minocycline for sore throat

I have not had any fever or noticed any enlargement of my lymph nodes. I did have a sore throat for a couple days recently, but that passed. Is a genital ulcer and swelling alone a common symptom of HIV?

I have a Friend in Canada who has been on Minocycline for her RA for years and says she could not function without it,I asked my Doctor to prescribe this for me but he says it's not proven to be effective so wouldn't give me it !!! I have read that it IS effective not as a cure but by killing the bacteria that may be causing the RA symptoms. I am totally convinced it was the MRSA infection that caused my RA in the first place as I was absolutely fine before that happened ....

From what I can recall, I haven't done anything different. But here's one thing to note. I've been basically living off antibiotics since I was a baby. I've always had chronic sore throat pain which required me to be on antibiotics. I would get sore throat about twice a year at the minimum until I was about 22 years old (3 years ago). Since I started taking Vitamin C supplements in form of orange juice, etc, haven't had my 'chronic' sore throat since.

I recently had strep throat but since my throat was not sore it was not treated and then went to strep reactive artritis. This all started with pain in my ankles and knees. Within a week I had pain in all joints. It was not always in one joint, moved around a bit. By Sat I was unable to hold a pop can without trouble and opening doors was very painful so I went to the ER and from the blood tests they did they found my strep level was at 200.

Oh! And it has also been accompanied by a chronic sore throat that came out of nowhere as well. I haven't had any sinus stuff happening, so I know it's not a cold coming on.

There is no reason for concern, no reason for testing, no reason to abstain from unprotected sex with your regular partner related to the activities you describe. There is also no reason to continue to take the minocycline. I hope this comment is helpful.

Hi - Minocycline may give you a false negative on an STD test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. (Any antibiotic would.) Depending on the dose, it may cure gonorrhea, though there is some resistance to it now with certain strains of gonorrhea. It MAY prevent you from getting it, but the studies done that showed it would are quite old, and were done before resistance. All that said, oral sex is lower risk, even for men who have sex with men.

My LLMD added minocycline with the Bicillin LA I have been taking for months. During the week or two on minoccycline, had major problems with dizziness and painful toes. Now I am taking azithromax and tindimax, along with the 2.4 mu of Bicillin LA two shots a week. Have felt bad, feet tingling and anxiety back badly, especially around 8 a.m. Also feel spacey and get headaches. As some of you know, I have lost a lot of body fat during the last two years, and it is still getting worse.

Three months later I went and got tested on December 10th and came out negative. It is now January 18th and I am now seeing symptoms of sore throat, oral thrush, diarrhea, on and off fever and swollen neck lymph nodes. I am scheduled for another test on the 21st of January. Hi and so sorry you have this problem. Do you have pus in your throat and/o a high fever? There is an anaerobic (grows without oxygen) bacteria that can be in your throat normally or can cause chronic sore throat. It is called Fusobacterium necrophorum. It isn't always seen in the throat and the regular antibiotics wouldn't work on it You may need metronidazole. That is if you are not allergic to it.

Did the doctor do a throat culture for strep? A quick swab to the back of the throat for a rapid strep test could give you the answer to your discomfort. Whatever is causing your discomfort, it does not sound like it is going to go away on its own. You are going to need the treatment of a doctor. Sorry not the answer you wanted.
