Avatar n tn Hi. I have been on minocycline since I was 21 (now 29) for acne. I recently went to a new family practice Dr. While I was there he noticed I was on mino and asked how long I'd been taking it. I told him my acne treatment history. He pointed out that my shines were green (look like bruises). He asked how long I'd had those "bruises". I replyed that they'd been there longer then normal. Months maybe.

Avatar f tn I get the exact same thing and I'm trying to research it. I've gotten them for about 8 years now. They range from little pimples to large ones and some are like blind pimples. They are very painful and they come and go. I found that it helps to use an oil free shampoo/conditioner or shampoo for oily hair, even tho I don't always have oily hair. I am getting really frustrated because no Dr. has been able to give me a good diagnoses or treatment. One Dr.
Avatar f tn In some cases, there is a need to treat the underlying cause for resolution of the hair loss. Take care always.
494623 tn?1278279352 I have a Friend in Canada who has been on Minocycline for her RA for years and says she could not function without it,I asked my Doctor to prescribe this for me but he says it's not proven to be effective so wouldn't give me it !!! I have read that it IS effective not as a cure but by killing the bacteria that may be causing the RA symptoms. I am totally convinced it was the MRSA infection that caused my RA in the first place as I was absolutely fine before that happened ....
Avatar n tn If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss. Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am 18 years old, and have been having issues with hair loss. It all began about 2 years ago when I initially switched up my diet and lost weight quite rapidly. I lost my period for about 6 months and my hair shed. I had blood work done then, and no irregularities were present. My hair loss eventually subsidized (although my hair never fully grew back), and my period returned. However, in June I missed my period, and my hair loss returned.
Avatar f tn Minocycline is one of the listed drugs that cause vitamin B12 malabsorption. Minocycline also has anti-thyroid effects. Long term treatment with minocycline (at least 100 mg/day) can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin, nails, bones, thyroid, teeth, palate, eye, heart valves. Thyroid cancer is frequently found with black thyroid syndrome (macroscopic black discolouration of the thyroid gland).
Avatar f tn It's great news that you are doing well on your treatment! I don't recall anyone posting here about minocycline, but then my memory's not what it used to be, ha. Also not familiar with the Sunnybrook test -- Sorry not to be more useful! Hope you continue to improve. PS If you're up for some heavy reading, you might try the ilads [dot] org website, the 'about lyme' tab, and read Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines.

Avatar f tn I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Avatar f tn Stress is a huge reason for hair loss on anyone. My mom experienced hair loss while undergoing treatments. I have experienced hair loss for stress, medications for migraines (seizure meds for prevention will do it every time). Also my doctor put me on a great prenatal vitamin that helped with my hair loss and I started to have new growth. Soak with your doctor and see what he recommends. Could be a simple imbalance due to stress in itself or the cancer side effects.
