Avatar m tn The high lipid solubility of minocycline may cause vestibular [ear] side effects, limiting the administration of minocycline to 100 mg twice daily rather than 200 mg twice daily. Because of this, doxycycline (400 mg daily) remains the preferred antibiotic for treatment of Lyme neuroborreliosis. For patients for whom treatment fails, minocycline may be a therapeutic option [footnote omitted].
Avatar m tn what are the side effects of prolonged intake of minolox 50 mg. ive been taking this for 15 months now without doctor s prescription. it works well to prevent the acne growth in my back , face and head.
Avatar f tn A large double-blind trial (332 participants) compared 30 mg daily of zinc against a tetracycline-family medication often used for acne (minocycline at 100 mg daily). The results showed minocycline is more effective than zinc. Tetracycline taken at a dose of 250 mg daily, appears to be no more effective than zinc, but when taken at 500 mg daily it seems to be considerably more effective.
Avatar n tn I was with a potential sexual partner and panicked. I discovered a bottle of Minocycline 100 MG tablets. I took two pills Saturday and Sunday, one on Monday and Tuesday. The symptoms discharge and painful urination are gone. I am now back in the city with access to health facilities. Should I go and be tested ? Should I continue the Minocycline ? I have a( 25) 100 MG left. HELP. I am really nervous.
Avatar f tn I currently take 150 mcg of generic synthroid. I asked Dr for Armour. She gave me a script for 90 mg and instructed me to take one tablet a day. I haven't picked it up yet but this seems odd based on what I have read about this medication. I'm concerned I might turn my life upside down if Its dosed wrong. Any suggestions? Should I take a half of it twice a day? Thanks...
Avatar n tn I was put on solodyn (long acting minocycline) for a few bumps I had under my armpit that looked like acne. Nothing major. I was on 65 mg a day. After about 4 weeks I was noticing my teeth looked a little gray. I assumed it was from the red wine I was drinking. After 6 weeks I noticed my hair was a little thinner so I stopped the drug. The red bumps were gone after 2 weeks but I was told to continue the medicine to make sure it doesn't come back.
948349 tn?1294380237 I was literally taking minocycline 3 days after being infected 200 mg a day. I am still taking 100 mg twice a day to this point. One month in I started banderol/samento which helped. I cranked up to 30 drops of each twice per day. Then 2 months in I'm now taking minocycline + rifampin. This helped so much for the Bartonella like symptoms. Now I am switching to minocycline + bactrim DS + Tinidazole Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat this early on?
Avatar f tn Have recently dropped back to single minocycline/day (100 mg) but believe cysts may already be redeveloping. I am reluctant to go back to the heavier antibiotic dosage but that may be necessary to avoid the extremely large cysts that were removed 2 yrs ago. Question: is there a way to reduce or remove the large scale blackening of my skin, and is this a common side effect of long term antibiotics, such as minocycline or levaquin?
Avatar n tn When I first started Diltiazem I had a powerful throbbing headache for a few weeks. It gradually tapered off. I was a bit tired too. After I'd been on it for a few months my BP would have low times (systolic in the 90's). I was a slug when my bp dropped that low. But thank goodness it wasn't that low all the time. It sure helped with the tachy times and chest pain though.
Avatar m tn Problem started while I was taking minocycline for acne. Went in to student health. NP RXed 10 days doxycycline, 100 mg PO BID, sent me to ER. Had an ultrasound, confirmed it was epididymitis plus a hydrocele. They gave me a shot of ceftriaxone and told me to continue with the doxycycline. The ceftriaxone helped a great deal (swelling went down almost immediately) but as I continued the course of doxy the problem began to get worse again. I followed up with a urologist.
Avatar n tn This did not clear it up at all but seemed to keep it somewhat under control, however I was also using a steroid cream every so often as well. Now that I am not breastfeeding anymore I have been given a 90 day prescription for Gen Minocycline. I have been taking 2/day now for about 5 days and have completely stopped using the cream or any other cortisone cream. My rash seem so be so much worse now that it has EVER been and I even have some now on my chin!!!
Avatar f tn I would pretreat with 2 weeks of minocycline and then go with 2 weeks of Lefamulin followed by 2 more weeks of minocycline.
Avatar m tn if you finally get a positive, the FDA just approve Lefamulin, which has high activity against MG in vitro. If you’ve failed Moxifloxacin, I’d push for a minocycline/Lefamulin combo. It seriously is the only bit of hope that has come along in many years.
Avatar f tn So quick background: Ever since I sucked on my lips while concentrating last August I've had problems. For months it was just little zit looking things on my lipline with redness and flakes, only one to three at a time. After unsuccessful visits to urgent care, a 10 day cycle of anti biotics that didn't work, I was somewhat able to manage it. Then one Saturday morning I got sunburnt on my face. The next day the bumps were back.
Avatar n tn I had a sudden episode of 'going over the edge' vertigo while driving. It 'froze' me...as the road seemed to 'flip' and I felt I was going 'off rhe edge'. I stopped suddenly, and was just shaking in cold fear. A CHP officer (luckily) came along the off-ramp, and helped me. He moved my car, and had me taken to the nearby hospital in Sacramento. After all the usual 'scans' etc. were done, no one could find anything "wrong'.
Avatar m tn Yes 90 sometimes more it's only in morning when I get sick .

Avatar f tn Hi, when my dermatologist increased my dosage to 100 mg a day i started getting really sick. Chronic headaches, mostly concentrated behind my eyes which can't break no matter what I take (Ive been prescribed 800mg of ibuprofen, 800mg of naproxen, 15mg of promethazine, 4mg of zofran, and 5mg of prednisone, Ive even tried excedrin, NOTHING HAS WORKED), nausea so bad I sit in the bathroom half the day vomiting, ringing in my ears and dizziness so bad I can't stand up.
