Avatar m tn I took Minocycline for 6 days and had a bad reaction towards ,,,,, numbness(pins and needles) in feet and both joint and muscle pain in hands and feet. I also had some nerve issue in my feet and itching. I stopped taking it and it's been 5 weeks and I still have these aggravated symptoms. Have you heard from these side effects lasting so long after stopping the medication?
Avatar n tn Is there any new information on Crest Pro Health and teeth staining? After using this product, especially the night rinse, my white teeth began to develop brown stains. I have never in my lifetime ever had stained teeth until now. At first, I though that the browning was a coincidence. After reading the postings on this site, I now believe that a cause-and-effect relationship between my using the Pro Health rinse and the staining exists.
Avatar f tn I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
Avatar f tn All the time I smoked, my teeth did not have any problem. But nowadays I can see a brown staining on my teeth. Did it happen because of my smoking habit? I tried changing toothpaste, but there was no use. It’s my cousin’s marriage next week. It will be so embarrassing for me if I go with this stained teeth. Can I whiten my teeth at a clinic? . Will the stain get removed after teeth whitening as I believe I got this from my smoking? Will my teeth get sensitive after whitening?
Avatar n tn We in my office have not experienced this problem so it would be difficult to respond to your concerns.
7988747 tn?1396207441 I was taking minocycline for about a month. I went to my Obgyn and found out I was 7 weeks pregnant. Could being on minocycline for a month when I was 7 weeks pregnant affected my baby?
Avatar n tn Later that week I was brushing my teeth and happened to venture up a little further and noticed my upper gum line looked funny. I rinsed my mouth out and pulled up my upper lip to expose my gum line. And there it was...blue gums!!! I called my derm dr. again a little upset and she said yes that's probably from the mino treatment too. I just don't know what to do from here. Is there some organization I should make aware of the adverse effects this has had on my body?
Avatar f tn For instance, I drink smoothies for breakfast which have bluberries in them. My teeth really started staining as a result, so I have to stay on top of it now. You most likely can call your dentist office and discuss this with your dentist/hygienist and see what their chart notes are. They may recommend a specific toothpaste or mouthwash. Too, they may bump up your recall and see you sooner if it is an issue.
Avatar f tn What could be the reason for half yellow and half white teeth??
Avatar f tn ve never had a cavity but my gums seem to be receding in some areas and my teeth have become more sensitive to touch, heat and cold. Does brown teeth near the gum line usually signify calculus, or problems with the roots? Not sure if a periodontist is best if teeth are also involved.
Avatar n tn t sure if I can just have veneers but admits its not her area (crowding of the top front and bottom 4 teeth, couple overlapping teeth). I'm afraid if I go to a dentist who specializes in veneers, I'll be told that I should go that route, and if I go to an orthodontist, I'll be urged to get orthodontia first. Who should I go to to get an unbiased opinion? No dental school or college nearby. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I realize this is an old post but since I've been taking iron my tongue is black and it's staining some of my teeth as well. I've read that baking soda may remove the stains from my teeth and I plan to try that.
Avatar f tn I have this black recurring staining on my teeth (photo attached). It only appears to happen on the teeth that are directly exposed when I smile or talk. It happens on both the outer and inner surface of the teeth. It comes off when I aggressively use baking soda and scrub it off but that causes my gums to bleed. I do not use any medications that would interfere with it nor do I take iron supplements or drink any coffee or tea. The dentist can't figure out what it could be.
Avatar f tn Hello, I just noticed your post while looking for some dental info. I did the same thing as you (4-5 years) and so have many others so don't feel too bad. The important thing is to take care of it now. I'm not a dentist, but my guess is the lines are stains from food, drink or smoking. I don't smoke but I do drink a fair amount of coffee and tea. I have my teeth cleaned three times per year now and floss and use "go between" brushes faithfully.
Avatar m tn So I had a zirconia bridge put in a month or so ago. It was just a bit lighter in color than my natural teeth. I thought, it was fine, because I was planning to whiten my teeth anyway. I didn't whiten my teeth and the other day I noticed that the bridge is now slightly darker then my natural teeth. Is that normal? The bridge was made here in the US.
Avatar f tn The other day when i was brushing my teeth, i looked at the underside of my bottom front teeth and noticed that i have these black lines outlining my teeth. What is this and is it harmful??? My teeth dont hurt and my gums dont bleed when i brush, so i dont know what it is. Its only on like the 4 front bottom teeth. Any ideas???
Avatar n tn Hi everyone. Looks like I've joined the paresthesia club. I had my lower wisdom teeth extracted about 1.5 weeks ago and I'm still suffering with the numbness and burning sensation in my lower lip, chin and lower teeth. Every day I pray this will be over but I wake up to the continuous pain. I have taken some advice on taking vitamin B12. I would like to know what the suggested dosage would be. Also, I was wondering if anyone ever tried acupuncture with any success.
Avatar m tn I am now 8 weeks pregnant and in the first month I was taking Minocycline and antibiotic which is a class D drug. They say it causes fetal damage. Just wondering if anyone has taken this medicine during early pregnancy and what was the results??? As Dr have mentioned there are minor chances that this medicine will effect baby's teeth and bones... Looking forward to positive response...
Avatar f tn I floss daily, brush 2 -3x daily, change my toothbrush often, avoid dark colas and coffee and staining foods like blueberries, and I use Biotene mouthwash (the label says it "brings out the natural whiteness of teeth.") but still my teeth looking super dull lately and not nearly as white as they used to be. I am 35 now, but is there anything other than age that could be contributing to the "aging" look to my teeth?
Avatar f tn m 23 years old, I had braces when I was younger which I had popped off the brackets*(I know i was very stupid and a lot younger and not as wise) and the wires came out so I have stains from the braces because I smoke, I have rotting teeth both of my back too teeth are very bad, it's almost like the right side of my back top right tooth is gone and the left side of my left top back tooth is going...
Avatar f tn Hi. Can anyone please answer this? I'm 15 turning 16 this year, and my family never takes me to a dentist. When I was younger, no one ever told me to brush my teeth. And right now, they're yellow and my two front teeth have stains on them and I hate it.. And now my family say " Oh they're yellow! Why??? This is what they expect for never telling me anything.. I want to be able to talk to people or my friends without having to worry about what they will think of my teeth.
Avatar m tn Hello! I need help about my situation. I have sensitive teeth and was suggested to have fluoride therapy in order to get rid of sensitivity. Before the procedure doctor polished my teeth with abrasive 'detartrine Z' paste that contains zirconium and has RDA 150(!) even though my teeth were absolutely clean without any staining. He told me it would help fluoride to penetrate into enamel better. He even didnt tell me about how abrasive the paste was!
Avatar f tn t really understand what the connection was, but I wanted to know if I could trust my HIV test results even though I am on Minocycline, and was for months before, during, and after my HIV test. Also, just to ease my mind, is there ANYTHING else that could effect the validity of an HIV test (aspirin, menstrual cycle, diet, anything)? Thank you so much in advance, I really appreciate your help.
Avatar n tn My sister has implants she uses a whitener all the time. It is kind of hard to whiten your teeth and not have one touched. For example there are tooth paste with whiteners you brush your teeth with it and that tooth is being whitened with the paste. The only thing that you can't do to that tooth is get it bleached only the dentist can do bleaching and he knows what to do with the tooth.
Avatar m tn I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/8/1132.full This is where all of my anxiety has came from.
Avatar m tn The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again? I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus. Here's the link. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/8/1132.full Please advise. Any replies are helpful. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I've noticed some deep brown stains in the back of my two front teeth. During my last cleaning, which was extremely sub-par, the dentist stated that removal of those brown stains was not included in a "standard cleaning". I was under the impression that these were just stains that these were simply stains that could be scraped off. He stated that I would need an expensive procedure, I believe deep cleaning (rooting and scaling) to get those stains off.
Avatar n tn In the early stages, the teeth are flecked with black spots of decay and this soon progresses to where the teeth turn totally black and rot all the way down to the gum line, which is very similar to what you described. Again, I'm not suggesting at all that this is the case with him, I'm just saying this has now become a common cause of teeth turning black in a young adult. Whatever the cause in your brother's case, he needs to get it sorted by a dentist.
