I have been on Minocycline for coming up 9 years now and i'm currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.

Some people do much better than I did and expereince fewer side effects. I tend to be sensitive to meds and always have to read side effects of anything I take because I will get about half of them.

that dissipated and headache nausea began. as hgl went down fatigue and weakness/breathlessness began. when nausea ended just a loss of appetite and lost taste buds appeared. skin issues did not show til well into treatment and have remained. arthritis pain showed up about week 15. my journal tracks most of this should u care to look. just remember everyone is different. i have had alot of the sx but none debilitating as i asked the folks here what to do and i followed their advice.

Hi, The adverse effects from minocycline hydrochloride treatment are uncommon, but there are few reported cases of hyperpigmentation as a side effect of its use. The cutaneous hyperpigmentation usually resolves after cessation of the drug. Tooth discoloration, however, generally remains. Pigmentation associated with minocycline most often appears in patients after long-term therapy, usually at doses greater than 100 mg per day.

There are many antibiotics and most have side effects that can be really bad. A lot of drugs on line are not even at the dose they say they are. Also, only some bacteria are sensitive to mnocycline or a particular antibiotic . You can't just take an antibiotic and expect it to work unless you know what bacteria you have and which antibiotics work for it and if that particular strain is resistant to start with.

Started Minocycline 100mg 2x per day for suspected neuro Lyme and feel horrible. I know herx is possible, but feel more like I'm experiencing side effects, and wondering if I should switch abx. I have been on Sovaldi, Olysio and Riboviron for 4 weeks. I am finding that I feel very poorly with a laundry list of noxious symptoms. I feel very alone since my docs said that the side effect profile would be very tolerable. Many years ago I was on interferon and riboviron but could not tolerate the tx.
