Avatar n tn Hi, The adverse effects from minocycline hydrochloride treatment are uncommon, but there are few reported cases of hyperpigmentation as a side effect of its use. The cutaneous hyperpigmentation usually resolves after cessation of the drug. Tooth discoloration, however, generally remains. Pigmentation associated with minocycline most often appears in patients after long-term therapy, usually at doses greater than 100 mg per day.
Avatar m tn There are many antibiotics and most have side effects that can be really bad. A lot of drugs on line are not even at the dose they say they are. Also, only some bacteria are sensitive to mnocycline or a particular antibiotic . You can't just take an antibiotic and expect it to work unless you know what bacteria you have and which antibiotics work for it and if that particular strain is resistant to start with.
Avatar m tn Started Minocycline 100mg 2x per day for suspected neuro Lyme and feel horrible. I know herx is possible, but feel more like I'm experiencing side effects, and wondering if I should switch abx. How long should I stick with this? Anyone have success with Minocycline? Do the side effects lessen with time?

Avatar n tn Some people do much better than I did and expereince fewer side effects. I tend to be sensitive to meds and always have to read side effects of anything I take because I will get about half of them.
507935 tn?1217359454 How long does it usually take for the side effects to go away? Is constant fatigue apart of the drugs or the disease? Do you know anything about imuran that I may need to worry about?
Avatar m tn Again I consult with second, he prescribed me mentioned above, But I read from Internet that Isotretinoin has many side effects including hair fall, so I neglect that dosage of Isotretinoin by afraid , only azithromycin took for 6 days. Pimples are reduced to some extent but they are leaving scars on face. Is HH fudic cream will work for both pimples and scars ? Dosage of Minoz 50 (minocycline) will work for me if I takes this 20 days, is it good for health to take it in 6 months for 20 days ?
Avatar f tn There are all kinds of side effects to taking antibiotics, and they should only be taken if absolutely necessary. For one thing, there's the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria. For another, they kill off beneficial bacteria as well as toxic ones, and some of these beneficial bacteria play a role in mental health, such as producing B vitamins. The connection of probiotics to mental health is one of the hottest research topics in the medical field.
Avatar m tn I have stopped using the Triamcinolone Cream two months ago because of the side effects such as periorbital dermatitis.. What are the common causes of a Papular Rash? I am exposed to Dogs and Cats on a daily basis, could this be Toxocariasis? I haven't had a fever but do have a dry cough. The only meds I am on now are Allegra, Zantac and just ending a four week round of Minocycline. If this is possibly from Minocycline, how long does it take for a drug induced rash to go away?
Avatar m tn I have been on Minocycline for coming up 9 years now and i'm currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.
7988747 tn?1396207441 I was taking minocycline for about a month. I went to my Obgyn and found out I was 7 weeks pregnant. Could being on minocycline for a month when I was 7 weeks pregnant affected my baby?
Avatar n tn The meat around my eyes and cheeks have just disappeared and I look very sick. Is this a side affect of prolonged use of Minocycline? I've only noticed this change a few months into taking this medication. Can you please help me? I just want my face to go back to its original form. Is there anything I can do for this?
Avatar f tn I've been taking mino for two weeks. My dermatologist prescribed it to me for my severe acne. Lately I started having an allergic reaction. My scalp, my palms in my hands, feet and my body started itching really bad. I feel like ants all over my body. I stopped now and took benadryl pills and it helped. So now, what am I going to do now to help fix my acne?! I don't like Accutane either coz I read bad side effects. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice.
737143 tn?1232824698 However, shortness of breath is definitely indicated as one of the side-effects of the drug itself. I hope your doctor has better answers. Let us know how it goes with your Md on Monday.
Avatar m tn Hello, Accutane is one of the most common drugs to be prescribed for treatment of acne. However it should be used under medical supervision and there are many side effects. Accutane increases the sensitivity of skin to sunlight and also causes hyperpigmentation as its side effect. Usually it goes away after you stop the medicine but it goes away very gradually and may take several months to go away. In some cases it is irreversible and may not go away.
Avatar m tn The high lipid solubility of minocycline may cause vestibular [ear] side effects, limiting the administration of minocycline to 100 mg twice daily rather than 200 mg twice daily. Because of this, doxycycline (400 mg daily) remains the preferred antibiotic for treatment of Lyme neuroborreliosis. For patients for whom treatment fails, minocycline may be a therapeutic option [footnote omitted].
Avatar f tn I started a new medication a few weeks ago called Minocycline. I looked up possible side effects and a few of the symptoms I've been experiencing were listed. It did say to seek attention quickly if any of the serious side effects were experienced. I made an appointment with my primary doctor on Monday. Hopefully she can answer some of my questions. I'm just really tired of feeling this way.
Avatar n tn I have no symptoms listed as side effects for this drug. Not alergic to penicilin or any drugs and never had any reaction to any medicine (worst ever was a slight stomach discomfort if taken on empty stomach and such). I would think I was imagining this but this guy reported something similar: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Urology/Prostatitis-after-Chlamydia-infection-cleared/show/226205 "During the Doxy course however the symptoms worsened a LOT." Now what? Stop?
Avatar n tn I had stop using it and the irritation is even worse. I searched the cream and perioral dermatitis is listed as one of its side effects! So I've been applying a cream that gives me the same skin problem I already have!? Also I'm using Benzaderm 10% wash with aloe vera, Tazorac and taking solodyn (minocycline) for acne treatment. Do these products irritate perioral dermatits even more? and what do I do about steroid cream?
Avatar f tn You will often hear of these being used by professional athletes, Olympians and others who want a drug-free, effective, non-invasive safe solution without side-effects. Take a look at www.MultiRadiance.com for more information, studies and applications. LLLT may be an option for you.
Avatar f tn I recently read about a genetic test called AcneDX that tests whether or not oral antibiotics will be an effective acne treatment. My teenaged daughter has moderate acne and tetracycline has been suggested. I'm concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help.
Avatar f tn Yesterday, after 3 phone calls, I was prescribed Minocycline 100mg # 30. Can you tell me why Doxy is preferred to Minocycline? Does the Doxy work faster than the Mino? I am allergic to NSAIDS if that makes any difference.
18663 tn?1198171815 There are many medications that are ototoxic to our ears causing hearing loss and tinnitus, some have permanent effects while others have side effects only while taking the medication. On your particular list, Asprin stands out the most. Asprin does cause hearing los & tinnitus as do most of the NSAIDS (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs). As far as the your other medications, I would consult your physician to learn more about the side effects of those particular medications.
