507935 tn?1217359454 Thanks for the welcome, it's much appreciated. Minocycline is a commonly prescribed antibiotic for acne. AIH is not listed as a side effect to the drug (of course) but I wouldn't want anyone I know to be on it after what happened with me. My liver failure happened right before I got diagnosed. Just had the usual jaundice, joint pain, nausea, etc. I was immediately put on prednisone once they found out my counts were around 1500 and had a liver biopsy.
Avatar m tn I have all of the symptoms, no money to get tested. I do have some old minocycline and tetracycline from old acne.
Avatar f tn If you live through it, the damage it causes your body--added to the damage done by surgeons cutting out as much cartilage, etc.,as they can--is permanent. So is the pain. It's been 3.5 years since I caught the initial infection during minor, out-patient knee surgery and a year since the last of my 5 clean and repair surgeries. The last surgery enabled me to walk (short distances) again. But living on crutches for two years damaged the good knee.
Avatar n tn I was using alot of hardcore addhessives at work, could the fumes from those chemicals have caused it? Also I was taking minocycline prior ? Can eye damage repair itself over time?
Avatar f tn I am so scared I have caused damage to my liver. After I get off of these will it repair itself or am I in trouble. The only syntom I have right now is welling in my akiles and feet. But i have taken fluid pills for the fluid for yrs before I started taken lorcet.
Avatar m tn The recommended dose of paracetamol for a single adult is two standard 500 mg tablets. Researches have reported that the threshold for liver damage to start from a single paracetamol overdose is 15 gms (30 tablets). However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).
Avatar f tn (Former drug user) what are the chances I already have liver damage??? I go in the morning for a liver scan to check and I am nervous to know!!!
Avatar n tn Is it possible to cause liver damage from a few years of pain med abuse? Damage severe enough to cause stomach pains?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Darvocet for about two years now. I began just taking one a week at night after a bad day and it has progressed to 1-3 daily for about 6 months now. I went to the Dr. for a checkup yesterday and the ALT liver function test was high. The other liver tests were normal just that one was high. The Dr. thinks it is from my acid reflux medication and is changing that but I rarely take it. Could it be the Darvocet?

Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me what it's called when you have liver damage from medications
Avatar f tn The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..
Avatar n tn I have never been to hospital, I dont appear to have yellowing of the skin or eyes. What is the likly hood of damage to my liver, and if stoped now could my liver possibly recover from and damege.
Avatar f tn Hard to say but if he stops attacking the liver with alcohol, no further damage should be done and some of those numbers should go down at least a little.
1012981 tn?1322603293 My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage. His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach. They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area. He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense. In this situation what is his chance to make it through this? The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.

Avatar f tn Should I be worried that I have liver damage that is just not showing up? I have changed my diet significantly ( no dairy or gluten) but I am still very bloated. I am sick with worry that I have caused permanent damage. I am still very young, 28. What are ur thoughts?
Avatar m tn I am now 8 weeks pregnant and in the first month I was taking Minocycline and antibiotic which is a class D drug. They say it causes fetal damage. Just wondering if anyone has taken this medicine during early pregnancy and what was the results??? As Dr have mentioned there are minor chances that this medicine will effect baby's teeth and bones... Looking forward to positive response...
Avatar n tn Hi Can anyone, please give me any advice, Ive been taking minocycline tablets for 5 months and have just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant the last few days I increased the dose to 200mg as my skin was terrible. I am now worried sick that I have caused fetal damage to my nuborn baby. Can anyone advise me what to do Thank you.
Avatar n tn The hepatologist says that it was caused by the minocycline that she was taking for acne. She has some scarring on her liver and is currently taking prednisone. The doctor hopes that this won't be a lifelong disease since it appears to be drug induced. This has been and still is, very frightening for us. I pray a lot.
Avatar m tn Just thinking,,,if a person is a stage 2 with moderate damage and does one full treatment and relapses, would the liver have reversed back to at least a stage 1?...also with this liver improvement, wouldnt the next round of treatment make it more sucessful...starting as a stage one now as appossed to stage two at the orginal start? i know there are chances of viral mutations and all that ,but all these things aside...i think this is positive news to the re-treater....ANY THOUGHTS?
Avatar f tn Any guesses on how much cummulative damage is being done to a liver with ALTs in the 22-69 range over 10 years (average about 41)? Very low viral load. E-negative. E-antibody +.
Avatar n tn However, many of the drug treatments for HS are not suitable for women who are either trying to get pregnant or who are pregnant as they are either contraceptives or can cause damage the unborn baby (teratogenic). So if you are taking any medication to control your HS, you must talk to your doctor before trying to get pregnant so they can adjust your medication appropriately. This way, you will minimise any risk to you and your baby.
