Avatar f tn I am currently using clindamycin 1% twice a day as well as benzoyl peroxide 10% in the morning and retin-a .025% before bed. I wash my face twice a day and after I sweat with a salicylic acid wash. I use a clean facial scrub brush to wash my face and help with exfoliation. I change my pillow case every night and never touch my face. I have listed the different medications I have tried in the past at the bottom of this post.
948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, My dermo gave me Retin A cream to go along with my accutane. She said it would help clear up some of the dark spots I had on my skin from the acne. Will this help? What is this stuff usually used for ?
Avatar m tn I have been using Retin A until I found that I'm pregnant. I didn't know that a pregnant lady shouldn't use Retin A. Now, I'm 10weeks already and I stop using it when I was 5 weeks. What should I do? would it harm my baby? What are the birth defect that would cause to my baby? Please reply asap as this is very urgent to me. Thanks a million.
Avatar m tn I am confused, as retin A cream is said to cause the skin to thin, and applying the cream is supposed to generate collegen which I though thickened the skin. Could you pleas explain? thank you.
Avatar f tn Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength.. Thanks, so glad I am not smoking. If anyone has any comments on smoking damage and retinol, I'd appreciate it!!
Avatar f tn I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
Avatar f tn I have been on Minocycline for acne for well over a year. Usually I take 50mg twice a day, although for the last month have been on 75mg twice a day. If by some freak chance I had rectally contracted Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, would this antibiotic take care of it?
Avatar m tn I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/8/1132.full This is where all of my anxiety has came from.
Avatar m tn The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again? I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus. Here's the link. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/8/1132.full Please advise. Any replies are helpful. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Retin A about an year now, and my skin has improved a lot. So, when I started I had this ugly period as expected. But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
Avatar f tn I heard that broken capillaries caused by retin a doesnt go away fully. Retin a causes vascularization which is dark circles under the eyes. Retin a thins the skin and exposes veins under the eye. This has to be treated with laser treatments because apparently it doesnt go away. I dont understand the use of Retin A. It worsens the skin wrinkles, acne, thin skin, dark circles....and then after 6 months or years of use..."you hope" that itll get better...
Avatar f tn Hello there, I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation. Thanks!
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me minocycline and I started taking it for about four days and then found out I was pregnant. I have stopped taking it since, but now I've read some of the birth defects that it causes and I'm really scared. I'm only about 5 weeks and was just wondering if someone could give some more in depth info on the possibilities of something happening to my baby. I was taking 100mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn A few years passed and the GP finally reffered me to a dermatologist who did a biopsy and confirmed CRP. I was prescribed minocycline, but after less than a week of taking it I developed welts on my arms and my hands swelled up. A blood test also reveled elevated liver enzymes. Clearly I was allergic to it and stopped taking it. The CRP would go away occasionally when I was on other antibiotics, but it always came back. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease.
Avatar f tn I was taking 1800 mgs a day of Trileptal in my first 5 weeks of pregnancy. Minocycline 100 mgs . Should I be concerned that there are abnormalities or did I possibly quick the medication in time?
Avatar n tn I get normal pimples tho but these come once in a while and theyre different and they start out as a small bruise and i can kind of feel a lump underneath but they stay there and manifest for longer and when they finally do pop theres alot of dark blood and pus and it always leaves a worse scar than my normal pimples. Shot in the dark if you reply but did you ever find out what it was or a solution for you?
Avatar n tn Oh, I'm sorry to hear about this. Skin problems are so emotional in nature too because of how we all are about our appearance. But you are not alone. When the health crisis blows over, seeing a dermatologist may be of benefit to you. They do have things they can prescribe. Retin-A is one of them. Some women also have success going on birth control pills when they have adult acne. Make sure your make up isn't contributing to the issue as well.
Avatar n tn For the past 4 summers since, I still get the white spots after being in the sun. I was wondering if using Retin-A for skincare/wrinkle control is okay in patients with pityriasis alba? Would it cause further depigmentation or actually reverse the effects? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Hello Peter, It usually helps us if you have a question or want to share a potential risk. Please see a physician for the correct dosage and correct diagnosis.
Avatar f tn It's great news that you are doing well on your treatment! I don't recall anyone posting here about minocycline, but then my memory's not what it used to be, ha. Also not familiar with the Sunnybrook test -- Sorry not to be more useful! Hope you continue to improve. PS If you're up for some heavy reading, you might try the ilads [dot] org website, the 'about lyme' tab, and read Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines.
Avatar f tn I started minocycline feb 10 and conceived my baby feb 21 but i didnt stop the medicine until march 9 ( only because i didnt know i was preg) im 7 weeks now and i just wanna know has anybody else expericed this with a positive outcome ?
Avatar m tn All, I recently had a standard STD screen and my RDR test showed positive and came back at 1:8 for the quant. test. I have a scalp condition I've had for years that my dermatologist treats with 200mg daily of minocycline. I'm wondering 2 things: 1) Could the same scalp condition cause the RDR test to show a false-positive? Especially a 1:8 reading? 2) If it IS truly positive, is Minocycline 200mg daily (which I've taken for 2+ yrs) sufficient to treat for syphillis?
