Mirapex off label uses

Common Questions and Answers about Mirapex off label uses

mirapex

Avatar f tn After reviewing the medications I was already taking (to avoid any conflicts) she recommended Lamotrigine for my intense anxiety. I am VERY familiar with off-label drug uses, but I can find no information re: the use of this drug for my situation. It is a drug used for bi-polar disorder and seizures. I thought that Atavan would be the drug of choice, and after reading more about Lamotrigine, I have become actually quite shocked about this recommendation.
Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
574118 tn?1305135284 Actually my husband does take ADs (Paxil) but that doesn't make him manic, it was the Mirapex that made him manic, which is not an AD but is rather being used off label to treat fibromyalgia. The ADs themselves don't make him manic. Hope that clarifies things a little bit more!
100019 tn?1335919717 For genotype 1 patients who cannot take interferon, the panel recommends sofosbuvir plus the HCV protease inhibitor simeprevir (Olysio), with or without ribavirin, again for 12 weeks. This off-label regimen has not been through full Phase 3 testing, but performed very well in the Phase 2 COSMOS trial.
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe it to you for this? If not, STOP right now...'experimenting' with prescription medications, which are extremely addictive can NEVER have good outcomes.
Avatar f tn They all have reported feeling better daily - this off label approach is a God Send! Now I will finish out the 12 weeks - they will do the viral load test again at that time and then 12 weeks post treatment test again to declare me officially SVR!!! NO HORRIBLE INTERFERON OR RIBAVARIN THIS TIME FOR ME!!
1635208 tn?1300807160 Hi welcome to the Hepatitis C community Olysio per the prescribing information sheet is intended to be used with interferon and Ribavirin. The same applies to Sovaldi. Per prescription they are not used together. However there have been clinical trials using them together "off label" and they have been shown to be highly effective when used together. You can web search for Cosmos clinical trial cohort 1 and cohort 2 to see study results.
1390101 tn?1281000559 Thanks for the info I have not tried requip, I do know it is similiar to mirapex, it increases the dopamine in the brain and when you have to much dopamine it can cause addictive behaviors. Since off mirapex I have no thoughts of gambling and have not gamble in a while. If you google mirapex or requip possible side effects, addictive behavior or OCD. I appreciate all the feedback from both of you.
749148 tn?1302860959 hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.
398059 tn?1447945633 Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.
462570 tn?1273632977 He uses Mirapex to block or work with the Dopamine transmitters. His name is Dr. Wood out of Renton Washington. You might look for the publication on pubnet. It might answer your question fully.
487070 tn?1313665952 By the end of the day I felt mentally spent from it. First off, does anyone have this same type issue I have? My entire leg does not twitch. Just the upper part at the same time my arms do. I know of no one personally. Secondly, I have been put on Pramoxile (sp?) Mirapex for it. Started at 1/8 mg and increased over time to now 1 mg. I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS.
Avatar f tn My question is once I have stopped taking these horrible pills, what do I do about my restless legs as it makes me feel like ripping my limbs off. Iv tried all the medication for it but nothing helps.
Avatar f tn My doctor had me trying to wean off too quickly, so I am now using the Point of Return (Label Me Sane) protocol, which is a very slow taper of 5% per week. It also uses very good supplements to get you feeling normal before they even allow you to start the taper. The testimonials are extremely positive. Check out the Label Me Sane website if you want more information, and good luck to you. These meds are indeed terrible things.
1028452 tn?1537448484 Is neuropathic because a nerve compression or damage problem has not been found, or is cannabis like the off-label uses for pure anti-depressants? "The patient stopped complaining, so it works!" Despite the patient being too doped out to remember pains, difficulties, or otherwise have a coherant thought... Awaiting the pitchforks and torches.
410281 tn?1254229064 PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
1154672 tn?1262222616 I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.
1200450 tn?1317496867 The doctor put me on mirapex. She told me it would make me very sleepy and help to control the jerking and twitching at night to allow me to get better sleep. I spent most of my sleep time in phase 2 sleep with very little time in REM. My question is about the mirapex. Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better.
405614 tn?1329144114 i have bad rls oh my i tell you i have tried every thing and the only thing that gives me relief is mirapex ...its a god send many many nites i would be moving my legs so bad i would cry ...but not anymore thank god....take care of yourself....((((((hugs)))))....
Avatar m tn Is the person having memory problems? If not, why are they taking it? There are lots of drugs that have "off label" uses for lots of drugs so perhaps it was prescribed for something else. The doctor can probably let you know what that is and why it's being used. I don't think it will hurt, but there are side effects in every med and it would be a good idea to check drug interactions, etc. Try Drugs.com. If you cannot speak to the patient's doc, can you call your own?
Avatar m tn I think the one you are thinking about is called Hylands and it is a supplement.
459663 tn?1236000877 it is supposed to be a non-narcotic pain med....alot of dr's using for off-label uses...for insomnia and anti-dep. ...it does have alot of drug interactions so be careful...was on it a couple of times...no problem quitting.....all the best......
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
410281 tn?1254229064 I had been having a lot of unexplained symptoms such as tremor, muscle twitching and jerking, tingling in my extremeties and severe eye pain and facial numbness. Migraine was ruled out. Since I started on the mirapex most of my symptoms have either gone away completely or greatly diminished. Could they have been simply caused by the sleep deprivation? Thanks for your time.
410281 tn?1254229064 It's called giving you a drug for your symptom that is "off-label." In other words, giving you a drug that was made for one disease, but may be used for something else. No need to be afraid, unless you are having problems with the drug. When used "off-label," I believe that you should be more aware "weird symptoms." By that I mean....I have restless leg (limb) syndrome. They put me on Parkinson drugs.
