Avatar m tn Hello, Fusidic acid and minocycline are both antibiotics which are used for the treatment of acne. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn I think you should check with your dermatologist both about the duration of minocycline and the choice of cream. At the end of the day, you should be completely clear, though. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn The brand you were using is known to clear hormonal acne around the mouth, as will Diane35. I have acne and peri-oral dermatitis and use Diane35 (called Dianette in the UK) oxytetracycline and Differin gel.
Avatar m tn s cardiologist told her that long term use of minocycline or any of the antibiotics of the cycline family will burn the valves in your legs that control the flow of blood back and forth. Instead of a one way street for your blood to flow down from your artery in your leg and back up through your veins it now becomes a two way street because your valve isn't working. The problem is she has to keep taking it for chronic Lyme disease.
398059 tn?1447945633 I sounds good. according to the the report the lesions in the brain are similar as before and even less prominent. But, the parts I question are the results in the cervical spinal cord. I it says: similar foci of increased signal intensity on T2-weighted images are present within the cervical spinal cord. These are extensively distributed, but appear most prominent on the left in the C1 to C3 region. There is more but too much to type.
Avatar f tn m sorry you are continuing to worry about the possibility of infection. The minocycline you are taking for acne would have reduced your risk for infection if you were taking it at the time of exposure. As far as treatment is concerned, minocycline can cure chlamydia but the dose you are taking is a bit lower than what might be recommended for chlamydial infection. Nonetheless, if you were infected and tool the drug for a month as you have, I would expect it to cure chlamydia.
Avatar n tn I have had the same problem, I was taking 100mg of minocycline twice daily for 3 years. I started noticing that my bruises were staying longer than normal and when I brought it up to my doctor he dismissed it and didn't even question that it could be the minocycline (the only medicine I was on at the time). About 6 months later I did some research and I taught my doctor about the side effect which he claimed he had never heard of!
Avatar f tn Minocycline is one of the listed drugs that cause vitamin B12 malabsorption. Minocycline also has anti-thyroid effects. Long term treatment with minocycline (at least 100 mg/day) can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin, nails, bones, thyroid, teeth, palate, eye, heart valves. Thyroid cancer is frequently found with black thyroid syndrome (macroscopic black discolouration of the thyroid gland).
Avatar m tn ive been taking this for 15 months now without doctor s prescription. it works well to prevent the acne growth in my back , face and head.
Avatar m tn An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn by means of counting the total number of acne lesions and also by rating acne severity on a standardized index. The results showed that tea tree oil gel was significantly more effective than placebo at reducing both the number of acne lesions and their severity. Niacinamide In a double-blind trial, 76 individuals with moderately severe acne were treated with either 4% niacinamide gel or 1% clindamycin gel (a standard antibiotic treatment).

Avatar f tn Hello, Perioral dermatitis like acne is a chronic papulopustular and eczematous facial dermatitis. It mostly effects women and appear around the nose, mouth and eyes. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. Doxycycline is the preferred antibiotic for perioral dermatitis but minocycline can also be used.

Avatar n tn Since my episode, I have taken 45 doses of 100 mg Minocycline in connection with my treatment for acne. I have read that taking antibiotics can affect syphilis test results. If I test for syphilis, will my minocycline medication lead to an inaccurate result? Furthermore, would the minocycline eradicate the syphilis from my body?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
Avatar f tn Is there a way to releive the yeast infection while on the antibiotics, or am I forced to stop acne treatment? I should mention I live in a remote town with no MD, I only get to see him once a year. Also, he gave me 3 months worth of treatment - After this cycle can I stop taking it? Or is this a life long thing? I don't want to live this way.
Avatar n tn If what I have is folliculitis and not acne, is the treatment different? Ive heard you talk about Hibiclens, could this help my face? Ive also thought about taking Zinc. I just need advice and I don't believe minocycline or differin is going to do the trick, I need something different because at age 26 I don't think I am dealing with a typical case of acne or whatever. I don't know any other guys my age with this problem.

Avatar f tn recently I was put on Minocycline for my chronic forehead and shoulder acne, and I was all for the idea of clear skin, whether I had to take pills or not. ever since, slowly but surely, my anxiety is making a reappearance, along with my depression, both of which I thought were long gone. I am unable to function properly at school, ride in the car, watch TV, or even sit on the couch doing nothing without having anxious thoughts running through my mind!
280418 tn?1306325910 t know in what cases it would not -- perhaps in very resistant cases. I would pursue oral first just because of the risks of PICC line infections. I read something the other day that there have an increasing number of problems with them in recent years, but don't know why exactly -- I'm not sure the drs know.
