Avatar n tn I have also been on antibiotics for almost two years for ocular rosacea and blepharitis. First Tetracycline, then Doxycycline and finally, for the last 10 months, minocycline which I know can in rare cases cause some type of liver toxicity. I have stopped the antibiotics and hope that clears up the problem. When or how long should I wait to start to be concerned? Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn 1 % ointment turns out to be an excellent therapeutic option for treatment of severe atopic blepharitis. Long-term efficacy and safety have to be evaluated in long-term follow-up studies.
Avatar m tn 1% for blepharitis aka Topical FK 506 Ointment 0.1%. I have blepharitis many years and used many treatments most short lived and then back on the rollercoaser with red eyes + inflamed lids crusting etc .
Avatar m tn Antibiotics is not the main treatment for blepharitis. They are used as an initial treatment with lid hygiene and warm compresses. My antibiotic of choice for this is Azasite which is rubbed into the lashes for about a week. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn tea tree wipes are generally unnecessary for blepharitis unless it is due to Demodix which is rather unusual.
Avatar f tn My chief problem is blurred vision in my right eye, it use to come and go but for the last year it has been constant, some days seem to be better than others. At a recent visit to my doctors office she informed me that the blurred vision was caused by protein deposits on my eye. Is there anyway to get rid of the protein deposits or to minimize the severity of blurriness that I have in the vision in my right eye? Please let me know if there is anything that I can do.
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever successfully used antibiotics (minocycline, etc.) for Psoriatic Arthritis? Please share.
494623 tn?1278279352 I have a Friend in Canada who has been on Minocycline for her RA for years and says she could not function without it,I asked my Doctor to prescribe this for me but he says it's not proven to be effective so wouldn't give me it !!! I have read that it IS effective not as a cure but by killing the bacteria that may be causing the RA symptoms. I am totally convinced it was the MRSA infection that caused my RA in the first place as I was absolutely fine before that happened ....
Avatar m tn Well it turns out the Taiwanese eye doctor here does not think I have Blepharitis. Two of them said that. However, he also denied that there's no cure for it too, which I can't believe since ALL websites online say that there's no cure for Blepharitis and that it's chronic. So I am in doubt about the competence of doctors here. However, my symptoms fit it to a T.
Avatar n tn I was also diagnosed with Blepharitis 4 days ago by an ophtalmologist and asked if Blepharitis and uneven pupil sizes were linked and he said "not at all". I read on the internet that uneven pupil size may be a serious condition due to underlying causes, which sort of doctor should I see for this?
Avatar f tn Minocycline is one of the listed drugs that cause vitamin B12 malabsorption. Minocycline also has anti-thyroid effects. Long term treatment with minocycline (at least 100 mg/day) can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin, nails, bones, thyroid, teeth, palate, eye, heart valves. Thyroid cancer is frequently found with black thyroid syndrome (macroscopic black discolouration of the thyroid gland).
Avatar n tn I think you have blepharitis, as I have that same feeling upon waking, and I have been diagnosed with it. Just google blepharitis, and you can learn all the wonderful facts. Once in a while I develop a chalazion due to the blepharitis. Even though I use exceptional eye hygiene, use an antibacterial eye ointment, consume lots of flaxseed (recommended by my Dr. and good for everyone anyway) and use hot compresses regularly, I still average one a year.
Avatar n tn Usually but it takes time.
Avatar n tn I have Blepharitis, the only time my eyelids aren't red is for a while after I do the hot compresses, why is this? What can I do to keep them like this besides doing warm compresses every 30 minutes? I have seen specialists and opthmal.
Avatar n tn I have blepharitis and hashimotos and my eyelashes fall out but seem to grow back. They grow weird though and some of them come in white. It is so frustrating because I am not exactly sure why it happens if it's the thyroid or blepharitis. Anyone know? I am not hypothyroid so I don't know if hypo makes it happen or hashimotos or blepharitis.
Avatar n tn The eye Dr. told me I had a little blepharitis and to me it's a lot. My eyelashes are affected and I am cleaning them daily really no more crusting. My question is what is all the white stuff in the eye? I am using the drops helps a little but I can't seem to get all the white stuff to be gone. By the way, he never told me what kind of Bleph I have. After reading all this stuff here there is more than one kind.
Avatar m tn I've tried all the "remedies" for controlling Blepharitis, but so far nothing has worked. My left eye lid is the worse. Have there been any new drops or pills I might try. I tried Azaasite, but it made my eyes red and very dry. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with posterior Blepharitis about a year ago. It started with chronic red eyes that at first was mistaken for pink eye. It also started in my left eye only. The initial diagnosis was holes in my cornea. We got that fixed and then the redness comes back a few weeks later in both eyes along with a feeling like something was in my eyes. I have done numerous eye drops, eye ointments, eye scrubs, eye compresses and there is no improvement.
Avatar f tn It's great news that you are doing well on your treatment! I don't recall anyone posting here about minocycline, but then my memory's not what it used to be, ha. Also not familiar with the Sunnybrook test -- Sorry not to be more useful! Hope you continue to improve. PS If you're up for some heavy reading, you might try the ilads [dot] org website, the 'about lyme' tab, and read Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines.
Avatar n tn THE THING for blepharitis control (not cure-its a chronic disease) is TheraTears SteriLid eyelid cleaner available over the counter. Also use the search, archives and health topic features here to read the many references to blepharitis.
Avatar m tn I took minocycline with rifampin for my Bart's. I had no problems with it.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
