We decided to use a topical cream, for the more oily areas on my face, and for me to take a 100mg dosage of Apo-Minocycline two times a day (morning and night). This worked fantastic for a few months. Eventually, I developed this odd rash on one side of my neck. The skin was very red and dry, somewhat scaly/bumpy, a bit raised, uneven + about the size/shape of my thumb. It kind of itched/hurt as well. I wasn't sure if it was connected to my skincare or not, so I continued with my routine.
Attack began resulting in vomiting (not out of stomach pain, but out of the sensations) Felt as if needed to go to hospital, but shook it off. Continued happening and has not ceased. No symptoms present before onset (or at least no awareness of symptoms).
Symptoms
-Double Vision
-Tingling in hands, feet, and thighs
-deep pain that feels pseudo flu-like without the accompanying fever/congestion; essentially weakness “deep in the bones.” (particularly rib cage and back). Fatigue/weakness.

For the last year, I've been on 100mg of minocycline per day to treat acne. I looked up that minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV because it can potentially reduce replication and activation in latent infected HIV cells, primary CD4+ cells.
I could not find a testing location in our rural location, read about Gonorrhea and knew that was my issue, I had discharge, pain while urinating. I took some of her Minocycline 200 MG for two days and three days of 100MG ALL SYMTOMS disappeared. I abstained from sex and took my first appointment at testing center in the city which was last Friday. They gave me a shot of antibiotics and two huge antibiotic pills, and did all the testing.
Since July 2017 I have been dealing with bad outbreaks of folliculitis on my chest and neck. The first time was a reaction from a tea tree oil acne line I tried out, but the times after that seem to be a mystery. I have been on and off antibiotics for this, including cephalexin (twice) and minocycline. My skin clears up on the medication but it breaks out again about week after treatment ends.
About bit over a month ago, I was started on Minocycline for adult acne. I took it twice per day for about 2 1/2 weeks when I suddenly started having what I believe was a reaction. It started with a stiffness and pain in my fingers on both hands. By the next day, it had spread into my wrists and elbows. Not thinking of the medicine, I continued taking it 2 more days. During those two days, my fingers, hands, and arms swelled until I could not wear any jewelry or my watch.
ever since I started Minocycline (about 2 weeks ago) I've also been feeling like I can't concentrate, and also like I'm not as smart or as sharp as I was before. could this also be related to the medication? thanks for getting back so quickly. I will talk to my physician and see what he has to say. hopefully I can find an alternative or go off the medication and get my life back.
I have had this rash only on my neck for over a month now. Just red, doesn't itch. I went to the derm which was actually a nurse practitioner last week. She took one look and said acne/ follicullitis. But I don't have acne anywhere else? So she gave me minocycline, which i had already been taking on and off. Also, told me to get Panoxil 10%. The day after I used the panoxil the rash has become redder and progressively spreading.
She sometimes feels fine with little pain and sometimes unbearable joint pain and can barely walk. The hives come and go also.
We went to ER and doctors and ran a lot of blood tests and took chest xray and knee xray and everything appears to be "normal". She has been dealing with this for about a week and they told her to take motrin and claritin.
I don't know what to do. Making an appt. to see rheumatologist as soon as possible. If anyone has any answers please help!

Long term treatment with minocycline (at least 100 mg/day) can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin, nails, bones, thyroid, teeth, palate, eye, heart valves. Thyroid cancer is frequently found with black thyroid syndrome (macroscopic black discolouration of the thyroid gland).
Did your doctor say the CRP cleared up because of the cleansing or the acidophillis?
My son has this and after about three years and lots of treatments, it is no better.
We used ketaconozole shampoo 12% and cream 2% all over him and it started to help clear it up but the shampoo burned him so bad he couldn't stand it and the cream did nothing. I have not heard of anyone being completely cured permanently of this. Has anyone?
I have been struggling with Perioral Dermatits for over a year!! Not the first time Ive had this! Been treated with numerous antibiotics. As soon as I finish the antibiotic less than a week later it's back!!! Im allergic to sulfur! Im currently taking minocycline and been on this for two weeks, bout a week before my face broke out in a rash and its on my upper and lower cheeks sometimes neck. Im demographic, don't understand that yet.
Doc looked at my urine, said no white blood cells in urine, but decided to put me on 2 weeks of Minocycline 50mg twice daily. Two days after I started taking it my symptoms came ROARING back, including occasional discomfort in the perineum. I doubled-down to 100mg twice daily. After another 2-3 days without the symptoms getting much better I went to another clinic for a culture. Got tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia and mycoplasma. Three days later culture was ALL NEGATIVE.

I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
I was diagnosed with Lyme based on a positive Western Blot test and a Sunnybrook test that was indicative on the 93 band (I think that was the band) I am on Minocycline and was wondering if others out there were also on it and if it worked for them. I seem to be getting better. There are ups and downs but I am able to move much better than anytime in the past 7 and a half years. Just wondering how long one has to be on the drug and if it really makes you better.
I started minocycline feb 10 and conceived my baby feb 21 but i didnt stop the medicine until march 9 ( only because i didnt know i was preg) im 7 weeks now and i just wanna know has anybody else expericed this with a positive outcome ?
i have been taking minocycline 100 mg to 200 mg a day sometimes and using retin a micro 0.1% gel every night for 2 years.I have been getting alot of acne for the last 2 or 3 months so i went to my see my dermatologist.he said since i been taking minocycline 100 mg daily for 2 years and using the retin a micro 0.1% for 2 years and im still breaking out i should try something new like it may be wearing off....he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....
I noticed alot of skin changes since giving birth. Before her birth I was 170lb now 210lb. I noticed behind my neck and breast I have brown blothcy, 3D ish looking rash. The rash behind my neck tends to be itchy now and then but not much at all. I noticed that this is under folds. I try to shower 2 times a day and keep my hygien clean as can. I went to the derm and they gave me Minocycline but nothing seems to be working. My derm.
I have all of the symptoms, no money to get tested. I do have some old minocycline and tetracycline from old acne.
I have taken Sulfasalazine which did not work and have taken Minocycline for 4 years. The Minocycline has eradicated many of the symptoms but not the most severe. I am convinced the disease is bacterial and have tried a number of antibiotic combinations to no avail. After reading up on it alot it seems that many arthritis conditions are caused by bacteria that, once in the joint create bio films that can not be broken down by Antibiotics.
I was off minocycline for five days before I started birth control,as starting will the minocycline still be in my system and effect the birth control?

ve read on here that a person taking PEP should test after 3 months of being off PEP to obtain a conclusive result. I took minocycline for 4 months after possible exposure. Then got tested 3 and a half weeks later (around 5 months). Negative result. The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again?
s opinion on the effectiveness of Accutane on smaller acne heads. My acne is on my face, neck, back, and chest. There are not very many big acne heads (I have benzoyl peroxide5%, Differin 3%, and Minocyclin 100 mg twice a day). These medications play a big part in my not having many big zits.
Anyways, I have lots of little acne heads all over. How effective is Accutane at getting rid of these heads and keeping them off? (from your experience or from official sources)
