Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with rosacea by three docs and been given three different topical creams. None worked at all and one was about $100 per small bottle! I seem to always be red across the nose and cheeks and it seems to be getting worse each year and I am beginning to notice some on chin and between eyebrows. I really havent been able to pinpoint triggers but have always blushed easily and have always gotten really red faced during exercise. Playing on tennis and basketball teams in H.S.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a steriod induced rosacea, my question is this, will there be continual break outs while on treatment? I've been on treatment for a little over 2 weeks and it seems as if my face is getting bad again. It has not completly cleared up but is about 75% better then what it was before I was diagnosed. I am no longer on the steroid, off for 2 weeks now but am having "acne" if you will, breaking out still.
Avatar n tn Tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are the most common antibiotics used to treat rosacea. Some people respond quickly, while others require long-term therapy. Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea. Electrosurgery and laser surgery may be options to treat redness, enlarged blood vessels, and rhinophyma. In some patients, laser surgery may result in improved skin appearance with little scarring or damage.
Avatar n tn ve probably got steroid induced Rosacea. I am currently taking erythromycin antibiotic tablets to help with the inflammation. Can anyone please suggest anything else that may help me? Should I have weened myself off the steroid cream gradually?
Avatar n tn I have also been on antibiotics for almost two years for ocular rosacea and blepharitis. First Tetracycline, then Doxycycline and finally, for the last 10 months, minocycline which I know can in rare cases cause some type of liver toxicity. I have stopped the antibiotics and hope that clears up the problem. When or how long should I wait to start to be concerned? Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn Hello Peter, It usually helps us if you have a question or want to share a potential risk. Please see a physician for the correct dosage and correct diagnosis.
Avatar f tn In general, rosacea can appear on chests. Have you ever had rosacea flare on your face and/or chest before?
Avatar n tn Steroids aggravate perioral dermatitis, but the condition usually comes for no cause. If you go back on Minocycline or some similar antibiotic, you should clear up in a month. That should clear you up within a month. No need to go back on the pill. Also no need for chronic oral therapy. If the condition comes back at all, it probably won;t do so for years. Take care. Dr.
Avatar f tn It is recommended that you follow the prescription dosage and time your doctor made to avoid any resistance to your present antibiotic. I also strongly advise that you have these sores evaluated by your doctor and to let him drain them properly. Try to avoid popping them yourself. MRSA bacteria enter the body through a cut or other wound. And the pus from infected sores may contain MRSA. It is important that you wash your hands and avoid sharing personal items. Keep wounds covered.
Avatar f tn Hi, when my dermatologist increased my dosage to 100 mg a day i started getting really sick. Chronic headaches, mostly concentrated behind my eyes which can't break no matter what I take (Ive been prescribed 800mg of ibuprofen, 800mg of naproxen, 15mg of promethazine, 4mg of zofran, and 5mg of prednisone, Ive even tried excedrin, NOTHING HAS WORKED), nausea so bad I sit in the bathroom half the day vomiting, ringing in my ears and dizziness so bad I can't stand up.
737143 tn?1232824698 Went to an LLMD in September who put me on Samento then after 6 weeks ie from October 21st I started using Minocycline 1tab every other day then after a week I had to increase my dosage to 2 tab every other day. Since 2 days I had severe itching and when I scratch it is turning into rash. The itching starts midnight which is causing me to wake up. I have the itching in by back, my joints. Did any experienced this.
Avatar f tn We decided to use a topical cream, for the more oily areas on my face, and for me to take a 100mg dosage of Apo-Minocycline two times a day (morning and night). This worked fantastic for a few months. Eventually, I developed this odd rash on one side of my neck. The skin was very red and dry, somewhat scaly/bumpy, a bit raised, uneven + about the size/shape of my thumb. It kind of itched/hurt as well. I wasn't sure if it was connected to my skincare or not, so I continued with my routine.
Avatar m tn Perhaps they suspect acne rosacea. Perhaps you have chronic lid margin disease. You should be checked for demodex follicularis mites in the lash follicles. You could just have chronic allergies and need to take patenol longer and use oral antihistamine as well. Dry eyes could be involved. Oral flax and fish oil may help. Maybe you didn't take the doxy long enough - perhaps minocycline very low dose with food might be easier on you.
1554921 tn?1294370388 Hello, From the symptoms it looks like rosacea. The exact cause of rosacea is not known. The basic process seems to involve dilation of the small blood vessels of the face. It can be due to genetic causes, hormonal problems, the bacteria Helicobacter pylori (that is associated with stomach ulcers), gastrointestinal disease, and medications that cause blood vessels to widen. Treatment options vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment.
Avatar f tn Rosacea is a common but poorly understood long-term (chronic) skin condition that mainly affects the face. Symptoms begin with episodes of flushing (when the skin turns red). As rosacea progresses, other symptoms can develop such as: •burning and stinging sensations •permanent redness •spots (papules and pustules) •small blood vessels in the skin becoming visible In the most severe cases, skin can thicken and enlarge, usually on and around the nose.
Avatar n tn I would like to know what the suggested dosage would be. Also, I was wondering if anyone ever tried acupuncture with any success. I would appreciate any advice.
Avatar m tn route. Specifically I was prescribed Minocycline 100mg, 14 caps. And a topical Mupirocin 2%. My dermatologist was sckeptical of the antibiotic route and also prescribed Finacea, for a Rosacea condition. I am unpleased to anounce that neither the posting above solution neither both of the specific prescriptions helped me. The only response I got was from the oral antibiotic for the first week of the two and that reduced te redness by about 30%.
Avatar n tn Bilateral (almost symmetric) discrete erythema (redness), accompanied with dryness and papules (small “bumps”) in perioral and perinasal region is most likely Periorificial dermatitis. Potential differential diagnoses include Acne rosacea, Seborrhoic dermatitis, Contact dermatitis, Lip-licking dermatitis, etc. The main thing to know about Periorificial (perioral) dermatitis is that it can be caused, and is always aggravated, by the use of topical corticosteroids.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, I have had Rosacea for a number of years. I don't know what Type it is but it is red pimples on my cheeks, occasional white heads but these are rare, and nose and Telangiectasia on my chin. I have been treated with Topical Finacea 15%. It has helped for a long time. But lately I am getting a lot more small pimples and peeling skin. I put Cetaphil Eczema calming cream on my face before putting on the Finacea and that has helped with the redness. But my skin still has been peeling.
