Avatar m tn TXLDA is the short name for Texas Lyme Disease Association, and they can likely give you names of Lyme specialists near you. ---------------------------------------------------------------- As to cost of the tests and doctor visits, your insurance may cover much of it, or if you don't have insurance, then ask TXLDA (see above) and also go online at ILADS [dot] org for MDs or organizations who may be able to assist you financially. Best wishes to you!
Avatar m tn Oh,, and treating Lyme and MS doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn It's great news that you are doing well on your treatment! I don't recall anyone posting here about minocycline, but then my memory's not what it used to be, ha. Also not familiar with the Sunnybrook test -- Sorry not to be more useful! Hope you continue to improve. PS If you're up for some heavy reading, you might try the ilads [dot] org website, the 'about lyme' tab, and read Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines.
Avatar m tn Welcome, but sorry you're having problems enough that you consider Lyme disease. You obviously tested positive for Lyme disease, even if your blood work was sent to a lab that is inferior to Igenex which is a specialty lab for tick diseases. Yes we're biased but for good reasons! Taking from Dr.
280418 tn?1306325910 I disagreed, but, he still wrote me a script for minocycline (sp?) and said he would treat for six weeks, then reasses, treat for six more, then reasses. He said this would keep him out of hot water. Since I disagreed with the "not neuro" dx - he is sending me for an EEG. A friend of mine with Lyme had this EEG and it was wildly abnormal. He then dx her with neuro Lyme and I assume he will do the same with me depending on the outcome of my EEG.
Avatar m tn t know it this helps you at all but in my lyme brain opinion, my foot problems are due to lyme, and minocycline make me somewhat dizzy, anxious and depressed. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn I have acne all over the back of my head and on my back it hurts to touch in some spots and to dry my hair.
Avatar m tn Very few doctors understand the real problem and how to diagnosis and treat Lyme Disease. Again, not saying you seem to have it, but it couldn't hurt to find out for yourself.
Avatar n tn I do not get classic migraine, but do get migraine auras and other pressure headaches from my Lyme disease. 4. There are alternative treatments, again, an LLMD could advise you. However, what comes to mind is that your antibiotic treatment could have been incomplete and/or too short. A hypothesis is that chronic Lyme patients are co-infected with other illnesses carried by ticks. These other infections may not respond to the same antibiotics that kill the Lyme bacteria.
Avatar f tn the books Cure Unknown by Pam Weintraub and Everything You Need to Know About Lyme Disease and Other Tick-Borne Disorders by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner. Your library will probably have both. I'd stay away from most YouTube videos. LOL There ARE a few good ones----- but there are even more that present completely false information. I live by the credo that the more information I have the better off I'll be.
Avatar f tn However, I had been on schedule to start Lyme disease treatment (Benemicin/rifampicine150mg and Minocycline 50mg - twice daily for both), and as I did not put any thought to an STD, I started the treatment. Some kind of yeast infection/thrush appeared on head of penis and foreskin few days later and went away only after I started applying canesten on the area. A week later my testicles started to hurt a bit.
Avatar f tn Additional reports have confirmed this association in 6% of children with neurologic syndromes after treatment for Lyme disease and have noted the presence of pleocytosis and increased CSF protein levels in <50% of the patients [7]. Although pseudotumor cerebri can be caused by tetracycline [11] or minocycline therapy [12], especially in obese females, no cases of doxycycline-induced pseudotumor cerebri have been reported, although this complication may be a class effect.
280418 tn?1306325910 All my friends with Lyme are going to him and he treats them. I had either a herx or an allergic reaction to minocycline, so he stopped treating me since then. He won't even throw me a bone and give me some doxy. Tomorrow is D-Day for me, I am going to tell him that I want to be treated, or I'm not coming back until he decides to. There is nowhere else to go from here - the only abnormal tests I have are Lyme tests, so duh.
948349 tn?1294380237 Hi all. So the lyme docs have diagnosed Lyme, Bartonella, and Mycoplasma. It has just been over 3 months now since I have been infected. Does anyone have any ideas on what the best possible early treatment should be? I was literally taking minocycline 3 days after being infected 200 mg a day. I am still taking 100 mg twice a day to this point. One month in I started banderol/samento which helped. I cranked up to 30 drops of each twice per day.
Avatar m tn Double vision (treated by a Fresnel lens on the left lens of glasses), blurred, sensitive to sunlight. But I live in a state that will not recognize Lyme disease and doctors are 'prohibited' to treat for Lyme unless there's a bulls-eye rash. My ophthalmologist states he sees no evidence of optic neuritis. But........ I think you're making a fairly informed decision to treat for Lyme.
4939681 tn?1361299299 t have time to see what abx that includes, but interestingly the message board I was looking had some people saying they had scleroderma AND Lyme. Makes me wonder if there is a connection (as in, can a Lyme infection show itself as skin problems such as scleroderma), but that was all I got in 5 minutes!
Avatar m tn There is a lot of overlap between MS and Lyme symptoms, and some theorize that Lyme may even trigger MS (since the cause of MS is still not well understood). While MS has a very different prognosis, Lyme can actually cause *more* symptoms than MS, because MS attacks the central nervous system while Lyme is systemic and can affect the nerves, skin, heart, joints, ...
Avatar f tn www --- gofundme --- com/Alabama-Lyme-Disease Jul 26, 2012 - The mission of Alabama Lyme Disease Association is to be the central voice in Alabama in helping to prevent Lyme disease and other ... ==================================== Good luck!
Avatar m tn The International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) is a voluntary organization whose members are MDs that take a broad and more progressive view of how to diagnose and treat Lyme disease. My own doc was an ILADS member (he still is, it's just that I'm well now and not his patient anymore), and ILADS is the main group focusing on the mess the medical community has made of Lyme diagnosis and treatment.
Avatar m tn Started Minocycline 100mg 2x per day for suspected neuro Lyme and feel horrible. I know herx is possible, but feel more like I'm experiencing side effects, and wondering if I should switch abx. How long should I stick with this? Anyone have success with Minocycline? Do the side effects lessen with time?
737143 tn?1232824698 On wednesday morning I did take minocycline. The same day I reported to dr that I ma getting the itching and when I scratch it is turning into rash. But on wednesday night I did not get any itching or rash. Since wednesday night to until now I did not get any rash. I am wondering if the itch is because of the antibiotics.
