Avatar f tn My wife developed pain from Parsonage Turner Syndrome three days after reciveing the H1N1 vaccine. Her pain remains severe in the arm particularly. Her symptoms are classic for PTS and other causes appear very less likely based on w/u to date. MRI of plexus and neck all normal 2 weeks into symptoms. Minimal weekness yet. Interesting I beliew she had Swine flu months before her sho occurred. How atypical is it to have this degree of pain )9 out of 10 pain) three weeks after onset of symptoms.
168348 tn?1379357075 Is the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine safe for pregnant women? A: Influenza vaccines have not been shown to cause harm to a pregnant woman or her baby. The seasonal flu shot (injection) is proven as safe and already recommended for pregnant women. The 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine will be made using the same processes and facilities that are used to make seasonal influenza vaccines.
982641 tn?1252025412 So the CDC came out yesterday with their recommendation that Pregnant women be the first group to get vaccinated because 13% of the people that have died of swine flu in the US have been pregnant women (much higher than in the overall population). They plan to have the swine flu vaccine (H1N1) ready in October some time.

478429 tn?1265244387 Also, just as a side note about the H1N1 vaccine that I read about in an Associated Press article yesterday--if you receive the H1N1 vaccine, you will need to get a booster four weeks later. So that is two vaccinations in the period of a month of a vaccine that normally (seasonal flu) only takes one shot.
Avatar n tn It is not the shot, it is the one they spray up the nose. I do not think they have the shot form with the H1N1 flu vaccine. I already got the regular seasonal flu shot. They nasal spray flu vaccine contains live viruses, so that's why I am asking this question. Thank You.
Avatar m tn HI Doctor, My wife and I had a hard time this week as she was diagnosed a miscarriage without any symptoms (no bleeding, no cramping, no clots) when she was doing the 17th week doctor visit. The doctor told us that this was happened during 13-14 weeks pregnancy, which shocked us. Because we had a doctor visit on 13w+3d and everything was great. (We heard the heartbeat, measured the length/width, etc.) If the doctor was right, which means right after the doctor visit, our baby passed away.
Avatar f tn Got mine today + my pneumonia shot.
151928 tn?1275707337 It is important for a pregnant woman to receive the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine as well as a seasonal influenza vaccine. A pregnant woman who gets any type of flu is at risk for serious complications and hospitalization. Pregnant women who are otherwise healthy have been severely impacted by the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (formerly called “novel H1N1 flu” or “swine flu”).
454221 tn?1259445739 s more concerned about than just having the vaccine. As far as the thimerosal found in the H1N1 vaccine that people say may cause Autism, the amt. found in the vaccine is less than eating a can of tuna. There also hasn't been extensive research to conclusively say that thimerosal causes Autism. In the end, it is an individual's choice and whatever you choose to do, I'm sure you're doing in the best interest for you and your baby.
Avatar m tn I just recently had the H1N1 vaccine and the following day my right jaw was swollen. Obvisiously this was a big concern for me considering I just had the H1N1 vaccine the night before. I went to my doctor and he told me its a possibility that I have a stone in salivary gland and recommended that I suck on a lemon and he perscribed me some penicillin and if it gets worse I should see him.

While older people and newborns are usually at greatest risk for complications, swine flu is actually most threatening to the young. Typically, about 90% of flu deaths are in people over 65. Last year, however, about 90% of flu deaths were in people under 30. About 10% of flu deaths last year were in children, according to the CDC.
875512 tn?1245524526 The H1N1 vaccine is not available yet, and I don't think it's even FDA approved yet. I got the flu shot when I was p/g with DS and I will probably get one this pregnancy also. I am iffy about the H1N1 vaccine. I posted a poll on here not to long ago about it and I'm sure you could do a search for it. But for me, I think it's too new of a vaccine especially for p/g woman to recieve it. I don't know though. I'm going to talk to my OB about it at my next appt.
Avatar m tn ll probably not get Season vaccine since the vast majority is currently H1N1 and Seasonal vaccine is hard to find now. But, we will go for the H1N1 vaccine when available. As Viaduk says, we will avoid the nasal stuff and wait for the injectable. My son (on campus will for sure get it, probably sooner). The rest of the family is lower risk so we may be waiting a while.

147426 tn?1317265632 Every year the vaccine manufacturers have just a few months to come up with the vaccine for the prediction that year. H1N1 popped up out of nowhere in the early summer. Yes, the testing of this vaccine was rushed, but the process to make it is tried and true. The swine flu is pretty new to the human species. Apparently it appeared a decade or so ago. So few of us have any resistance to it. Because of this more people will catch it and those that do may have a more severe disease.
Avatar f tn he told me seriously that he has seen the pg women who ended up in the ICU and it scares him that he would rather I take the vaccine with the reported side effects than risk getting H1N1. To those who had it, when did you get your vaccine and did you have any side effects?

Avatar f tn Hello and welcome, I am sorry to hear that you had a negative reaction to the H1N1 vaccine. I have decided against getting the H1N1 vaccine this year, but I did get the seasonal flu virus vaccine. I have heard of people experiencing flare ups due to vaccines, but I never have. I did however get a very small case of the flu one year when I got a flu shot years ago. I am considered in a "high risk group" because I have asthma, so I normally get them.
Avatar f tn BCG vaccine, typhoid vaccine [Wikipedia contributors. "Attenuated vaccine." Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia, 29 Mar. 2011. The common wisdom seems to be that you should consult your neurologist before taking any live/attenuated vaccine.
Avatar n tn Thank you very much guys..I was asking as I had a hep B vaccine and H1N1 influenza vaccine before my exposure..was just afraid those two vaccines might affect my test result...hopefully teak would see this too!
Avatar f tn Stress can't cause a miscarriage unless it brings forth a different medical issue that could cause a miscarriage! I'm so sorry she said that to you, it's hard enough dealing with a miscarriage but to have someone gracefully say it could be your fault?? Wow.
