I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.

I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....
I have tried "Miralax", still have severe constipation. I may have a bowel movement twice a week, sometimes once; I have even gone longer without a few times, but it varies. I am a low does of one 25 (micrograms or something or rather) fentanyl patch every three days, and a norcco prescription that I take a few times a week if I have worsened pain.
Background: I had a trauma accident years ago, much emergency surgery, alot having to do with my abdomen and internal bleeding.
Oh poor baby girl, miralax and apple juice probably gave her bad stomach cramps, I really don't know what to advice you but if I would be in this situation I would stop giving her miralax an apple juice till she recovers from those cramps, and if later she still has constipation try a smaller doze of apple juice, I know prune juice helps also but have no idea if it's safe for a 3 week old, and also it might not be a diarrhea, just a regular baby poop, it supposed to be runny and yellow i
he told me that I could use miralax and gatorade and it would be fine..I mean really I got the bathroom anywhere from 2 to 7 times a day, the prep is all I need to push me over the top...so I am hoping that I will be able to tolerate the prep and the colonoscopy will go fine.

This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
It should be in right quantity and you should be drinking enough water. It would be a good idea to consult a nutrition specialist regarding this.
There are some exercises in yoga which help clear a bowel movement. You could try those and learn them from an expert.

I take Miralax and have Gastroparesis. I can't have a BM without the Miralax!!!! It has truly been a God sent to me! I have a spastic colon and, well needless to say the Miralax is the best tasting, no side effect product out there!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!! My daughter who is 12 (almost 13) takes it occasionally (only a half cap full) when she's stopped up.

This time it was 3 weeks with nothing coming out so i took miralax for a couple days and then had a lot of diarreha so i stopped the miralax and 2 days layer every morning i wld go to the bathroom but it wld be long very thin or flat ribbon like. I still feel bloated and uncomfortable. Im so scared about the ribbon stool because everything online says cancer or blockage. Im a 38 yr old female. Also i started the miralax again last night but havent went to the bathroom yet.
I have done that, you will be fine probably! Miralax really doesn't have much of a taste. Just get a gatorade color you can tolerate. Good luck on your surgery!
Miralax only gets absorbed in your bowels. It helps by pulling the water into your bowels to help you go and give you softer poop. It doesn't get absorbed into the bloodstream so it won't harm the baby. Class C only means there hasn't been any studies showing there is side effects that will harm the fetus. Doctors prescribe it and suggest it because it is a non-stimulant if taken at the correct dosage.
I would stop the Miralax completely. The diarrhea you are experienceing may be a residual effect of the Miralax. Try eating a well balanced diet, including some fiber, and if you see no improvement within 2 weeks, see another doctor who will listen and get to the root of the problem. Good luck to you.

I've had chronic constipation for a few weeks now. I was rally backed up when I went to the ER 2 weeks ago, and I've been going but only a little everyday. I had an enema and magnesium citrate at the hospital 2 weeks ago, which only got rid of a little. The past two weeks my doctor started prescribing miralax, which the past 2 days I've been taking 2 capfuls per day.
My doctor said I can take miralax, I have been taking it for 5 days and nothing. At what point do I need to go in to the doctor? Should I just start taking more miralax?

The next day I went back to the doctor and she said the x Ray showed I had lots of stool and prescribed Miralax and ranitidine because she thought the abdominal pain was caused by acid. I took Miralax for two weeks and it stopped the bloating I had a follow up on April 7th. Before the follow up I went on that Monday because I had blood in my stool the emergency Doctor of the clinic said it was an anal fissure and increased the miralax to three caps.
