our family been through enuogh with my dad's cancer and then when we all have something to look forward to it comes crashing down again.
I am very sorry for your loss. I also had a missed mc. Miscarried end of Oct and finally started bleeding around Thanksgiving. Ended up having a D&C in March. Yes it dragged out for about 5 months. The worse time in my life. Everyone's body is different. If I were to do it all over I'd go in and have the D&C, but thats just me. 5 months after my D&C I got pregnant again and am currently 6 days past my due date - go in Thursday to be induced.
I had a m/c similar to this. I went in at 12 1/2 weeks and had u/s that found a sac measuring 8 weeks but no baby in it, no heartbeat. I had the d&c at 13 weeks. DOn't worry. It won't be bad. Mine went well, I had minimal bleeding adn spotting for about a week, no cramping at all. I wouldn't worry about scarring either. Plus I went on to have a healthy pregnancy.
I'm on my second mc, not realizing the first what it was. I did realize this time that I was pregnant, suprised my bf with baby booties and started picking out names. Then I started bleeding, period amount. While I have no pain or clots and my hcg isn't going down, but isn't going up the way it should, I'm still in limbo as to whether or not i'm mcing. If and when i find out that i am though, natural is the only way I will go.
I am sorry for your loss. I had a d&c on Nov 13th and my AF came on Dec13th. It was the same kind of period as it used to be. Perhaps b/c I had a d&c and it wasn't a lengthly miscarriage. I think that having a natural m/c has very different side effects than having a d&c. We tried again after that AF and became pregnant and just recently suffered a chemical pregnancy.
Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
I had a mc 4-06-05 (my 2nd). My hcg levels dropped then rose, began passing lg clots. I had a D&C 4-26-05. The past month I've been having back and abdominal pain that has progressively gotten worse. I went to the dr and was treated for kidney infection. I still had pain. 6-19 I took a pg test, which was positive. My levels should have been back to zero since my D & C was 2 mths ago, and there's been NO activity. Went back to the dr.
I just had a D&C on the 22nd of this month. When I found out I was expecting two months ago, I also found out I test positive for HPV. Now my doctor said it had nothing to do with the loss, but I can't help to think it had an effect. Now we want to try again, but I can recall my doctor saying now we will take care of the HPV. I have beeen reading online about Gardasil, it states that it can be used in women up to age 26. I am 31, so does this mean I cant get the vaccine?
I am recovering from a miscarriage on Feb. 11, I was 11 weeks and passed the dear little one at home. 2 weeks later I had to have a minor D&C to remove a stubborn piece of tissue. I also lost a baby at 16 weeks in September. I lost 2 other a few years back. I do have 4 boys, all healthy but was hoping for one more. i was wondering if any of you have taken Zoloft to get over the hump of depression that follows the loss.
Did you choose a natural miscarriage as well in January or a D&C? I believe that if I was further along, I might have chosed D&C, but at 8.5 weeks, I figured natural would be easier...
Does anyone have a medical explanation for the weight gain after miscarriage? I had a D&C in April for a missed miscarriage and I've gained 8 pounds since. I've been keeping a food journal and exercise log and I'm eating 1500 calories a day, exercising 3 times a week, and I can't lose weight. Even worse, according to the scale on some mornings I've gained weight! I've been tested for PCOS and hypothyroid and they're both negative.
My doctor thought it was enviormental (exercise, stress...etc) as I just started to go do body pump right around that time. Every cycle before that was 30-31 days to the day!! So we will see.....
She told me that I should wait two more weeks and if I still haven't had it yet she will give me Provera. Does anybody know if there are any side effects to Provera and why she would hesistate to give it to me? Also how long does it take to get your period after you start taking it and how long do you have to take it?
Haylay,mc is miscarriage, d & C is the operation to remove any remains of the fetus that is left inside you from your miscarriage.
Hello Annabelle, Just wanted to tell you my history. I had a miscarriage in Feb.2001 (D&C)and another May 2001 (natural miscarriage but said it was to soon to be pregnant again) and then delivered a healthy baby girl June 2003. The doctor told me that you should never get pregnant before 3-6 months after a miscarrage. I had another miscarriage 9-29.
I just had a miscarriage and I am heading for the coffee right now. I cannot believe how many people are experiencing this same headache problem. If there are any obgyn doctors reading this post, maybe you should consider adding this to the after effects of miscarriage/D&C/D&E and find something to help the pain. Tylenol and ibuprofin do not cut it!
I dont think it's depo. I had horrible side effects from it, and was on it for 3 yrs. before I got off. (I gained 50lbs. migraines too,but had no choice.) I had been on a high risk med for my skin condition, it stayes in the system for 3 yrs. after stopping the med. Well, I got off, and got AF the month of my skipped shot. I used nuvaring for 3 mo. and then stopped for 3 mo to used natural fertility awareness. Then DH decided to jump me 3 days before ovulation and didn't p/o. so...
I found this story on the web, I know it is long, but I think it helps to understand what the hubby's might be thinking. I know us ladies who've had miscarriage can relate to the woman's side. Take care ~Kristen One Miscarriage, One Man, One Woman One Miscarriage This is the story of my latest miscarriage. The miscarriage portion was written as the events actually occurred. My husband and I wrote separately about our feelings a few weeks later.
As for the flow, perhaps it's the progesterone that's messing everything up. Apparently one of the side effects is that it can cause spotting and/or AF to show early. Considering that it should normally keep AF away, maybe it's just messing you around. I hope it's all resolved soon.
