Sometimes, dividing the dose into several doses throughout the day may help. Also taking the smallest dose you can take is best to avoid the side effects. Initially, many people have side effects, but after your body gets used to the med. it goes away (usually after a week or 2).
mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... ve been suffering some mild insomnia, excess sweating, but perhaps most off putting is the lack of libido and sexual response!! I realise these are listed side effects, but will these resolve themselves or are they something I'm simply stuck with if I chose to continue with the medication? I'm finding the medication helpful, and I want to continue, but the last side effect in particular is concerning for me as my husbands "love language" is physical intimacy.

racing heart - I lost about 5 lbs in 3 days.
skin sensitive to the touch.
feeling like I was beat up with a baseball bat on my back.
shaking.

I was suffering from severe insomnia last month. I tried sleeping pills (Rhovane/Immovane, Benzodiazapine) and they were baaaddddd. Extremely addictive with anxiety and agitation during the day. I stopped them cold turkey and suffered a week or more of rebound insomnia and withdrawal. With that behind me my GP asked me if I wanted to try Celexa; he wasn't sure if I was showing signs of depression but thought it might help with the anxiety that was feeding my insomnia.
I take melatonin, not nightly, but maybe two or three or four nights a week. I have tried to read up on side effects and have not found much information at all. I don't notice any side effects, myself.
Since melatonin is a short-acting drug, and the therapeutic effects of it do not seem to last long at all, I'm thinking that any side effects would not last longer than a few hours or a day or two -- at most -- after you discontinued using it.

Trazadone isn't a sleep remedy, but it had the unwanted side effect of making people very sedated.
