After one week of 200mg I started experiencing severe dizziness and nausea. I immediately stopped treatment and the dizziness subsided within 24 hours. However I have now begun to develop a very itchy rash in between my ring finger and middle finger and on my eye-lid. The rash looks like poison ivy which I used to get very frequently as a child. I noticed the rash two days after ending treatment. Does anyone know if minocycline is the cause of this rash and what does it mean in general terms?
The dosage is within the prescribed limits and I do not believe the side effects to be related to the medication. Bactrim may be similar to minocycline and may be used is suggested by your treating doctor. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!

Recently I had a migraine that lasted 2 days. I had visual distortions, head pain, and slight nausea the first day and only a headache on the second day. This migraine occured last Saturday and Sunday. I stopped taking the minocycline on the day of the migraine's start (last Saturday) and have not taken it since then (today is Monday), which is a week and two days. Over the past few days I have had a slight headache, some sensitivity to lights, slight nausea, and some dizziness.
(Years ago I was put on tetracycline for something completely unrelated and after about a week on that, I was puking and I stopped.) Then I read that there are some things you can try to do with doxy to keep your stomach settled, so I'm considering going back on the stuff IF it is the most likely to actually cure this incredibly frustrating and uncomfortable condition.
Now some right kidney pain had returned. We tried to go off the Minocycline and crashed with unbearable pain, nausea and weakness. Starting Doxycylcine with the Septra, 2 mos ago. I'm duplicating the regimen described in the studies (Two 300mg doses daily for a total of 600mg) and as of today in week four I can say I am wart free. After one week of zinc I got periodic waves of nausea for 2 or 3 days but I stuck with it and they went away. I'm going to keep up this high does for the full 5 week regimen they taper down to a lower dose, maybe 100mg. For those who think 600mg is poisonous or risking toxicity I refer you to two scientific studies (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.

For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.

I have taken Sulfasalazine which did not work and have taken Minocycline for 4 years. The Minocycline has eradicated many of the symptoms but not the most severe. I am convinced the disease is bacterial and have tried a number of antibiotic combinations to no avail. After reading up on it alot it seems that many arthritis conditions are caused by bacteria that, once in the joint create bio films that can not be broken down by Antibiotics.
