Common Questions and Answers about Minocycline joint pain

These might be side effects from the drugs, so in that case you should stop taking them and call your Dr. Joint pain and unusual bleeding are side effects from taking minocycline which may indicate an allergic reaction. Is your chest pain followed by difficulty breathing? As that is a side effect too. Just stop taking the meds and see a Dr because it could be nothing to do with the meds at all. I don't think there is any link to HPV.
She sometimes feels fine with little pain and sometimes unbearable joint pain and can barely walk. The hives come and go also. We went to ER and doctors and ran a lot of blood tests and took chest xray and knee xray and everything appears to be "normal". She has been dealing with this for about a week and they told her to take motrin and claritin. I don't know what to do. Making an appt. to see rheumatologist as soon as possible. If anyone has any answers please help!
and I am desperately trying to figure out why I continue to break out in hives and have joint pain in my elbows, feet, hands and legs. I too started breaking out in hives after taking the antibotic Solodyn for acne. After a trip to the ER, it was assumed that I had an alergic reaction to the medicine. I stopped taking the medicine after only 3 weeks and needless to say, I am still breaking out in hives and have joint pain. I have been tested for allergies and that was negative.
I do NOT have Hashimoto's but my mother does. Could my hypothyroidism be a precursor to Hashimoto's? Maybe the joint pain is related to that? Thanks for any input!
Accutane commonly causes joint and muscle pain. But it shouldn't cause chest pains. Has the pain stopped since you discontinued the tablets?
Hello, Some of the side effects of Cynomycin(minocycline) are dizziness, nausea, vomiting and stomach upset, hives, blurred vision, blood in stools, headache, joint pain and muscle pain. There are currently four oral contraceptives approved by the FDA for the treatment of acne: Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Estrostep, and Yaz. These are available under prescription. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
Whenever I used to get an infection I allways experienced some level of pain, however at times it turned into a stabbing pain. This usuall came shortly after sneezing, or coughing or just adjusting my position. I had allways thought that it was due to prostatitis. I never was able to ever explain to people around me the sudden pain that I experienced.
The majority of RA patients have chronic infections in their joints, which can cause inflammation, pain and decreased joint mobility. In one study that we published a few years back with the Arthritis Center of Riverside (CA), we found that 45% of RA patients had Mycoplasma infections, and this is one of a few types of infections that can inflame the synovia in the joints. Fortunately, if you have this infection, it can be treated with long-term antibiotics like doxycycline or minocycline.
I am really lost as to what may be wrong with me, and when I searched my symptoms, hypothyroidism is what came up. I am 18 years old, and am suffering from severe joint pains. It is in all of my joints, and makes me feel like I am 80 years old. The pain is worst in the mornings and at night, but subsides during the day.
Within a week I had pain in all joints. It was not always in one joint, moved around a bit. By Sat I was unable to hold a pop can without trouble and opening doors was very painful so I went to the ER and from the blood tests they did they found my strep level was at 200. I followed up with my Dr on Monday and I was put on Penicilin for 20 days and 800 Ibuprofen twice daliy. I am now on 800 Ibuprofen and 50mg of Minocycline twice daily for a undetermined amount of time.
I stayed on this regime for a year, and the symptoms did not return, so the doc tapered me off minocycline. That was four years ago. Now, maybe once a year, a joint will flare up, and when it does, I restart the minocycline for a few months, and so far, the condition has subsided in a most reliable way. This is a non-standard use for an old and pretty safe drug that has anti-inflammatory qualities (in the news lately as a treatment for stroke).
So far this week the only problem to remain is in the joints of my fingers and hands. The rest is only slight pain and not all the time. For the last week I have been waking up with both my hands asleep. When I first had had the joint problem it was mainly my right hand. I thought it was maybe from my joints swelling and such. Is it possible that the meds I am on are the cause of this problem? Could it be a sign of heart trouble? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.
My liver failure happened right before I got diagnosed. Just had the usual jaundice, joint pain, nausea, etc. I was immediately put on prednisone once they found out my counts were around 1500 and had a liver biopsy. I had moderate liver damage but they feel like they caught it soon enough so that the damage wasn't permanent. They got my counts down to 700 in two weeks otherwise I would have been hospitalized.
lupus is when the immune system attacks its tissues, causing inflammation, swelling, pain, and damage. Lupus symptoms vary, and early lupus symptoms include fatigue, joint pain, fever, and a lupus rash, especially after being in the sun. Familiarize yourself with pictures of the lupus rash. Doctors diagnose lupus by symptoms and blood tests. Lupus is not contagious but has a hereditary component. it doesnt sound lie you have Rheumatoid arthritis...
My neck aches on both sides, I have pain at the back of both knees and on the side of the left one, severe joint pain in wrists, hands, fingers, particularly thumb. The pain comes and goes and is horrible at night. I feel achy in the morning, and better through the day until night. When it first hit me, I was severely fatigued for a day or 2, but not really since then. I also had a cough for about a month. Couldn't really figure out why. That is finally beginning to resolve on its own.
Things have calmed down since it all started but I still have a lot of joint and muscle pain. and yes it is symmetrical. Both hips, both hands, both ankles/feet etc. Then I started with really bad shoulder pain ugh.. Couldn't even bend it at all 1 day, of all of this the worse is fatigue, sometimes it's so bad I sleep all day and can barely get anything done . Anyways.. in the mean time he put me on mobic which does help the joint pain. If my x-rays show up normal...
I have been feeling pretty badly for 2 months, and this last weeks has been truly horrible with severe joint pain and fever. Today is the first day I have felt semi-normal in a long time. I hope you are doing okay. It is not easy news to receive. Even though it is treatable, it is also life altering......
I have had a problem with acne most of my life from teenager to adult, I went to derm that prescribed Minocycline and not even a month after taking it had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis shock) from that point on I never returned to feeling normal healthy this happened 11-10-07.
I have been looking for an answer for about a year, slowly losing muscle strength, eye problems, joint pain and cracking, tingling, muscle twitches...the works. I have been on anti-biotics for 2 weeks tomorrow doxycycline @200mg oral. I am wondering if IV anti-biotics would be a better way to go. Im 22 years old and a new proud father of a 3 month old girl. Sawyer Grace . Im looking for any information or for anyone willing to talk to me about this issue.
Sore throat, cough, stuffy nose, swollen glands in my throat (especially), groin, and under my arm, general fatigue, joint pain, sweating, the whole nine....these feelings seemed to come and go; I'd feel fine for an hour, then bad again. I'm currently prescribed Bactrim for urethritis (have had it before) and Omnicef for this sickness (Doctor determined I had an ear infection), but was also prescribed Cipro & Minocycline weeks ago to get rid of any possible bacterial STD's.
He also wonders if you live in an area plagued with several tick diseases, such as ehrlichia (caused by rickettsial bacteria). Any joint pain and or swelling?
More serious side effects are rare and include muscle and joint pain, changes to the hair or nails and depression. The statistical chances of each side effect occuring are listed inside the accutane leaflet eg 1 in 100 patients or 1 in 1000 patients. I have taken accutane twice if you want to talk about it. If you are considering laser treatment go to a reputable clinic. The most widely used treatments are N-Lite, White Light and Blue light.
Many have no backlash side effects and that's great, but for others sometimes things start going down-hill and sometimes this is when side effects decide to emerge that would traditionally emerge during treatment (e.g. joint pain, flushing, redness, rosacea, depression, chronic fatigue, Seb derm, hair loss.. even teeth breaking). I don't mean to scare you but this appears to happen too often (see acne.org).
*throat/ear pain *shortness of breath *chest pain *chills *joint pain *weak muscles *eye pain *frequent headaches *hot flashes *burning skin *lightheaded * fast heart rate * constipation and diarrhea *stomach problems... i got a fever only once and it was 104 Well, there is much more symptoms than that, but this can sum it up. I have not been tested for lyme yet, and I know the test is not accurate.
) As of 2 days after the encounter, my lymph nodes are very swollen in my left groin, and some on my right, as well. Also, pain in my joints, back, and legs/thighs. This has happened to me before after an unprotected encounter, but urethritis was deemed the culprit. (Tested negative for all STD's (including HIV/HSV2) 3 months later.) 2.) I have a sore throat, headache in my forehead and pain around my eyes, general feeling of fatigue, cough/phlegm.
I have worse nausea than usual and my joints are very stiff and painful, there is a lot of pressure and feelings of heat in my head, my thinking is muddled, my face is tingling and periodically flushing, my back aches from sitting for just a moment, I have pain down my legs when I walk, and my legs feels like they are made of lead. Well, I could go on. It's stuff I usually have, it just feels like it is all on the "high" setting.
I am halfway through my first day of steroid and on my third day of minocycline. I feel bad and then I feel good. I'm right that steroids suppress the immune system and mess with your Lyme's right? Concerned!!!!!
Flu symptoms, swollen glands, severe fatigue, severe bone and joint pain, muscle spasms along with some organ inflammation. Has anyone experienced fluctuating symptoms like this? I appreciate any information you could give me to help me get an idea if this is normal or I need more testing or medication.
Recent IgeneX WB only positive at band 41, so another negative test. Started a low dose of minocycline and do believe I have had a moderate herx reaction. I see the doctor again next month and am awaiting PCR tests on 4 different strains od Borrelia, including lonestari. I was bit in North Carolina, so lonestari is a good possibility and would be why my tests to burgdorferi are negative. PCR has a very low yeild, though, so I am not expecting much. My CD57 is fairly low at 60.
I also have Lyme with neurological involvement as evidenced by MRI. I have been treating for just under 2 years and am much improved, but can still suffer set backs and flares. I can only speak from personal experience, but when my body is under any extra stress (such as from a common cold), my Lyme symptoms do flare. It makes sense to me in that a cold will trigger an extra immune response, and so that will also affect any low lying chronic infections.
