He seemed to think it was a type of acne and has given me minocycline. If I do have KP or chicken skin is this an effective medication? The bumps are very hard to squeeze and if they are squeezable a very small amount of white stuff comes out. which resembles a fine string.
Any ideas? Diagnosis?
Hence, it is advisable that if you re using tretinoin ,you need to use sunscreen protection in and out of the house .Tretinoin helps delay sun damage however, it has been shown to be less effective in reverting already damaged skin or severely sun damaged skin. Thus, you may discuss this with your physician.

I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
t really understand what the connection was, but I wanted to know if I could trust my HIV test results even though I am on Minocycline, and was for months before, during, and after my HIV test.
Also, just to ease my mind, is there ANYTHING else that could effect the validity of an HIV test (aspirin, menstrual cycle, diet, anything)?

I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate.

The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again?
I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus.

3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.1% i was on and minocycline 100 mg daily to 40 mg a day oracea for only redness and not pimples would help ?seems like it would make it worse..please explain...
My doctor prescribed me minocycline and I started taking it for about four days and then found out I was pregnant. I have stopped taking it since, but now I've read some of the birth defects that it causes and I'm really scared. I'm only about 5 weeks and was just wondering if someone could give some more in depth info on the possibilities of something happening to my baby. I was taking 100mg twice a day.
Doctors were unable to diagnose me until I was 17. I take minocycline and I use a Tretinoin topical cream. I do not do too well with the Minocycline because it makes me sick, but the Tretinoin cream works wonders! When I first got diagnosed and they prescribed it to me I started using the cream by itself and my spots were gone within a week or two. And it stayed away for a little over 3 years.
Be sure that you apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 when staying outdoors when using tretinoin. Do not pick on the red spots and try to observe if these spots appear to worsen with tretinoin use. If itching and scaling over the areas occur , then you may need to have this assessed by your physician prescriber.
Other differentials will be skin tags. Flat warts may be treated with cryotherapy or tretinoin. You may discuss this with your dermatologist. Flat warts usually occur on the face and they may readily spread through shaving or frequent skin to skin contact.
I suggest that you try to minimize shaving. However, doing so may not readily stop them from spreading. Treatment with the therapies mentioned above may be the best way to prevent their spread.

I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
I started minocycline feb 10 and conceived my baby feb 21 but i didnt stop the medicine until march 9 ( only because i didnt know i was preg) im 7 weeks now and i just wanna know has anybody else expericed this with a positive outcome ?
All, I recently had a standard STD screen and my RDR test showed positive and came back at 1:8 for the quant. test. I have a scalp condition I've had for years that my dermatologist treats with 200mg daily of minocycline. I'm wondering 2 things:
1) Could the same scalp condition cause the RDR test to show a false-positive? Especially a 1:8 reading?
2) If it IS truly positive, is Minocycline 200mg daily (which I've taken for 2+ yrs) sufficient to treat for syphillis?

I could not find a testing location in our rural location, read about Gonorrhea and knew that was my issue, I had discharge, pain while urinating. I took some of her Minocycline 200 MG for two days and three days of 100MG ALL SYMTOMS disappeared.
