I told him my acne treatment history. He pointed out that my shines were green (look like bruises). He asked how long I'd had those "bruises". I replyed that they'd been there longer then normal. I was diagnosed with CRP in 2007 but had it since about 1998. I was told by doctors that is was dry skin or Tinea Versicolor. They treated me for dry skin or Tinea Versicolor; treatment didn't work so I just stop going to the doctor for it.
Finally in 2007, my gynecologist saw it. She asked me what it was and if I was being treated for it. I told her no and she referred me to the Dermatologist.
One look and he suspected to be CRP.
I have been on Minocycline for coming up 9 years now and i'm currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.
is there a way to reduce or remove the large scale blackening of my skin, and is this a common side effect of long term antibiotics, such as minocycline or levaquin? Is there a better oral antibiotic (than minocycline) for trteating staphaureas? Should I accept this discoloration?
We decided to use a topical cream, for the more oily areas on my face, and for me to take a 100mg dosage of Apo-Minocycline two times a day (morning and night). This worked fantastic for a few months. Eventually, I developed this odd rash on one side of my neck. The skin was very red and dry, somewhat scaly/bumpy, a bit raised, uneven + about the size/shape of my thumb. It kind of itched/hurt as well. I wasn't sure if it was connected to my skincare or not, so I continued with my routine.
The only meds I am on now are Allegra, Zantac and just ending a four week round of Minocycline. If this is possibly from Minocycline, how long does it take for a drug induced rash to go away?
I notice that you have suggested oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to combat perioral dermatitis. I've been suffering from this condition for about 2 years. I was pregnant when I was diagnosed with it and my doctor was only comfortable prescribing a topical antibiotic. This did very little to help the condition.
Hi Can anyone, please give me any advice, Ive been taking minocycline tablets for 5 months and have just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant the last few days I increased the dose to 200mg as my skin was terrible. I am now worried sick that I have caused fetal damage to my nuborn baby.

He seemed to think it was a type of acne and has given me minocycline. If I do have KP or chicken skin is this an effective medication? The bumps are very hard to squeeze and if they are squeezable a very small amount of white stuff comes out. which resembles a fine string.
Any ideas? Diagnosis?
I have been on Zoloft for about 7 months now, after dealing with crippling anxiety and depression. this medicine really worked wonders! recently I was put on Minocycline for my chronic forehead and shoulder acne, and I was all for the idea of clear skin, whether I had to take pills or not. ever since, slowly but surely, my anxiety is making a reappearance, along with my depression, both of which I thought were long gone.
For 3 weeks I never thought that the Minocycline had anything to do with what was happening to me. I was so desperate for my skin to clear up that it had never even occurred to me that I was severely allergic to the Minocycline. Until, I went to stay with my mom for the weekend because the depression was too much for me to handle. I needed to see her. I expalined everything and she saw my skin and how badly I was itching.
I have seen 3 different dermatologists and have tried Minocycline, Erithromicine, and now bactrim. Also, I have tried applying retin-a, tazarac, Clindagel, and Benzaclin.
The bactrim alone seems to keep the problem at bay when I initially use it but then it seems as thought the potency wears off and the problem returns.
I have also tried hormone replacement therapy to the tune of $1,100/month, changing my diet and every over the counter product you can buy at a dug store.
That is when I saw a dermatologist, they prescribed minocycline and before the bottle was done, it was COMPLETELY gone. everything was gone and I did not have any signs that it was ever there. The only downside is that sadly about two months later it is back... and I am back on treatment. anyone in the same boat?
s one of those situations where I really would need to see it in person. Sometimes it can be from an worsened staph infection of the skin which may respond to proper antiobiotics. Sometimes it is an allergic reaction to the antiobiotics and responds to stopping the antibiotics and using steroids. Sometimes it can be both and requires a different antibiotic for a while then steroids for a while.
The only potential thing I’ve notices is that while “pulling apart” my urethra to look inside there seems to be a “patch” of the inner skin that is a slightly lighter color. But I don’t know if that is from the previous infection or if it’s really anything. It may have been there before and I didn’t notice. There are no other signs on the skin.
The dr did give me an rx for a 10-day course of Minocycline (sp?) in case the Bactrim did not work and I have chlamydia.
Eating hot foods or entering a room temperature building after walking outside in the cold also triggers the persistent itching, without any visible signs of rash or changes to the skin. The itching is often followed by a quick chill and usually dissipates after I start to sweat. I have tried topical corticosteroid ointments in select areas of the body in which itching is more prominent but there has been no change. Daily moisturization of the entire body does not help much either.
Hi everyone! I'm hoping to get some advice on a skin problem I've been having. I'm a 25 year old female and about 4 years ago I started really exercising for the first time. As soon as I started working out, my skin began breaking out with large, cystic, painful pimples that would appear anywhere from a few hours to a couple days after exercise. I went to two different dermatologists and both prescribed regular acne medications (topicals and minocycline) which did not help.
I am on minocycline and it says some stuff about peoples skin being itchy but not very much about scalp itching. It is mostly on the back of my head. I dont know if it is lice or anything else. It is really annoying. Any help?
I have had this skin irritation for a while. At first i thought it was acne but it hasn't gone away. It seems to get really dry and stings a little when I try to get rid of the dry skin. Please help!!
